I am a psych RN and this sounds right for what we would do in a hospital to someone on suicide precautions....it seems strange to me she still is really seeming suicidal after 22 days, but it's possible esp given her situation...given her reactions she may be someone who just says she is suicidal as she knows that it will continue this isolation from the general population...also consistent that she would be observed...if she was observed but the her and the lawyer's conversation bc they were watching, not listening...this seems more than fair if that is what the evidence shows..I love my job and the people help and some pts and inmates with psych issues are flat out abused mentally by staff and punished bc of judgment b staff..so like you can see both sides....she and Charlie had the smirking, etc thing...so strange...not a good look though..will be so interesting to see what the evidence shows in her case..but her trying to flee is highly suspicious...but I know adherence to the procedure is following the rules of the game...thanks for following it.

Agree and how rude that she continued to pronounce the name of the psychiatrist wrong when it was spelled multiple times for her. I take it she’s not a public defender.
Having personal experience in a county jail, and a week of "suicide watch" makes me see this ALOT differently then most. When i was first booked in i was not in the best mood. So when asked the series of medical questions i sarcastically answered yes to the are you feeling life isnt worth living. Not proud of it but thats what happened. From there i was stripped down and given a one piece kevlar feeling smok. Then placed in a pod where the officers were posted in the center. And all the inmates are around it. Imagine a clock and the middle is the desk and the numbers are all cells. These cells hold up to 4 people. You are given a mat and thats it. They dont provide you with food the same way. They bake all 3 meals for that day into 1 loaf for you to eat at night. Furthermore there is no showering, the officers do a round every 15 minutes and nothing. Once a week the "doc" decides where you go. I guess what im trying to say is i doubt that the jail actuallu looks into the problem and takes the time to each inmate. You have med school students passinh out pills, and they only provide you with what they decide. I was given a medication that i documented gave me horrible side effects. They didnt care. She deservrs to rot in prison but this idea of suicide watch is NOT what it seems and im not blaming the deputies. Its a funding issue along with a structural issue. Sorry fot the rant.
Thank you for sharing this insight. I’m really sorry you went through this, and you have nothing to be ashamed of with regards to how you answered those questions.
@Lawyer you know,Peter her attitude in court today didn't help her case? Continuing to want to be in control! The judge is very observant and D.A. attorney says she can go over all the evidence in a weekend? The two deserve each other.
Perhaps we should have a larger conversation about jail and prison conditions, and not just discuss them when wealthy people are arrested. Donna Adelson is privileged, and has the capacity to pay a lawyer to argue against the conditions, it would be lovely if other prisoners had their interests taken as seriously.
That’s a great point. As much as i can’t wait to see Donna Adelson brought to justice, the jail conditions in our country are truly deplorable. Truly inhumane in so many cases and the CO’s treat the inmates like garbage.
@@angieblove I doubt she cares about anyone but herself (obviously, given why she is in jail), but maybe she can accidentally do good for others -- use those high-priced lawyers to bring attention to the horrific conditions in jails and prisons.
This is something I talk about all the time Made articles about this Injustice system we have. It's about money talks and shit walks. It doesn't have to with much with color, as much as it has to do with who has money and power. I should know I have been in jail before. Even the police said I got a bad deal. Luckily, I got off on the crime. We, have politicians that do things worse than the mafia, and get away with it and server no jail or prison time. I have known politicians personally, so I hate them all. I'm glad I went to jail. Also, the corruption of our jail and prison system and guards. It was a wake up call in learning what an Injustice system we have. I have no respect for such a system. Where stupid judges won't let the defendants also speak for themselves, and can use Made-up rules of Contempt of court. Where you can't question judges in court or argue on their corruption or argue with a judge on bs.
49:28 I want to point out that mental health and wellness is constantly changing. Just because Miami didn’t feel she’s at risk doesn’t mean she isn’t NOW at risk. That can change in an INSTANT, not to mention days. I find the defense’s argument disingenuous. I’ve personally seen those held in mental health facilities pending legal action change on a dime. A single bad day can make a normally healthy individual suicidal. And the. You can’t just take them off precautions the next day if they don’t endorse SI (suicidal ideation). You have to be wary of them lying so they can self harm. You need to work off BEHAVIORS, not words.
Donna is her own worse enemy. I have worked as a clinician in a psychiatric hospital. The patients rarely see the psychiatrist daily. There is a round table discussion on a weekly basis or more often if needed when all involved in the care of an individual can discuss issues. There are times when the individual is asked to attend. As a clinician the interaction is not always a sit down conversation, it can be observations or discussions with other staff. My experience is in a hospital setting, not a jail. Donna, as we have heard, can’t keep her mouth shut and it is or can be to her peril.
Watching the recording. I'm paraphrasing what I heard: The prison emphasized that someone on this watch list can be escorted to a room. The lawyer can meet in person. A guard will watch through the glass to maintain the safety of the prisoner from the risk of self harm. They will be watched and checked that they do not try to carry anything out of the room, back to their cell. The defense attorney keeps mentioning tablets, zooms, remotes, etc. I'm hearing that this attorney refuses to get out of her office, travel to the prison, go through the extra safety checks needed, and follow the strict guidelines to meet with her client that is under the special rules of the su1cide prevention. The defense attorney also made a big show about evaluations, etc, but has never actually requested the actual record of those visits that would have been recorded. The defendant has not had her rights infringed upon. Her defense attorney hasn't followed basic procedures to meet with her in person. The defense attorney is deflecting the blame from herself, attempting to gaslight her client into blaming the prison. 🤦♀️
@@debbievalentine6810 That's what you decided to focus on? Really? What word I used? You completely ignored the actual subject of the comment itself. What it is called is not relevant to a lawyer refusing to drive up to visit in person, even if they have to stay at a nearby hotel for however many days of visits that is necessary. The lawyer is gaslighting about the system in place for people who are in the special unit.
@@elizabethbottroff1218 no not the word its self, policy is vastly different in jail from prison as well as the rights you have. It also tends to confuse a lit of folks in other countries as to our actual system

I think this put the sheriffs on notice to pay attention to what is going on in the jail. The court is on notice also. Donna needs to hire a local lawyer to get through the BS.
Honestly, this is my favorite thing to watch gaslighters/manipulators be in. Donna can't control or lie her way out of this. All the tactics she used in her family are ineffective and that reality hasn't sunk in yet. It's chicken soup for the soul for people who've dealt with that sh*t from their families.
And her attorney knows by calling the jail she wont be able to get through? Most of us are unable to just to make visitation appts! Her attorney is hilarious! Come on lady get up and go in person to speak to your client? And I dont even have a degree ,just commen sense.
Honestly…I think that the psychiatrist likely relies on certain staff like Nurse Practitioners or registered psychiatric nurses to do assessments then reviews the cases and only does direct assessments as needed. They likely work as a team. I do think the psychiatrist should be touching base with the patient at some point in a 3 week period. Moral of this story is don’t make idle suicide threats because nothing will suspend your rights as quickly and easily as being caught in mental health acts most places in the world.😊
At the psych hospital I worked at a patient had to be willing to contract for safety before they are taken off suicide watch and must promise to inform staff of suicidal thoughts. Ms. Adelson may not be willing to do that.
If the defense was so concerned about reports why didn't she ask the jail for them or subpoena the medical records. This is why i have a hard time believing the defense. However, it definitely can be difficult to get in touch with government officials.

The court has no role in most of these decisions. It’s a problem for all inmates not just Donna. This is more of an incarceration reform issue than Donna being treated poorly as an individual.
Anytime someone like Donna ends up in jail and whines about the conditions I'm just rolling my eyes, because, while yes every human being deserves basic dignity and our prison system is vile when it comes to how we treat people, I just find it gross how *suddenly* this rich, white, ahole being held accountable now has something to say about the conditions. It's like when Elizabeth Holmes tried to be like "but my kids will be without their mom!" As a means to get out of serving her time. A) there are scores of mothers who miss their children's entire childhoods because of weed possession, sit down and serve your 11 years in bougie jail for fraud you rightfully committed. And b) funny how we're all pretty sure you popped those kids out to make that exact argument (she had them while she was on trial, she really thought that thar would be effective and she'd just get out of it).
Yes. She's the exact type of rich ahole who lives by "rules for thee, not for me". Also kinda funny how she told Charlie to plan the murder and when he's convicted she's nowhere to be found. I laugh at Charlie because imagine being such a spineless excuse of an adult that you end up in prison for life because "mommy gave you an order and you did it" 😂

I can hear Donna's mind ticking from 9,000 miles away. According to emails sent to her daughter Wendi during 'the relocation debacle' (from 9.5 years ago) she is a keen advocate of 'play acting' in order to achieve desired outcomes.

Not defending Donna, by any means. If you listened to the hearing, states clearly, Donna doesn't and hasn't had a tablet. And, exactly what she has and had since her incarceration. "Even a toothbrush can be dangerous to one on suicide watch". Imo, the defense attorney is grasping and the "person in charge" of the jail is clueless. Pity is all I can say about this situation, because we live in the best country and can't seem to get back to our own Constitution!
@dena7316 lol "best country". Bullshit. We tell ourselves that so that we never demand better. We can't figure out Healthcare despite almost every other country figuring that out, we live in a system that exploits and degrades the poor while allowing the top 1% to hide their money from ever paying their share, we clutch our pearls at universal basic income or low cost education because "its socialist", we have a culture that boasts and flaunts its ignorance of the rest of the world, and our justice system regularly f*cks up and allows law enforcement to get away with brutality and infringing on our rights. This country isn't the best and anyone who says it is has never lived anywhere else and just swallowed that lie. Tell yourself that lie if you want, but I'll just laugh at that delusion. Donna is only whining about the consequences of her words and actions actually biting her in the a$$. She didn't give a shite about the systemic abuses until it actually hit her. She can just suck it up and her defense team can cope and seethe with it.

Zapp does not have to speak to donna to assess her. She can watch her from outside the cell and even listen to her interactions with other staff. Donna never has to see her.
@lawyeryouknow I performed an investigation on a company whose CEO told me how the company operates. However, that was not what I observed going on in practice. So, is it possible that the chief is stating how the jail is supposed to operate but that is not going on in practice?
I'm guessing that in prison/jail, there is a chief doctor over all the staff for psychiatry who basically oversees the other providers. They don't always examine prisoners themselves but review the records and interviews done by their staff. And how many other inmates are on this kind of watch? She is not the only one, meaning Donna A. so it's what happens in the process. DA is probably being treated just like the other inmates. It's not private insurance any longer!
They said that she stated (when she was in booking at this jail) that she wanted to die so I believe THAT is why she was placed in Observation at this jail.
Personally, I have experienced a real struggle when trying to get ahold of clients, share or retrieve info, etc. with the jails and prisons but especially since that big illness. No idea why or what happened. It's like these institutions went into a black hole o.o IF you can get ahold of someone, good luck...

This defense lawyer is getting paid huge money and has waited 22 days. She has only relied on trying to call. She should have already drove to that county jail and try and remedy this situation and also speak with her client. Unacceptable
And after saying she tried to call, she asked for their business cards.
@@MandyAltamirano- Good point.
Lazy!
DA should have hired a local lawyer. Its not the states job to tutor Marisel regarding jail protocol
She is hateful
She mispronounced DR Sapp’s name despite the deputy spelling it. No respect from me.
Members on this channel are SO generous! I haven't seen this on any other channel. That says a lot about you Peter and your fans! ❤
I watched this earlier and imo, Donna's attorney is trying to make excuses for her lack of representation for her client. So sad, maybe a change of attorneys may be a good move for Donna. Whether guilty or not, Donna does have the right to a fair trial. I'd be scared to have her as my counsel.
Agree and how rude that she continued to pronounce the name of the psychiatrist wrong when it was spelled multiple times for her. I take it she’s not a public defender.
She is really unlikable!
Donna is a fool if she keeps that attorney and doesn't find a top rated local criminal defense attorney
TBH.....it wouldn't matter if she had the best lawyer on the planet...she is f'd !
I don’t think there is an attorney in America that could get Prima Donna Adelson off in this case.
She's too cheap.
So many gifted memberships, just awesome , thank you to everyone who are so generous… ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait to watch this trial!
Oh well so sad to bad.
@@angieblove I doubt she cares about anyone but herself (obviously, given why she is in jail), but maybe she can accidentally do good for others -- use those high-priced lawyers to bring attention to the horrific conditions in jails and prisons.
@@ArticulateVelociraptorPrisoners need no good done on their behalf. Stuff a rag in that bleeding heart of yours. Off the soapbox now.
Donna is giving me Darrell Brooks vibes. If she’s not careful, she’s going to get sent to time out by the judge.
💯 definitely shades of Darrell Brooks
If using Sarah Boone's defense claiming "No malicious!" doesn't fly, maybe run with, "It was NOT intentional!"😂😂😂
Watching the recording. I'm paraphrasing what I heard:
The prison emphasized that someone on this watch list can be escorted to a room.
Yes, yes, yes
Its not a prison its a jail... Big difference, huge difference!
Peter, your brilliance and equanimity set your channel apart from most of YT - or other lawyers, for that matter.
Thank you for setting the bar so high - no pun intended.
I think this put the sheriffs on notice to pay attention to what is going on in the jail. The court is on notice also. Donna needs to hire a local lawyer to get through the BS.
Donna was adamant that the suicide discussion didn’t happen. I hope they play the call.
I'm sure Chief Mack has more than just this evil woman to think about!
Peter, you are so loved. You have a wonderful attitude and are so fair on all the issues.
Subpoena the doctor. As I judge I would find it hard to have patience with this shit. It's just to bolster a speedy trial gambit
This woman actually scares me. Not only because she looks like the crypt keeper and has crazy eyes, I think it’s more the darkness I feel from her. Empty, hollow, darkened soul. How does someone ever have peace within themselves again? I could not.

Notice how Donna's lawyers didn't bring in the doctor....narcs gonna narc.
Did Donna TRULY think she was going to board that plane and fly away?
Yes. She's the exact type of rich ahole who lives by "rules for thee, not for me". Also kinda funny how she told Charlie to plan the murder and when he's convicted she's nowhere to be found. I laugh at Charlie because imagine being such a spineless excuse of an adult that you end up in prison for life because "mommy gave you an order and you did it" 😂
Chief Mack wasn’t on trail was he. The way the Defense Attorney. Spoke to him was very harsh
That’s exactly what i thought. She was extremely aggressive.

This defense attorney sounds waaaaay too hostile while questioning the chief. It would not go over well with me if I were a juror.
I can hear Donna's mind ticking from 9,000 miles away. According to emails sent to her daughter Wendi during 'the relocation debacle' (from 9.5 years ago) she is a keen advocate of 'play acting' in order to achieve desired outcomes.
As always., thanks Peter for all your patient explanations. Watched on replay crew today.
Question specifically about her not knowing how to contact other attorneys. Doesn’t the Florida Bar have that information?? Couldn’t she have looked there?? I have questions.

She isn't allowed to have paper but has a tablet so her communication with her lawyer isn't totally cut off.
Thus community is very generous! I love this channel and everyone in chat♥️

Wouldn’t Rashbaum meeting with Donna and Charlie be a conflict? I know she’s not supposed to talk to any co-defendants.
Im sick of her
Leave her rot in solidarity.
Ty. So much for explaining the trial, hearing, for us.
They said that she stated (when she was in booking at this jail) that she wanted to die so I believe THAT is why she was placed in Observation at this jail.
Thank you- I caught that too!
You speak so clearly + beautifully.
Personally, I have experienced a real struggle when trying to get ahold of clients, share or retrieve info, etc. with the jails and prisons but especially since that big illness. I spent time in mental health hospitals in 3 different states - and will tell you for certain that systemic screw-ups like these happen All. The. Time. Plus, conditions in these facilities, even on a good day, are horrific. Not at all a fan of Donna or any of the Adelsons (please, never!!) but can guess that things are way, way worse for her than they're getting across here. And jails and prisons?? Wow, can't even let my mind go there
You are very right @amynickell7487
Congratulations! Go you guys!👏🏼👏🏼
The process to get visits is different for family and media for 1. Generally if you are in protection unit, given the amount of people in it it can take up to 3 weeks or more to speak with an attorney due to the amount of staffing.
Your assessments r so refreshing.
Your golf story at the end was heartwarming and had me smiling the entire time and I dont even golf! It's nice to hear genuine excitement like that it's good stuff
Hiya Peter! ❤❤❤ Poor, poor Donna. 😢 Do the crime, pay the price.
Yeah what about her son in-law whose life was taken because she wanted to have her way may she have the hardest time in there and dream about him every night
but you see, those were things that happened to someone else... someone she didn't like who stopped her from getting exactly what SHE wanted... she's the real victim here, guys /s. 😂😂
I hope that if Donna gets life like her little baby boy who had to committ murder like mommy told him to gets to regularly update us about how hard it is and how it's so unfair and she just gets an interviewer pulling a Jodi Arias post trial interview and being like "no one likes you or believes you... why do you keep talking".
Defense counsel sounds too angry to me. It's going to put the jury off if this is her norm.
