    Steel being charged with contempt was the catalyst for this verdict. The contempt charge eventually led to Glanville’s recusal. The assigning of Judge Whitaker turned this case around. She saved these men in my opinion.

    As a retired police officer I am usually pro prosecution. After this case I think every trial should be televised.
    So many times the prosecution did not have evidence ready for the defense or exhibits. The Judge would chastise DA Love or Hylton for failing to have exhibits ready and tell them to by a deadline to get them to the defense. Then deadline would pass and it wasn’t done, or the DAs would say they emailed them after 10:00pm when they would be used the next morning in court. I felt Love and Hylton lied many times during the case as far as CYA on evidence and exhibits being delivered to the defense.
    I also felt police officers/detectives lied on the stand or were less than truthful. All the missing police reports and it was chalked up to the City computers being hacked. Even a female detective said her personal hard drive was hooked up to they system when the a City’s computers were hacked, so she lost the contents of her hard drive. I call bs, I had more than one hard drive because I worked on cases at home. When a citizen looses their files during an investigation or resets their phone and claims being hacked, they are charged with tampering with evidence. Atlanta PD has lazy sloppy officers.
    I also believe the missing pink $500,000 watch was stolen by a female investigator. I suspect she turned off her camera at the end of the search warrant and went back in to look for something accidentally on purpose she claims she left behind and stole the watch or she was said she was looking for someone. 💯 a female stole that pink watch.
    I loved Doug Weinstein closing arguments. He flew under the radar for me during the trial, but wow - I would have voted not guilty for Doug’s client. Loved his closing.

      Detective Gaither blatantly lied numerous times, Detective Thorpe lied, Detective Hogan just a lazy azz detective and lied by just being stupid, and last but not least Viverito lied, stole, and deceived with evidence. She literally said she would still turn in the evidence of Thug saying "24m in his head", after Schardt informed her what Thug was referring to isn't the evidence she's portraying. Also, the cop that unfortunately got shot lied bc on stand his testimony was completely different from the bodycam video.

    I’ve been threatened by the prosecutor for taking a case to trial. One time it was so blatant that it was . I had a juvenile delinquency case where I was defending a teenager who did not want to admit to the crime and wanted to take it to trial. We scheduled the trial and on the day of trial, The prosecutor was not ready with her witnesses and threatened us that if he didn’t take a deal, she was going to dismiss the charges and file for higher charges with harsher penalties. I was furious at the unethical conduct. I went right into the courtroom and told the judge and the prosecutor‘s boss and the families and the witnesses and every attorney that was in the hallway also. She soiled her integrity and never play that game with me again.

It wasn’t a good outcome because his father is abusive and not stable and 3 time felon due to the the domestic abuse) I actually had to get a little upset at my lawyer during the 3rd mediation because he wasn’t fighting for us, miserable experience..

  • @somewhat.random
    @somewhat.random 20 часов назад +31

    The problem for the State in this case was simple: they had the guy who committed one of the crimes on the stand testifying, but he wasn't charged. Pretty obvious if they had charged Woody with the Thomas murder, he'd have been more likely to be convicted. The Drinks murder? That random speeding car coming up to the stop light was the biggest problem. Had the police bothered to do their job and investigated THAT car, and been able to confidently rule out that the people in it were involved, we might have seen a different result. Shoddy work by the police, shoddy work by the Prosecution. Instead? They came up with this stupid RICO thing, and hoped piling on immaterial nonsense would allow them to "blind them with bullsh!t".

    • @MrMzcurlz1
      @MrMzcurlz1 5 часов назад

      Right, I agree the prosecution overbid their hand. That Rico charge and pulling all of them in together for that case was too much they just should have charged Wootie. They probably would have gotten a conviction. And then for the prosecution to pretty much force him to testify or go to jail was crazy. You can just give someone immunity that they didn't bargain for and then if they don't testify, they go to jail !?!? I had no idea that was even a thing. The prosecutors were just not prepared, they look sloppy. The trial was not fair, that was the problem. Justice is supposed to be equal and unbiased. (in reality we know that is BS) but to just blatantly be biased!!! Don't even get me started on Judge Glanville!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ WTH. Thank goodness for Judge Whitaker .The prosecution gave that case away. I hope these men (defendants) recognize the opportunity they have been given and make the very best decisions going forward.

Then, after Thanksgiving, they asked for evidence on Stillwell. Gas station footage, fed ex footage, a call thst the jury thought was Stillwell (it wasn't so they were told that) and lyrics. Judge Whitaker did questions juror 56 in front of the defense and prosecutors away from the rest of the jury and his main issue was the length of the trial thinking it would be another 6 months. Whitaker guaranteed him it would not be 6 more months and would most likely be done by the end of the year. He said he could still be fair and impartial. But Whitaker also told the state that he started out impartial and that it was on the state to give him enough evidence so he could side with the state and basically she said the state was not doing their job in her own Whitaker type way.

    One of the detectives(V), had it in her hands when she was in his house doing inventory and now it’s missing, which was the watch that cost $500,000.

      That missing watch bothers me because it was a gift from Drake. Young Thug should sue the City of Atlanta for it going missing. They are responsible because they had NO procedure in collecting these expensive items from his house.

      This is true. There’s more than one battle being fought. The DA’s office failed the families of those guys. Gave them false hope 10’yrs later all while violating the rights of several others solely to advance their careers and make a name for themselves. They certainly succeeded in making a name for themselves. Now their names will be remembered, as failures, and deceptive attorneys. They did not care about crime or making criminals pay.

    • @SaraisDaughter
      @SaraisDaughter 18 часов назад +2

      People are not disregarding the victims. This is our system of justice at work and it’s on the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the defendant is guilty. They didn’t due to their own negligence. There were gapping holes in their prosecution that should have been handled. That’s on them not we the public. Personally, I don’t think anyone wants the guilty to go free, but, we also don’t want an innocent person going to prison for a crime they didn’t do. And in this case I believe the jury made the right decision based on the evidence presented.

      That’s true but it’s the state fault for going after who they wanted and not who really did it…. Woody would have been a good defendant for Nuts death. The third car at the red like should have been investigated for Drinks murder. The family should be upset with the prosecutors.

    No people should be able to sue if they are found not guilty I’m sure a manner. These judges/DA’s shouldn’t get to hide behind immunity when they don’t morally and ethically do the jobs they were elected to. And we are seeing more and more of this happening now. Let them feel the pressure to do right. They have such big egos and act like they are gods… they are not! If they did the job they would have nothing to worry about. Cops lost immunity so why should judges/DA’s keep it.

    I live in NYS. Several years ago our church would host a candidate’s night before elections and invite the community so that voters could hear the candidates’ platform and ask them questions. The judges were not allowed to answer questions on their general philosophy and how they would function in their role.
    I don’t know if that is just a new york state rule or not, but it was so frustrating. It was like buying a pig in a poke.

    I think the DA office (Fani and Love) would also take into consideration the judge (Whittaker) on this trial and knowing the poor views she has of the performance of the prosecutors so far they know they’ll have an uphill battle. Their best bet is to go back and lick their wounds and re-strategise. They have a really fine goal to rid the state of gangs. All they need to do is focus on collecting real evidence, recent criminal activity (so collection of evidence is easy) and move away from the easy targets young rappers who are trying to get their life together and actually move away from the gang and street violence.

    The Jury has spoken, wrong never was going to a hang jury on Stilwell, questions on lyrics was for only one juror never was a factor of Stilwell being guilty, one juror had her facts wrong they only wanted to review it to show her because she didn’t quite understand English. Juror #225 said they didn’t believe any of the DA evidence, didn’t believe it was a crime gang, never found RICO, & video about Drinks was to show in verse that the car didn’t move after Stilwell pulled off, that it moved & brake light came on after the car behind Stilwell, they be levied just like myself the car behind Stilwell was the shooter. A very smart observing jury. Jury #225 stated it was not guilty from the start, however, on juror didn’t quite understand English. & also they took one at a time Yak first Shannon second, Yak not guilty on December 2 & on December 3 Shannon not guilty except for gun charge.

    Come to find out, only one juror requested to hear the lyrics back because the juror interviewed says she believes it was due to English being her second language and she couldn't understand it the first time. This was in a live while jurors were giving interviews, and she seemed to be guessing about the second language part.

  • @jessicalewis1426

    Some other jurors said there was only one who wanted to hear the lyrics because English wasn’t her first language and couldn’t understand some of the songs.
