it's all wrong. americans just lack the british awkwardness -- the british brew of well-mixed self-doubt and self-consciousness -- to make this funny.
american ppl are too well-connected with the ambience while the brits are constantly bewildered by it, thus embarrassed by their inability to adapt quickly, which subsequently lead to a desperate crave for escapism (sometimes similar to ostriches' method).
