Bummer on the EVO steering. Both buggies look like they are a lot of fun. After I am done with my clod buster( gotta upgrade the steering a little, way to sloppy) I'll start saving for a buggy kit. I only have room for one, so I gotta make a good choice lol
Thanks! I hope you have fun with the clod buster! The steering got better on the EVO I added way more spacers to the rear shocks to make the springs compressed more.
@@ShenRC The clod is a lot of fun, just needs some tweaks. Not much can stop it. Seems like the hornet EVO could use a hop up spring set. wonder if some springs from another model would fit?
Nice comparison Steve. For us old guys, it's probably merories to buy the old one. But both're great cars. The new features're nice. But for me the biggest con's the price.
The evo doesn’t have that “hopper sound” both are awesome. Was gonna get an evo or the new redcat for Christmas but unfortunately my truck blew up so gotta get a new vehicle instead.. gotta love it
Even with you mods on the stock hornet still has that rear bounce, the new does soak the bumps up well. I think both have their charm in the way they drive, but the new one is not the hopper anymore.
Hi I got mine to steer better by adding a lot more shock spring spacers in the rear shocks. would be nice if tamiya made a rear sway bar that would really help with the steering. Thanks for watching.
@ it must have missed the cutting table. I had a World Engines Rockbuster (sister car to the Academy Roadrunner). Both were knockoffs of a grasshopper. If Kyosho doesn’t come out with anything interesting I may get a Hornet Evo to thrash around
I've just bought the evo i don't think you would be disappointed with either both are fun but when I bought my evo a kyosho optima mid came with it and now I'm suffering from open wallet surgery 🤦♂️😂
The EVO will never steer well with the front shocks stacked up like that. Rear is too soft, and the front is too stiff. Which is like, the opposite of the original.
Hi I got mine to steer better by adding a lot more shock spring spacers in the rear shocks, the rear motor way out the back is why it's light up front. it's ok I think if tamiya made a rear sway bar it would help with more steering. Thanks for looking

I hope they make Grasshopper evo next 🤞🏿
I would think it's already being made as we speak, there would be no reason not to make one? Thanks for looking.
Nice comparison test Steve! While it’s great to see the Hornet updated, the original will always hold a special place in my heart!👍😊
Yep same here! Thanks HD!
They call that chassis the "Hopper" for a good reason lol! The Evo is a major updated version, awesome comparison!
Very true! Thanks
I like both of them for what they are. The classic can't be replaced, just improved upon!
Well said Addam. Thanks
Nice video!
It is kind of strange to see a Hornet going fast without hopping around, bump steer and landing on its roof on almost every sharp turn...
😁 yes and it feels funny driving it knowing it's a hornet! Thanks for watching.
Great comparison video Steve 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it😁👍
The new one definitely handles a lot better. That's cool they updated it
Yes and probably grasshopper EVO will be next!
Great work, looks awesome! 👍
Thanks glad you like it!
Great comparison Steve ...both fun in there own way ,😊
Good comparison I think it was good to update this model that suspension is so much nicer
Yeah it is a great update and the suspension is much better👍

Yes anything to make you feel younger again! LOL!! Thanks for looking.

Bummer it's always something maybe later on you can get one. Thanks for watching.
Both are great kits in my book and belong in any collection.
100% true! Thanks
I think they both have their places. Wish you still had your Super Hornet to throw in the comparison mix ; )
You and me both! Miss my super hornet! Thanks

Well said, Good to own both! 😁👍
I like it. It's a shame about the steering but it definitely flips over less.

From what I've seen on the Hornet Evo, it needs weight in the front end, and maybe a bit of increased camber on the front wheels.
Yeah the Evo definitely needs more weight up front! Thanks
They both perform well, I see no difference.
They are different but both fun! Thanks
Maybe Tamiya would make Grasshopper EVO?
most likely will 100% probably have it done up already I bet!
Was your front windshield and louvers cut out? I saw a post of someone who got one that wasn’t cut
Hi yes it was all cut out.... never seen one never cut out that's strange? Thanks for looking.

nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
I like them both.
Me too! Thanks
Just got mine.
Cool!

Ha ha ha yeah empty wallet syndrome! They are both great cars. Thanks for looking.

I swear the front track is wider on the new one.
It is I said it in the video it's like one front tire width wider than the hornets front.
