Media: Videogames make you violent. All of us: NOOOOOOO, JASON, DON'T LEAVE SALIM!!!!! :(((( Btw, seeing Jason frustrated because he couldn't save Salim broke my heart
The first playthrough I've seen was Jason and Salim survived. Others died. They look better protagonists than the love triangle to be a honest, because they followed the foreshadowed two enemies that cooperate from the past. But that ending was they got rescued and both were questioned. Especially, Jason because he teamed up with Salim, the ones asking are suspicious why the others died. Too real.

I feel like if this game were to be made into a movie, the death order would go like this: -Rachel (shock the audience by killing off the supposed final girl before the ending) -Nick (sacrifices himself to detonate the hive to make the audience feel for him and see him as a selfless hero) -Eric (have him suddenly get killed during the final battle in the hut to scare the audience and make them realize that any character could die in this scene, even the group’s leader) -Jason (have him sacrifice himself for Salim) Salim would be the final survivor. He’s the only character to be confirmed to have a child, he’s easy to relate to and like, and he’s tough as nails. By far Salim and Nick were the best in this one because they didn’t want war they just followed orders and both of them wanted to see their families again. Just these endings good or bad or secret we all know that the people that didn’t see what truly happened down there would still blame the soldiers for siding with Salim or run tests on them instead of having the soldiers take hospitality to take care of them instead being dumb scientists and humans to immediately run tests after a freaking traumatic experience.
"I made it out, because I was stronger than them". Saving her from the infection, and having her break up with Nick and Eric, was fun. Plus she was more of a burden than helpful. (Depending on player choices of course). My biggest problem with her: "Your giving HIM, A gun?! He's our enemy!" She doubted Salim's skills. She lost the main character rights.
If I was Nick and the Interrogator asked me "How many organisms were still alive down there?" I would've said; I didn't have the time to count them, You wanna go down there and count them together?
Yeah the interrogators really pissed me off. They kinda reminded me of the Until Dawn ones. I don’t know why they didn’t believe them and acting like that, like they didn’t experience something really traumatising. I really don’t get it.
@@Adam-nm7nc I got you. I think they believed them or eventually would but wanted to be sure that they weren't under some kind of hallucinating agent or something and also to cover things up. In this case it's the second one because they found the creatures and other evidence and wanted to make sure what ever they discovered would stay hidden. Another thing that it's kind of irrelevant is that maybe they thought the survivors were tough guys physically and mentally and asking them questions won't bother them considering they survived a hell like that
@@Adam-nm7nc It's actually because, as the two people at the end said, "to the public, nothing even happened here". This means that they're just acting as though they care about what they have to say just so the scientists, who are just there to collect and test samples, think its non-violent just to inevitably kill the survivors (except Salim if he goes back to his son) so the information doesn't become public. An unfortunate end.
Salim saving Nick and then Nick saying to leave him makes no sense to me. Even in context of war and stuff I don't feel like Nick would have said that, especially in such an angry asshole way....
i think it's natural for human to think about their own survival or their group even when it means to abandon their savior by saying "it's for the good of many, sacrifice is needed"
I love how they low key set this game up in the first one, when they show the news paper on the Medan about Randolph exploring the cave system in a news paper article.
The chemists when they see the dead soldiers: "their testimony couldve been valuable" The chemists when the soldiers are alive: *"omfg they've all lost their fking minds!"*
They clearly have an ulterior motive, they want the testimonies so they have more info to work on when they inevitably poke that hornets nest again. The reason they "Don't believe" them is cause they're trying to gaslight the survivors into modifying their testimonies to keep the whole thing secret.
Seeing salim's end when the crew didn't wait for him actually broke my heart, this dude was a damn goat and was my fav for the whole game, this end is horrible :(

So, Dark Pictures (with exception for Until Dawn) game rankings so far: #1. Until Dawn (Classic, will always be the best… for now at least) #1.5: House of Ashes (VERY CLOSE to #1, but I just like Until Dawn more. Also… FREAKING ALIENS) #2. Little Hope (Way better than Man of Medan, and the Salem Witch Trials were very interesting) #3. Man of Medan (Flat out sucks because it was rushed, but I will give it some credit for connection to the true story) This is coming from a guy who has played all these games multiple times (except House of Ashes, I only just played it twice, but I was still BLOWN AWAY). Feel free to share your opinions in the comments and have an amazing day.
I’m fully convinced that Salim is an actual god made real. Man threw a metal spike through a vampire and tossed the body away like trash. What a badass
Nah, Rachel & Eric's accident happened right away when she drived her car away from Diner and right onto the road. The accident in Little Hope happened on a different road that was near a tunnel
I first thought those Vampires were straight up Demons from the bottom of Hell. When I played the demo, I saw no resemblance to Vampires… until I played the game myself.
They are the Architects. If you watched Alien and Prometheus, you know them. The whole story is them crashing on earth, and they were unable to return to Cetus, their home planet. If you read the notes and discover all the secrets, it will be all explained.

I mean I assume the devs would've loved to do it but a single more character able to live expands massively the branching of the routes, which is many more dialogues, animations, and writing on most of the game. Aka it demands much more budget than it is worth it. And the game as it is already seems to have cheapend on animations A LOT, I dont think that was possible sadly.
@@syrusangi8743 indeed. otherwise it wouldnt be Horror with just Extra characters being alive in the end. 5 main characters is enough for players to decide their own fates.
I really only feel bad Claurice, specially since she should be just as easy to save as Rachel. You literally already know that the UV light affects those things. You just get punished for trying to help her which is terrible. Besides she seems like a way nicer person than Rachel and Nick.
Jason going from being distrustful and disdainful of Salim to then screaming at people who might be his superiors to defend Salim is one of the best character growths in video games ever
For some reason, to me the ''canon'' ending seems to be where Salim is the only survivor considering he is the most badass and strongest and is the only one who knew how to kill a vampire, he seems the type to be the actual ''main'' character.
He's also the only one who truly has a reason to get out: he wants to see his son. The rest are escaping just for the sake of surviving (which isn't a bad thing at all, Salim just deserves the escape more in this case). Although, I hate seeing Jason die since he's my second favorite character, lol
I mean I liked the game but holy fuck the amount of bad animations (maybe some are bugs?) Is insane, but they are kind of well "hidden" because it never happens with whats the focus of the scene.
@@Reknilador the graphics are fine, by visuals he probably means the animations, there is a whooole lot of animations they clearly saved budget in. It didnt affect the experience too badly, I think it was a worth cut out of the budget, but its definetly hightly noticeable. To put it in perspective, neither of the previous games had nearly as bad animation ""bugs"" (they're not really bugs, just animations rushed or just not there for the sake of saving budget) as this one. But as I said, I think it wasnt only worth it, but they carefully made it so most of these are background stuff or not too noticeable, so its ok.
@Sez B During dialogues animations are clearly lacking, in fact the vampires are not shown at all on many scenes that they are present as to save the massive amount of budget that could've been blown on it for what is a small difference in experience. At the very beggining Rachel's reaction faces are non existent, Eric has at least one whole dialogue in that same section where he clearly has a generic standby animation that makes it so goofy. Through the game there are many of these, a lot compared to the previous two games, but they are carefully thought out as to not ruin the experience so as I said its fine.
This are the hardest to keep alive in this game (in my opinion): 1. Eric (he can die since the beginning of the game in the rope part with Rachel but he can also die because of Clarice if you keep her with you or the final boss battle) 2. Rachel (she can die in various different ways or get infected but she can also die in the final sequence) 3. Nick (the “place the explosives” part is really difficult if you choose to proceed so this is why he is difficult to keep alive, also if you play coop and you heal Nick before the cocoons part he is pretty much already screwed if you do not wake up the aliens before but he can also die in the ending) 4. Jason (you can get him killed in the sequence with Salim or in the endgame) 5. Salim (he basically only dies because you make the choice to leave him or in the final sequence)
Salim and Jason were definitely the MVP’s of this game and my 2 favorite characters, but Nick was also up there at 3, his redemption from being the home wrecker to preparing to sacrifice his life to keep his people alive-chef’s kiss.
In the end scene, where Nick has to plant the bombs. There is a chance that eric ignores nick's radio signal and says it was a ghost contact. Why? Is it because of their bad relationship between them that causes eric to ignore him?a streamer named Teo played it and that's how nick died :I
The subtitles are wrong in the endings where vampire Rachel attacks whoever is climbing up the ropes. The subtitle indicates its Clarice. I thought it was weird when Jason said ‘so long Queen’ when he cut her off the rope but didn’t think much of it, then when it’s Eric on the rope he actually says Rachel, but the subtitle still says Clarice
Can’t believe nobody caught this! Just remembered in the game Little Hope, their was one scene that Andrew picks up an object (I don’t remember which one) and it goes into a flashback but instead of going back in time, it shows Rachel falling down instead! When I first saw that I was like who was that? Then I watch this gameplay and realize that “wow these games are really connected” and they are!!!
There’s a foreshadowing secret in Man of Medan (I think it’s in one of the rooms after the gang meet up and start looking for a radio) that is one for little hope because I was very confused. I didn’t remember there being fire one the ship lol. But my boyfriend pointed it while he was sitting right next to me. I skipped little hope and went straight to house of ashes which I’m playing right now. I haven’t gotten a flash forward to devil in me but here around 1:20:24 the give lots of hints to it.

I feel like if this game were to be made into a movie, the death order would go like this:
-Rachel (shock the audience by killing off the supposed final girl before the ending)
-Nick (sacrifices himself to detonate the hive to make the audience feel for him and see him as a selfless hero)
-Eric (have him suddenly get killed during the final battle in the hut to scare the audience and make them realize that any character could die in this scene, even the group’s leader)
-Jason (have him sacrifice himself for Salim)
Salim would be the final survivor. He’s the only character to be confirmed to have a child, he’s easy to relate to and like, and he’s tough as nails. The ending where he walks off into the sunset as the sole survivor would be a great ending for a House of Ashes movie.

I wish Claurice, Merwin, Dar, and Joey weren’t 100% meant to die, wish they had a bigger role
It's a shame, but it made the game more real that you can't save everyone.
They had to be casualties to rise the stakes. Besides, too many characters to focus in the story so they had to prioritize n stay in track
Can’t believe they don’t have an ending scene where Salim get to see his boy and hug him dang it
For some reason, to me the ''canon'' ending seems to be where Salim is the only survivor considering he is the most badass and strongest and is the only one who knew how to kill a vampire, he seems the type to be the actual ''main'' character.
He's also the only one who truly has a reason to get out: he wants to see his son. The rest are escaping just for the sake of surviving (which isn't a bad thing at all, Salim just deserves the escape more in this case). Although, I hate seeing Jason die since he's my second favorite character, lol
I don't care what people say but Salim will always be a legend
I wonder what this game's visuals might have looked like if it had a bigger budget... still a great game though
I mean I liked the game but holy fuck the amount of bad animations (maybe some are bugs?) Is insane, but they are kind of well "hidden" because it never happens with whats the focus of the scene.
@Sez B Looked fine on my PC, main issue i got is that a saw a lot of flying static guns in the background for some scenes.
The game looks amazing, I dont understand the complaint about graphics. Maybe just the explosions, otherwise top notch graphics.

Kurum broke my heart. Imagine being there sitting, not alive nor dead...for millennia. URG, terrible!
This are the hardest to keep alive in this game (in my opinion):
1. Eric (he can die since the beginning of the game in the rope part with Rachel but he can also die because of Clarice if you keep her with you or the final boss battle)
2. Rachel (she can die in various different ways or get infected but she can also die in the final sequence)
3. Nick (the “place the explosives” part is really difficult if you choose to proceed so this is why he is difficult to keep alive, also if you play coop and you heal Nick before the cocoons part he is pretty much already screwed if you do not wake up the aliens before but he can also die in the ending)
4. Jason (you can get him killed in the sequence with Salim or in the endgame)

Sucks that there isn't an ending where Brooks and Miller, and those interrogators are murdered the most gruesome way possible.
Yeah for real, they found, what could possibly some world ending shit, and they're just chilling...
@@timelesspizza9892 I didn't understand this at all. What's down there is literally the end of the world if nothing is done about it and those demons start coming up at night time and roaming the lands. That honestly should've been nuked or at least completely exposed to the sunlight and destroyed. But no matter what, leaving those things down there is not smart at all. If they somehow adapt to sunlight, it's over for humanity.
