Can we get kudos for the music arranger who made the haunting orchestral version of the Sesame Street theme song in a minor key? I laughed way too hard when I realized what it was.
Angel Lin To be fair, the melody was never purely major- the original melody already had the minor third and seventh scale degree as blue notes in a few places. In fact the major third scale degree doesn’t occur once. It’s really the underlying chord progression that’s been changed.

David Harbour did such a good job on SNL and especially with this pretaped skit. I didn't really think much of him appearing as a guest on this show. But oh man he really did great. I think he's such a good actor and I love that he can be a dramatic and comedic actor. He definitely captured that dark comedyesque nature in this and the darkness that Joaquin had in the Joker. I'm so happy for his success and I saw a behind the scenes of Stranger Things. The directors, producers, and casting wanted well known veteran actors for the adult actors since all the kids were unknown. The directors and producers wanted people like Ewan McGregor or Sam Rockwell for his role but the casting agent loved David and pushed HARD for him to be cast. Thank God they listened to the casting director because he's perfect for the role and I could not imagine anyone else playing that character.
I heard David Harbour interview with Terry Gross; he said that when he was hosting SNL he came to the writers with an idea for Oscar the Grouch parody and the SNL writers created, filmed, and produced it in 3 days. Pure genius.
Yes the SNL production and cast deserve more credit than people give them. Sure the writing for some sketches turn out to be little off sometimes but overall the amount of effort and time everyone at SNL puts into these weekly show schedule is amazing
With the way that SNL has NO creative ideas whatsoever these days...they probably pray that any special guest host they bring in will have at least 2-3 good idea for sketch's. The show stopped being funny when I was entering High School at the end of the 90's. At least that was the beginning of the heavy decline in quality. I think a lot of it has to do with Jimmy Fallon being a fake piece of shit (in real life). It wasn't "cute" or "funny" that he would break character on every single sketch. I know at least 2-3 fellow cast members would get pissed as shit at him for being so unprofessional. I don't understand any of his appeal; he is NOT funny at all, he is one of the biggest phonies in Hollywood these days, his fake laughing is obnoxious as fuck, and overall is just a total douche bag. He is the least deserving person EVER to get a late night show...and especially THE TONIGHT SHOW. All of the talk show hosts except for Conan are complete garbage. You have a Stephen Colbert that is almost unrecognizable from the hilarious dude I loved watching when I was in college, Seth Myers totally baffles me how he got his show considering he is almost as unfunny as Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel has never ever been funny and his one claim to fame (which is sad) is that he was with Sarah Silverman, and then yeah you have the king of the moron's Jimmy Fallon holding down what used to be considered the premiere show on television. Oh how things change. Johnny Carson would be rolling over in his grave right now...he was leaving the show just as I started watching it when I was young and one line from him is funnier than a year's worth of Jimmy Fallon's shit.
EVERYTHING about this was perfect, the exact cinematography, the perfect voice tones adapted to joker, the sesame street theme, everything was a perfect parody.
The odd thing about that is Sesame Street is funded by HBO, which is Warner. And so is DC. And they're all on HBO Max. So in theory, if they were feeling particularly insane, they could make this real.

Edit: I meant Sesame Street, and The Motherfucker if you don’t like my joke then you can shut up.
The Motherfucker I think Justin was making a joke that sesame ran out of ideas, not SNL
@@JustinBelmonte1978 Sesame Street is 51 Years Old
@@JustinBelmonte1978 No, it's not.
@@sacramentokingswillrise7525 Now, it is.
The Sesame Street theme played in a minor key sold this for me
my man.
Except it isn’t in a minor key it’s just in the original key slightly out of tune
One of my all-time favs. I never tire of it and eagerly share it.
I'd actually be interested in seeing this if were a real movie.
Or create a batman like origin story with sesame street characters.
I'd watch it.
Joseph Biggs I’m sure you would.
I know. I'm wondering who's writing for SNL now. This is actually creative.
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME
Words cannot express how badly I want this to be a real movie
I keep hoping
Maybe as a fanfiction?
Still wanting and waiting
I actually teared up a little at Burt weeping over a dying Ernie.
It's incredible. This is one of my favorite things they've ever done
Best parody of two Sesame Street characters in this awesome SNL sketch.
Bert
Me too
@@musicjunkiefl Ernieeeeeeee!
My film and literature teacher showed us this during one class. It was awesome.
"Elmo Innocent. Elmo didn't sell no crack" 😂😂😂
Dawson Cannon “you only arrest Elmo cause Elmo Mexican” 🤣
I read this in Elmo’s voice in my head and it was the best possible thing. Thank you.
"you only arrest Elmo cause he's Mexican"
Highly doubt it
Find the Door it is funny my dude
Joaquin Phoenix: I've got this Oscar in the bag
David Harbour: Hold my trashcan
David: Bitch please I AM OSCAR!!!
Is it just me or does this actually look good?
It does look good
Somebody should make this.
@@Fiction_Writing Totally
It does, forget snl someone make this a mini series
Not just you..
I just discovered this a few days ago and keep coming back to it. It’s living rent free in my head.
Fun fact: David Harbour lived in a trash can for 6 months to prepare for this role. I think that dedication to the character he was portraying really shows in this sketch.
@Stephen r/woosh
It's a JOKE!
Method acting at its finest.
@Stephen Contradict yourself much?
@Stephen Pick a side man. Is it a joke or not.
"Brought to you by the letter 'R'" was brilliant.
Wait for the director’s cut. It’s brought to you by “N” “C” and the number 17.
I would actually like to see this movie
Dank Man agreed my friend.
#metoo
💯
here Same
Yes
Needed Rita Moreno as the powerhungry CEO of the Electric Company, and Morgan Freeman as talk show host Easy Reader.
This is the first SNL skit in forever to get me to laugh this hard.
u didn't laff @ the r. kelly sketch??? that was crazy funny!!!
Isn't it sad that nothing legitimately funny or memorable that snl has done in years has actually been live?
I was straight faced
I concur. I laughed in a raucous way like I never laughed before. PLEASE GIVE THIS SKIT AN EMMY!
I can’t be the only one that actually wants to see this now.
Nope. You're not the only one.
Take my money!!!
I could be wrong, but the Count may have a drug problem. Elmo the Mexican better quit selling him that stuff.
No you're not. We're all fuckin' sick bro. 😆
Absolutely!
why’s this actually look like a movie i’d watch
Because it is!
You are not the only one!
Jenna Q because it’s clever, gritty, and funny
Because of the high effort they put into making the trailer look real?
I said the same thing lol
Because people are stupid and easily sold. It did look rad though
Still a better Joker sequel than the actual Joker sequel.
whoever wrote this deserves a raise
I need to stop watching these with my eyes half open in the middle of the night. I truly missed the letter O in count. Brief wtf moment.
Dave Chappelle's joke first, given a slight twist.
@@ImperialCarWash Good observation. I remember it too.
Grown-up: Oscar you are so mean. Isn't he kids?
Kids: Yeah. Oscar, you're a grouch!
Oscar: Bitch, I live in a fucking trash can!
One of the only funny pieces SNL has done in a long time.
it was Mikey day !
"ABC...DEFG NEWS"
That was well done.
That was the only somewhat clever part.
Flip Jupiter
Don’t be so grouchy
This movie deserves an Oscar. Get it?
Naw man, it's 'trash'.
😑
Ba dum tsssss
@@Devin-wv7pu I do weddings and bar mitzvahs.
I don’t get it, can someone explain?
That Bert impersonation was incredible. EERRNNIE!
SNL needs to do more parodies like this.
Yeah this reminds me of the good days of SNL.
they use to all the time, not sure why they stopped doing them.
@brell 2-1-5 💯😂
If movies are more dark then they definitely will lol
This actually looks captivating. The music is especially powerful. I'd pay to see this at the cinema
or listen to
