Two driving skills will make you a safer, smarter driver and significantly reduce your chances of being involved in a crash. Control space in front of your vehicle. If you're using the brake to control space in front you're too close. Maintain a 3 - 4 second following distance behind other traffic. And the reason for that is owing to the fact that rear-end crashes are the number one crash in North America. Also, when stopped in a queue of traffic, stop one vehicle back from the vehicle in front. NO, other drivers are not going to cut in front, despite what social driving tells you. Finally, always have a back up. Observe well, and communicate effectively. Driving is a social event, and we all need to go along to get along.
Good luck on your road test.

I'm a new driver and have noticed some people behind me pass me to get in front of me when I drive the speed limit. This video made me feel less alone, it was validating to hear this is something that all drivers experience. Thank you so much for this channel! I didn't get my license until 29 because of my crippling fear of driving and these videos are helping me feel more prepared and less anxious
Hello Rick, thank you for teaching us on space, space, space. It’s save me and my son today from accident. I was driving on the left lane when suddenly, I just saw a car from the middle lane swaying from side to side and roaming around, almost hitting the car in front of us (the road was very slippery from the snow for the past few days). And due to the space, I was able to stop on time while that car from the middle lane continuously swaying and roaming around in front of me. Luckily, the driver was able to stop it without hitting other cars. I’m a new driver, I just got my license 6 months ago, continuously watching your videos. It was a scary experience but thank you!!! (Calgary, AB).
Hey Rick, passed my drivers test this morning and cannot thank you enough. I’ve watched your videos over the past months leading to my test and you gave me the confidence that I needed with your knowledge. I live in the Vernon area as well, so it is nice seeing the familiar roads! 😊
Congratulations
