An analysis through Mark Fishers Gothic Materialism and cybernetic theory fiction would be an interesting analysis for an upcoming video, machines are alive and have more agency than ever while we humans are just objects, mines, and extraction material of those systems and machines.
I'm sure I've heard the refrain 'It's all bollocks' a few times on Acid Horizon😉 The use of wit and humour is a sharp polemical tool, especially around this issue, which can be totally bamboozling. The concept of intelligence, artificial or otherwise, is a debate in itself.
Outstanding. The willingness of AI developers to openly debate its dangers (in congress, and in endless podcasts with Lex Fucking Friedman, natch) is a dead giveaway that openness is not their agenda; the real agenda is far more sinister and ball-achingly familiar.
Systems like ChatGPT and Midjourney are rapidly increasing in capability. If the understanding of "AI" featured here is correct, would that have to be due to increasing the "microwork" labor force in order to feed them more data?
The simple response is that microwork is still ongoing and even if AI's capacities somehow exceeded the necessity for what we have identified as microwork here, we cannot deny the element of primary accumulation which has established it. But my prediction, like most other tech, is that it AI will not eliminate the demand for labor. It will continue to become a form of fixed capital with which laborers must contend as both a determinant in the market and the social field besides.
you make some interesting points, but i have two complaints: - the music is just a bit too loud compared to the voiceover - that's not how you spell your labour

I'd watch that for sure

Another reason why Kissinger et al think AI isn't human, is because they do not recognise the humanity they have abandoned.
excellent!! - would love you to post a biblio on current critiques of AI techno-dystopia :)
listening to this while labeling car images for some unknown corporation for some cents hahahaha
Great video! I was wondering if you guys ever stumbled upon Yanis Varoufakis ideia of Technofeudalism and his relation of data-commodity-labor.
At least Kissinger's Faustian bargain came due before we go into a new year.

AI could very well be cataclysmic when it doesnt turn out to be part of some nee exciting future. I dont think humanity can handle the let down.
anybody making an LLM trained on Marxist texts?

Great video, like most modern tech, ‘ai’ is another slight of hand tactic to fuck over workers
Great! So full of insights

All generative AI are - is the highest form of separating the creators from the fruit of their labor, an art laundering machine.
