    In the first game, you actually have to invest points in Charm or Intimidate to get the special blue and red options in dialogue. Just filling up your Paragon or Renegade meters is not enough. In the second game, the special options become available as you fill up your Paragon or Renegade meters, so it's best to pick one and use it almost exclusively. In the last game, your persuasion options are unlocked by the new Reputation meter, which gets filled up as you complete missions regardless of whether you choose Paragon or Renegade options.

    • @prich0382
      @prich0382 3 года назад +3

      It takes 3 playthroughs to get Charm or Intimidate for free as you get 4 points for filling up paragon/renegade per run, thus you can spend 12 extra points in other things

      Nah, I chose freely and did it how I wanted. If I felt nice I did paragon and if I felt like being a bad ass didn’t do paragon. I have both half’s of the meter thing in the menu in mass effect 3 of Both sides. So I can choose which ever I want in mass effect 3. So I disagree on just sticking to one. Ruins the game play.

    My best tips: Consider squad powers/abilities to be your abilities. Always use them just as if they were on your character. Get to know what they are and how to use them best. And level them up.
    And unless it's for story reasons, don't use strictly combat characters in ME 1, like Ashley, who is just a soldier. You want a squad with powers. Guns are just a bonus, as your Shep is gonna be doing most of the gun kills (unless they've made the squadmates better at that in LE). Always have at least one techie and one biotic. If you want a soldier, let Shep be the soldier class.
    In ME 1, if you don't have a techie in your squad with decryption, you're gonna miss out on tons of loot. If Shep can't do it, always bring someone who can.

  • @Jsobone

      Ye. If I'm running Infiltrator I got the flexibility of having all my favs, Wrex / Garrus - A healthy mix of damage, biotics and electronics/decryption. But you can swap any of those out, so long as a party member has Decryption etc or brings the damages, like Ash or biotics like liara (but liara has electronics and no decrption)

  • @malcolmthorne9779
    @malcolmthorne9779 3 года назад +7

    One thing that new players really need to know is to always, ALWAYS, focus on leveling up the Decryption/Electronics skill lines either on Shepard or the squad.
    And to choose one of the Charm or Intimidate lines and level that one up at every opportunity.
    Decryption/Electronics work as a lockpicking system and will let you access containers and doors that would be locked otherwise.
    Unlocking such places also gives you xp (and quite a lot of it over time) so that's an even greater reason to invest in it.
    The Charm/Intimidate lines is basically the persuasion skill line and will let you get more favorable outcomes in interacting with NPCs'.
    It will also give you a passive bonus when buying or selling goods wich is always useful.
    ME1 plays a lot more like an RPG than 2 and 3 does so a lot of the classical RPG tropes apply.
    Meaning that persuasion and lockpicking are essential if you want to access as many places and as much loot as possible.

    Love slight council dialog when Saren removed from Spectors. The Adrian member no longer says he is "disbarred", which actually means he can no longer function as a barrister, lawyer, attorney. Turian now says he's "removed" from the Spectors. Though the term "barrister" is still valid, British Commonwealth nations like Canada or the US use solicitor (except US) or attorney or lawyer. All practicing attorneys in the US have to pass the State Bar Exam. Most not in the legal profession never commonly use the older term Barrister. I think in the UK "bailey" is used, like on the show "Rumpole, The Bailer" for the 70's or early 80's.

    I agree all players should play the trilogy in order, search every planet, every place on the citadel and other planets there are many side-quests that will help in me 2 and 3 if you did not miss in me 1 for example, i finished over 10 times the trilogy and 3 times the legendary edition and it never gets old for me i could play it 100 times and still want to play more. If you don't want to miss any conversations you should go to talk to the crew members after every main mission and side-quests the most unique conversations you will find in me 3 and it will take a lot of time to finish the game this way by some things you can find out are great, as well after every main mission in ME 1 visit Anderson's office and you will get a small cut-seen every time where you will see anderson and udina talking about... do it to find out :).

    I think alot of vets are under the impression that on Legendary you need to still do new game plus and do multiple play throughs for the bonus dialogue options. As someone who beat at least ME1 and is now working on ME2 on Legendary edition I can confirm that isn't the case. I beat ME1 normal difficultly as a soldier class Lvl.57 had already maxed out paragon after only completing Therum and Feros before even unlocking Virmire and Illos. It's all in how you choose to use your skill points. I prioritized Charming, Armor, and Health. The reason I focused on charming was because in addition to having better dialogue options that felt more appropriate to my play style. Charming also gives discounts for buying items and adding Intimidation additonally allows you to sell items for better deals so even if you choose paragon you should still max out intimidation and likewise if your renegade you still want charming. I say this because I knew I could always buy better weapons with a higher damage output then weapons I scavenged. Old players don't have the same idea because they couldn't afford to purchase good weapons because they didn't have alot to sell because every loot cache was bugged so hacking/decrypting had massive input lag. You primarily opened item caches with Omni-gel. So you spent more time trying ration omnigel, like "am I gonna destroy a weapon to get more weapons or save that gel for mako repairs?" Where as in Legendary edition hacking/decryption is fixed and easy so you will more likely have a surplus of Omni gel. Having someone like Liara maxed out in tech means she can auto repair the Mako so you never have to use Omni-gel. So to put my playthrough in perspective I have never played a Mass Effect game up until this point. I got Legendary edition because my friends love Mass Effect. I finished the game at maxed item carrying capacity (you can only carry 300 items), maxed capped on credits, and with 1000 Omni gel. Now my soul tip is to "put away as many credits as you can" the reason I encourage you to put away credits is because the best weapons in the game are actually sold by C-Sec (armor is debatable) but if you wanna be a God you want the guns C-Sec is selling specifically the guns that are listed as limited/spectre weapons. I think they're labeled HWMR or something like that. The final variations will end with X and the regular rifle alone does 380 damage. As far as I could tell the only other weapon coming close in pure damage is the Geth plasma rifle but the condition of Geth rifles is you can't stack ANY weapon abilities on them and they have a weird rate of fire. My suggestion is give them to your friendly NPCs. Where as the C-Sec weapons can be stacked with abilities so I usually do recoil reduction and over heat mods for continous fire. Then interchange Shredder Rounds and Tungsten Rounds because that can tac on +40 damage to either organics or tech enemies which you can interchange at the start of every fight. You can now mark duplicate items in Legendary to making it easier when selling them and managing inventory. Aaaaand the final reason to focus on selling items and boosting money over Omni-gel is because of two over looked items the game doesn't tell you about. Both your medi-gel and Grenade carrying capacity can be increased!!!! So as far as I found you can carry up to 10 of each. They're hidden at shops so check every shop you come across and go all the way to the bottom of the list looking for Grenade and medi-gel upgrades. Then hit the medbay in Normandy before a mission to resupply medi-gel. So if your a soldier like me you can then stack abilities again like Unity to revive teammates and Adrenaline to refresh your ability to revive then pair that with monitoring your team's health and having access to 10 medi-gel and no one ever is really hurt/dead. Honestly you could in theory build your teammates up so that you never have to do any work but then you miss out of experience so 🙄 To put this in context of how OP my build was my friends rushed through ME1 because it was their least favorite of the titles and all them were telling me how challenging the game was but I was walking around having beat Mother B in 5 shots. My friends were adamant that I would struggle with Saren so I timed myself. Was able to use the paragon option avoiding the first clash and beat Saren in the final battle in exactly 5 mins (including the cutscene in the middle of the fight). So my advice is to take it slow and read everything because tiny hints and abilities make it really easy to wreck enemies at least in ME1.

      Played through the series years ago. The first game is definitely conversation heavy and it's obvious which responses are for paragon, renegade, and neutral. The voice acting is excellent even by today's standards. The second and third games have more emphasis on combat but most of your time will be exploring and talking. I found the combat satisfying as a kid. Will see how it is now as an adult though. I'd definitely recommend it though. The characters are some of my favorite in any game I've played

    Good video, although I do somewhat disagree with you about the paragon/renegade options, particularly for newcomers to the series.
    If you don't pick a side and stick to it (mostly, the odd deviation from light to dark or vice versa shouldn't matter too much) then you will almost inevitably miss out on the morality choices in later dialogues, especially towards the end of the first game. There is nothing game altering if you do miss out, but from the perspective of building your own lore and legacy for your shepherd, it does matter.

    If you care about the ending of the entire saga, don't play blind. Use a guide. Some decisions will seem irrelevant at the time, but will factor in at the end of the 3rd game...like having someone feed your fish in the second game. If you must play blind, Paragon choices regularly contribute more to the end...but not always. As an example for "not always," in the first game, purposefully letting 1 NPC die who is helping you and murdering one of your own squadmates contributes more to the end of the third game than saving the NPC and negotiating with the squadmate in question to keep them alive. Without a guide, you wouldn't even think to do these things even if you were playing as a dedicated Renegade. There's also a decision in the second game that doesn't directly affect the end of the third game, but makes inacting another decision in the third game decidedly easier which does affect the ending. But they give you a lot towards unlocking the only ending to the third game that fans actually found acceptable. If you want to know what I'm talking about, I'll put it in the reply section of this comment, that way if you want to avoid spoilers stay out of my reply section. :)

      -Yoeman Chambers in the 2nd game feeds your fish after you befriend or romance her and ask her to have dinner in your quarters (her romance doesn't unlock paramour achievements in ME2LE, but will in 3 only if you start in 2, keep her alive in 2, and rekindle in 3)...don't ask me how this affects the war assets, it's stupid, but it somehow increases them
      -Let Captain Kerahee die in ME1 (Salarian commander on Virmir...final small building you encounter in your assault that would help him if you disable the drones, don't disable, just go for the main building)
      -Kill Wrex in ME1 when he freaks out about the genophage cure on Virmir (or have Ashley kill him); his brother, Wreave in the 3rd game, can be fooled into sabotaging the genophage cure, Wrex can't
      -destroying the geth heretics in Legion's loyalty mission in me2 makes negotiating peace between the geth and the quarians easier in the 3rd game
      Many, many more decisions affect the war assets at the end of the game...even not punching the Fox News bitch in the face when she interviews you on the citidel in all three games. The games try very hard to bait you into punching her too, and she absolutely deserves it lol. If you Paragon her, you embarrass the shit out of her, so hold your ground. If you want to see her get knocked out, watch a Krogan do it on a security camera at the end of the Shadow Broker DLC. Ahh catharsis.

I’M LOVING THIS GAME!!!! Don’t get me wrong, I still love ME: Andromeda, in fact, I give credit to ME: Andromeda for making me curious enough to see what the whole Mass Effect story was all about which propelled me into playing ME:Legendary all the way through. As for Shepard- A Bad Ass Mo Fo!! I particularly love playing Femshep. I created one I love which is also another reason why I love playing this game now. Same as Andromeda, it took me creating a Female Ryder I love to love this game as well. I know everyone has a preference but I love the whole Mass Effect Universe! Which is why I don’t mind which one Shepard, or Ryder, they use for the next one, long as I can use the ones I created. In the meantime EA, hurry up and get us the next Mass Effect game please, I’m hungry for more Mass Effect!! With all this being said I APOLOGIZE!! P. S. I’m a male , but just love playing with the female Shepard, and Ryder. I’ve play with both male Shepard, and Ryder but have more fun playing with the female characters. I disagree with the point about renegades/paragons. On the first playhtrough you should NOT CARE about being renegade or paragon. Make the choice which feels the best for yourself. And bear the consequences. Believe me, this will lead you to the best game experience.
    This will not give you the best results in the end, and maybe you will regret some of the choices, but do it anyway. You will never get a second chance to play the game this way, believe me.
    You will play the game again anyway, and your second playthrough can be your perfect playthrough, where you fix the bad decisions. By that time, you will lose the element of surprise, though, and never get it back.
    For the very same reason, do not read about the mission and story ahead. Do not read about how to resolve the challenges, and what are the good decisions. Read it after you finished the game, and use that knowledge on the second playthrough, not at the first one.
    Remember, you can have as many “perfect” playthrough as you want. But you get only 1 chance to play first, and make your own decisions.
