I'm currently using the r6 with an Ninja v, and my advice for cages is to opt for the smallrig cage. The single biggest reason is for cable support. The r6 doesn't have a cable protector like the r5 does (a plastic cable clip that screws into the side of the camera body), and with the unreliability of the micro HDMI, having any kind of extra security to that port is important, especially if your recording externally. Smallrig has a cable mount specifically for the r5/r6 cage (SmallRig HDMI and USB-C Cable Clamp for EOS R5 and R6 Cage 2981). As far as I am aware 8sinn doesn't make anything like this so I highly recommended the smallrig over it.
Hey Scottie, Im using the R6 with the ninja V as well and no matter what i do (when recording indoors 22c, both internal and external recording) the camera overheats in 4K 60 after 22min consistently. Do you have the same issue?
I've watched several videos now on making a cage setup, and yours is by far the best explained, thorough and I also appreciated the overview at the begining! Thanks!
With R5 I agree with you not using an external recorder- but the big difference with the R6 is that if you have a monitor plugged in, you cannot record internally anymore . Meaning when using an R6, if you want to use a monitor it needs to be able to record externally (ninja)
@@Mufasa_Shabazz you will be able to use the setting where it mirrors your camera’s screen to the shinobi, and your camera screen will go black. One thing we're looking into is the external recorder or external monitor. We have a rigged EOS R too with an external monitor. Do you use the Freeworld LUT6 with the R6? The reason I ask is when we plug in the external monitor that we use on the EOS R to our R6, the R6 turns off the screen on the back of the camera and the camera says it can only record externally with an external monitor attached....which isn't helpful. Seems the Canon cripple hammer hit the R6. I like Your videos, full of information.
Thanks for this video - very informative! Do you think having an external monitor helps to prevent overheating? I read somewhere that disabling the internal monitor might help with preventing overheating on the R6. Also, does connecting an external monitor disable to 30 minute record limit?
External monitor: no. External recorder yes to both ;)
@@damiencooper Im using the R6 with the ninja V as well and no matter what i do (when recording indoors 22c, both internal and external recording) the camera overheats in 4K 60 after 22min consistently. is there something im missing? i hear that the R5 doesnt have this issue because of its metal body but noone seems to talk about the R6
@@bryanwanphotography oh really? Even with the Ninja? Haven't used the Ninja before but as I stated in the Video.. The R6 always overheated with continuous shooting for me as well
@@damiencooperThe R5 was known to over heat because of the fast write speeds and once you removed them it wouldn't overheat as fast. but for some reason the R6 overheats regardless which is sad
Great video! Thank you 💪😍🎉
What lenses do you have on you setup
That’s a nice video .. very very interesting one .
What gimble you find most effective with R5 and 28-70 f2 lens.
I can’t imagine a gimbal that would hold that. I have that same setup and if there is I’d love to see it.
Thanks for the shopping list :-)
Maybe a silly question but do they also fit the EOS R by chance?
no, I don't think so as the R doesn't have the location pins underneath I think. But there's a dedicated cage for the R. Everything else fits
Can you still use the camera EVF if you hook up a monitor?
yes
Very informative, thanks!
thanks
thanks for this video!!
Interesting cause I would have never thought to use the r6 with the poor codec
You can make due with everything 😉
So BMPCC 6K or the R5 for video?
Depends 😉
Would you recommend the ND RF mount for video?
Absolutely. Unless you want to use RF lenses
@@damiencooper i meant CANON MOUNT ADAPTER WITH ND FILTER
@@shamhussain me too 😉
@@damiencooper of course, makes sense. All my glass is EF anyway so could be an option.
@@shamhussain if you’re not switching between photo and video and you don’t use RF lenses. It’s great
Can this rig sit on the RS2?
I detach the handle with one clip and then use it with the gimbal.
I think you'll get way better results that way.
I just need the rig I have everything else
