@@sbollin4321 albums 2?, 3, 4 coproduced but not Hello Nasty, To the 5 Boroughs, the Mix Up or Hot Sauce Committee part 2. So a little less than half the albums.
Beasties played a major role in creating the beat no matter if using SP1200, MPC or using instruments. They had coproducers but they were driving the ship. Even when it came to the label they were left alone.
yeah they didn't have to rely on it like some modern rappers, but of course they cursed all the time, and one of their songs is literally "Hey Fuck You". But their major radio hits came at a time when people were literally afraid of rap, you had to be clean on radio.
Rick Rubin's involvement never went beyond their first record. Their second record was co-produced by the Dust Brothers. This third record, Check Your Head was produced by Beastie Boys along with Mario C. Aside from Mario C., the boys mostly produced the other records as a group. This was the first single from Check Your Head that I heard, and I was floored at how gnarly and loud and fantastic it is. So What'cha Want and Pass The Mic are my favorite tracks from that record.
Thanks for the background on the video … WOLFEN is a movie a lot of us knew. I love how they reference common-culture elements from their childhood: the cop series in Sabotage, the Godzilla movies in Intergalactic, and the positive name drops of people who have influenced them (or whom they respect). Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to more of the BBs.
My favorite of all time by them, that beat is so sick. When Licensed To Ill came out, I never thought in a million years that they would revolutionize hip hop the way they did, but yet, here we are. Legends.
Rhyming and stealing is a must, and you get to see them live at a show in their music video, they are wild dudes! The song “gratitude” shows off their talent with playing they instruments. both are one of my favorite songs
I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys( born 1976 ) Had the first two albums on vinyl as a kid, and I still listen to them often. This album, Ill Communication and Paul’s Boutique are albums you can throw on at a party or BBQ and everyone will be bopping along.
Back in the day, you had artists that did not cuss, and the music was about having fun . The Beasties were all about having fun. Every video shows that and of course never forget how cool they were !
Not very bands have created a whole sound,..they got there very own sound! Creative as they come 🔥🧨✨they stayed involved in all phases of production✌️😎
It's a radio edit, so they do curse on albums. However, after the early years they took a very strong stance against lyrics about misogyny and violence. I seen them live in Ireland in the 90's, they asked The Prodigy not to play Smack my B**ch Up. The Prodigy came on and played it first song and dissed The Beasties and then put on a high energy show. Then the Beastie Boys came on, said it's not cool to promote violence against women and blew them out of the water with an amazing set.
Check out "Jimmy James" from this album or "Professor Booty" fire tracks. Mario Caldato Jr, aka Mario C was the engineer on Paul's Boutique and the producer for Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty, he was essential. Beastie Boys had a bad falling out with Rick Rubin and Def Jam, so they took their talents to Capitol Records and the rest is history.
I’ve been listening since release of first album in mid 80’s during H.S. Still one of my favorite songs all time. ☑️ The New Style… and Paul Revere next
I missed the Girls reaction. I've been listening to Beastie Boys since the 80's and I get it, Girls was a pretty generic track. I never owned it on CD. Just cassette and vinyl. So I never skipped it but I would had it been convenient. You definitely hit the right reaction to wash that taste out your mouth with this one. This track is fire, from the production down to the delivery. You should check out the live version on the Arsenio Hall show. Cypress Hill joins them with a couple extra verses. It's pretty epic.
Hmm, they were fire 🔥 Fir real. We jammed them, Class of 86. It was a problem, for others lol. Ll Cool J, NWA, Beastie Boys. I was heavy metal. 6/28/92 Deer Creek 🦌 IN. My first Grateful Dead show, what a show, what a first set in the 90s. #luck was awesome #changedmylife
Rick Rubin was only on board for the Beasties FIRST album. They left Def Jam and New York City after the first album. (Def Jam screwed them out of tons of money). Their second album and this album was produced by the dust brothers. This album is their 3rd album (1992) and in my opinion, this is their best. There are tons of curse words on Paul's boutique, but considering it's sales were lower, maybe they (the Beasties themselves) made a decision to make this album more commercial and MTV ready.
Biz Markie sampled from two seperate tracks. One is from Big Daddy Kane track "Just Rhymin' With Biz" and one from "Drunken Praying Mantis" by Beastie Boys.
That’s definitely not Rick Rubin. That’s mostly Adrock. And they are not drums. They hooked up a guitar into a big wooden box that they built themselves. That driving beat you hear is the strum of a guitar.
Rick Ruben produced ONE album. That's it. He pushed for more straight rock samples over entire tracks. They said nope. Went to Cali and got better. The beats are what THEY wanted. They got better and better. Enough Rick Ruben credit already
It's because at the beginning on MTV and such, in order to sell their first album they basically were the '80's LMFAO' just college white frat boy toxic masculinity
No sleep is on Licensed to ill. This is not, nor is Sabotage. Yes, girls was on Licensed to ill..... Still was there best album by far. Individual songs should be called tracks or cuts. Please do 'Fight for your Right.'. & dont be slacking on your research;; that's the only reason Y you're better than Polo
Not Rick Rubin, he only produced their first album, Licensed to Ill. This is Mario Caldato. (Mario C).
I love hearing them dropping “Marioooo” in their lyrics. 😊
It seemed he produced most of their recordings post-Licensed to Ill(?).

"Mario C likes to keep it clean" 😉
my fave Beastie Boys song! ♥

And they were a fucking amazing live show. Saw them 3 times and each time was just awesome.
I love every Beastie Boys song but this is my absolute favorite!
This was the fucking jam in 93 for us skater kids
THIS!!! My adolescence.
Beasties don't have to curse, they just made dope ass Hip Hop.

Dude on another comment recalled Mario C likes to keep it clean. And thats a fact.

Let’s not forget Money Mark on Keys

If you are watching official videos, you are getting the Mtv rated version. The album version has the swearing unedited.
I never get tired of this song. Never.
The opening line to the song is” Mario C. You can’t front on that.”
they used real instruments , they did exactly what they wanted it to be 🔥
Cooler than a cucumber in a bowl of hot sauce!
Their element is whatever element they want to do, you know this brother! ❤️🇦🇺

The song “gratitude” shows off their talent with playing they instruments. both are one of my favorite songs
He says it. They cuss. "Fucking thorn in my side"
That was from the song 'Sabotage'. And the only swear he says in this song is the 'illest mother****** from here to Gardenia.'
So now it's clear to everyone Whatcha want from BBs, it's this.

Yup. My fave beat by them that they ever released.
Beastie Boys are the greatest group of all time and not just in hip hop

Only one of a handful of bangers on Check Your Head.

They have a song titled Hey Fuck You. Actually another great song from them.

I'll throw in a vote for "Professor Booty" it shows off their MC skills a little more the most, imo.

That song was censored. They do cuss in several of their songs, but its very sparing compared to these days.
You’re watching an edited video. You want to hear cussing listen to an early song called”Scenario “ which was too controversial for the debut album
RIP MCA
They are playing drums, bass and guitar on this I'm pretty sure.
Have you checked out root down?
Check out High Plains Drifter and New Style. Bangers

The cusses aren’t edited out on the albums
Well, did this rev your engine back up?

Radio play was key back then. Cursing wouldn't work
They curse, just not excessively. This versiion was censored. Not so on their albums
They cursed, just not profusely. The music videos, most of the older ones, were censored for MTV though. The albums are uncensored.
My parents always told me cursing is the sign of poor intelligence you can learn to use your words another way..... Eventually I said fuck that
lol you reviewed girls? if you need a list of what to listen to i’m your man- and they curse in songs but not that much you're right
the original doesn't have the censored bit. ruins that bit of the song. there was no issue with cursing when it came out.
I think beasties split with def jam by the time this came out so the productions all beastie boys
Still the hottest shit ever made. 💯😎
The Beastie's spent their entire careers trying to skip the Girls record. It stinks.
Who gives a fuck. They wrote it, rehearsed it, and recorded it. It is what it is, fuck it. Licensed to Ill is one of the best albums of all time
