  • Classic video with Bill Spicer who discusses how to correctly swing streamers to catch trout, salmon and other species. Using streamers is deadly for catching trophy-sized trout. Full-length video with lots of great information and details for all anglers. This show was produced before 2010 when the use of landing gloves was encouraged for safe catch & release. Today this is not recommended for handling of species like trout or salmon.

Wow! Fantastic fishing and tips. Just what i'll be doing this season but with a 10 ft. switch rod. I have a mouse from your neck of the woods and am anxious to try. Nice music, great presentation, thanx.

What is the thing about The New Fly Fisher and gloves. Even dry gloves.

Hans, thanks for your feedback. Any video you see where our hosts use gloves is usually old (10+ years). Today we don't use gloves in current videos. Cheers

I think the gloves and fabric netting are frowned upon these days for damaging slime coats?

Esasy when you fish in a aquarium...

Getting the right speed is critical. Also, remove half of the hackle that you get with your commercial fly. Less hackle on your fly is more effective than too much. The commercial flies are tied to look good and sell. You want a fly that take fish.

Great advice and totally agree. Been with guide who strip away hackle for the same reasons. Thanks so much!

Lose the tailing gloves if you want the fish to live

Some people love the sound of a "click pawl" reel and others hate it. All about preferences!
