- A fifteen minute basic run-through explaining how to use the FTP feature built into the Canon EOS R5 camera. This is a follow-up to the similar video that I made about the Canon EOS5D MkIV in 2017
Excellent... Really useful to see/ know this. Thanks
Excellent Neil! Great walkthrough. Thanks
brilliant saved me so much time !
Very Helpful Neil
Great work on the FTP setup for EOS R5 Neil, I can also add that it's exactly the same on the EOS R6 too, wifi menus are exactly the same. I could follow your steps on my EOS R6 perfectly.
Can I use ftp this feature if have the computer with me but no internet access?
The best bet there would be to use the Canon EOS Utility application that comes with the camera rather than try to use FTP.
Neil, great video. Thankyou. Any chance you might be able to do the same for R3 and 1DXIII ? Having trouble with a setting up multiple ftp addresses, but also methods using a Netgear 4g modem that can utilise both wifi and Ethernet connection and also iPhone …. Can’t seem to get it to work . There is simply no tutorial video anywhere and I sure many people would be fit from your straight forward explanation. thanks in advance. Patrick H
If I can get a loan of an R3 and the right Mifi I would have a go.
@@neilturner8409 All good …. Canon certainly make it a difficult process. I’ve been able to marry the function setting + communication settings together , for a wifi + wired result for two AFP channels but it took many hours of trial and error. Trying to follow the instructions certainly doesn’t help …… thanks anyway . P
How do you add captions before sending?
I have handed the camera back to Canon UK (reluctantly) but with other Canons it’s a bit tricky. You have to preload captions using EOS Utility and then select “send with caption” selecting the one you want. It’s not a good system and if you need to caption you are better off transferring the images to another device (phone or tablet) and caption there before uploading. I have blogged about using an iPad to do this on neilturnerphotographer.co.uk . Most of the direct from camera FTP we do is to a live editor who adds caption and tones the images before delivering them.
Great video! Can I presume that one can use a smartphone 4G to connect the R6 to the FTP?
