  • A mother’s greatest fear came true on June 4, 2010, when her 7-year-old son disappeared without a trace. Kyron Richard Horman’s stepmother said she dropped him off at his Oregon elementary school but Kyron did not make it to his first class of the day. Investigators immediately launched an extensive search for Kyron, recruiting over 300 trained rescuers and 1300 volunteers to search for the missing boy for 10 days. Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, sits down for an in-depth interview with cold case advocate and recovery expert Doug Bishop to tell the story.

Kyron vanished from his elementary school in Portland, Oregon, launching an agonizing missing child case that gripped the nation. After his stepmother dropped him off that morning and snapped a photo showing him proudly displaying his science project while wearing a CSI shirt, Kyron was seen at the school by witnesses. However, he never made it to class and never returned home on the bus. Kyron's tragic story highlights the heartbreak of the estimated 250,000 missing women and children whose cases go unresolved each year, their families left without answers as the mysteries compound with each passing day.

I have listened to a lot of True crime podcasts, and there are a few cases where people where they have absolutely no evidence against them and they are serving life in prison. In fact, two that I heard the police found unidentified DNA but didn't expore that.
So I don't understand why the police haven't charged her.
In one case, a wife was tied up by the arms, not the wrist, and she was locked in a closet by a chair. They found the DNA of a woman and a man, but the wife was convicted of the murder of her husband.

I'm not one to jump on parents or step without sufficient evidence, it bothers me when the masses do that to grieving parents based on easily refutable evidence, but Terri Horman had *more* than enough to convict. They were about to arrest her, and when Casey Anthony was acquitted they chickened out because they feared a loss. Wouldn't have happened, she'd be in prison where she belongs. Botched case...read up on all the missed opportunities. She's a monster.

Back when it happened, every time the mom had the microphone, she started with a description of how she was cheated on and continued by saying: “she is sure who did it and clearly named the step-mother”.
Hate comments of mother toward step-mother became the reason for law-enforcement to look at the opposite direction.
In the history of child abduction, every time someone (court - police - city - media or parents) said with certainty “they know who did it” and named a person, the child ended up staying lost.

No 7 yo just "vanishes" .. it's not to say that random kidnapping doesn't happen but 9 out of 10 times -- the guilty one is usually someone closest to the victim.
My heart goes out to his loved ones.
Perseverance of the LEO will prevail. (The mom just needs the "right" team)

This is so sad. She killed that little boy. I literally can’t imagine I have a 4 year old little boy and it’s earth shattering just trying to imagine how difficult something like this would be especially to never have answers. I’m so so sorry 💔 Sending prayers for Kyron to come home.

This case was so publicized but I feel the investigation dropped the ball. I feel the police did shoddy work on the investigation or Terri would have been arrested and charged years ago.

Seems like evidence to me, photos cctv cameras date and time stamped witnesses. Seen leaving with him, takes weird random route into forest areas after, dumps phones.
