thanks for sharing that insight! I was never trained with a wakizashi, so it never crossed my mind. if i was to encounter this lesson, my mind would gravitate towards "developing a sayabiki habit" or the habit of "always control our saya for any techniques before the draw"
That’s a good lesson to remember, especially the “when I was young part” 56 and I don’t feel old yet in thanks to the martial arts; another good video from you. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family
Great Insight!! When I first started w a bokken wo saya and then w saya it was a totally different dynamic. I had to adjust everything I did!! Thank You again!!
I like the details, it is a challenge in all budo, it seems you could do kihon for 10 years in any art and still uncover things that you had t noticed before. In the ninjutsu version of kenjutsu, I didn't know why their stance was the way it was and it was a few reasons, but when trying one of them in tamashigiri I got it ! Just a matter of "cutting with the back foot " . Anyway, glad I found your channel ! Having fun learning a little extra between classes
@@TheBudoAcademy Haha, right ? No problem, my friend Namazu Ryu is to be thanked for pointing me in the right direction, he likes your channel, amd now so do I 😎👍
I love lessons like this haha. Makes learning way more interesting when you're stuck with a question.

OK! But what if I’m not wearing a wakizashi? Sorry but this actually bothers me with most of the drawings?
Then the draw is different. Some schools assume no wakizashi and draw differently as a result.
