    Thats a great tip, slapping dropping to the hand, might try that myself - but my school, Muso Shinden's noto with the blade horizontally. 🤔 haha we shall see how it goes 😀

      Very bad example. Very noisy.

      @TheBudoAcademy  3 года назад

      @@ceesvanderzee5187 please keep in mind the highly sensitive microphone is inches away from the sword right on my chest. You can see the little blue light. So it picks up every little sound and magnifies it
      Years ago I got complaints that I couldn't be heard well with the regular on-camera microphone because in sword videos you need to stand far from the camera. So in reality it's not that loud. Thanks for the feedback.

    Funny thing, ive recently got my first sword, ive learned this in 10 minutes, the basics, did not even needed to look at it, i was able to return it with my eyes closed from the start, trained for 2 more days, its gets easier every time. I understand thats its different for everyone, for me its very easy to do, of course i cant do it as fast as this yet, but ill get there soon,, a week i would say. Its recommended to start with wooden sword or just not sharp sword, but im prepared to cut myself, not scared, cant learn without spilling a little blood :). Ill just need more time to get used to the weight, its just 1kg, but for a sword i think its heavy.
    Ive tried to dig into my family tree as far back as possible, i thought there maybe was a master swordsman in the past in my eastern european family, nope :D
    I guess its just in my blood, i can learn weapons and martial arts fast and easy. Great video ^^

    Great content and great teaching style! I've watched a number of your videos so far. I don't remember seeing if these are fully sharpened Katana or if they've been left unsharpened along the cutting edge. Just curious since the only Katana I have is a fully sharpened 1095 steel.

    • @TheBudoAcademy
      @TheBudoAcademy  3 года назад +2

      Due to insurance regulations, we only allow use of unsharpend iaito during normal classes. We also recommend this to beginners as a live blade can certainly be quite dangerous. So we don't recommend them unless approved by an instructor.
      Also as practitioners get older (like myself) the lighter blades are easier on the body. As far as quality of a steel blade, this would be more applicable for actual cutting and the thickness of the target.
      Thanks for the great question!

    Hi, does this work with straight blades?

    • @TheBudoAcademy
      @TheBudoAcademy  2 года назад

      No idea , however if it's a two sided blade , you would definitely cut yourself

    • @thac0twenty377
      @thac0twenty377 2 года назад

      The concept yes. As the sensei Said, returning to the sheath has to be adapted. you need to pull sideways over the hand on the sheath and tip the point in.
