I think so too! Having built a Hornet already it’s like getting to build another but different. So it will be very interesting to see how all the changes to the design affect the build process and the running of the car. It’s pretty cool!
Hey Freddy, we’ll get out the fanfare! Bearing! In a Tamiya! Yey!!! Has Tamiya finally got the message that we want bearings included as standard ? Or is it just that we’ve been sniffing the tyres too much 😂🫣🧐🫣😂 so it’s a cross between a Hornet and a DT-02? 🤔🤨, is it worth the inflated price over the standard Hornet, or could a standard Hornet be modified for cheaper ? 😉enjoy the build my friend, best wishes and a Merry Christmas 🎄🎅🥳
I was quite surprised when they announced that this kit would come with bearings. Definitely happy it does though but I think this is just because it's the 40th anniversary special kit...don't think Tamiya will keep doing it. But yes..lol...we've been sniffing tires too much ;) That's a very good question re: modification question. I guess I'll be able to figure that out as I build this but I would say at first glance, if they are going to make spare parts for this which I'm sure they are, then technically you could take a standard hornet and convert it yourself as the main bathtub chassis remains the same. But until I've built it I wouldn't be too confident in answering that just yet. All looks like it COULD be done but maybe they've made changes to the tub that I can't see yet that will affect the build. The steering in particular is very different and the way they front arms are on the front is quite different to the original Hornet...so in talking this through a bit maybe it's not that easy a conversion. I'd say it's all Hornet but with a DT-02 Gearbox so again, it's possible it could be converted but I won't know until I get into the build. Very long winded answer to more or less say I don't know lol
A very Merry Christmas 🙏🎅🎄🎁🎉to you my friend! This Hornet Evo looks soo sweet! Wow! Comes with real ball bearings ! This thing should be a stunner to drive and lay your eyes on! Good luck with it👍🏻😃
Robby! Great to hear from you...Merry Christmas!!! I hope you and the family are doing well. As to the EVO...exactly! Full ball bearings...amazing! I'll be interested to see how it performs...going to have to do a comparison test at some point :)
I have one of these I'm half way through the build and yes I agree with the tyre sniff it's a must lol i love the nostalgia of these buggys i have a few now including boomerang, avante, kyosho turbo scorpion, optima mid and of course this one happy rc ing ! And another sub to you sir 👍
Very cool! I’m looking forward to getting into this one and it’s crazy how the tire sniff just takes you right back to being a kid again. Great collection you’ve got there. One day I’d like to pick up the Avante and I’m hoping Kyosho release the Big Brute again. My brother had that kit back in the day so I’d love to see it rereleased. My first kit was the Blackfoot…loved that truck. Thank you for subscribing!!
I wonder why they did that?...the body definitely looks a little different to what I remember with the rere but I'm not sure. Even with the "film" the clear plastic looks almost see through. Not sure why they would bother creating an entirely different mould. But yes, most of the kit is totally different which is very cool.
I'll be interested to learn if you think it could compete with the handling and durability of modern cars on my backyard track, cuz I don't need another Hornet shelf queen!
I'll definitely run some tests with both kits. Might try to find a track locally in the spring where I can run them doing the exact same thing and see how they compare.
Tyre sniffing weird???? I thought it was totally normal 😆😆😆 I do love the hornet but I think this one will be given a miss for the time being. I have other plans for the next 6months but may get one eventually. Would be good to have it to drive alongside the original
lol! It's crazy how much that smell takes you back to opening and building your first kit! Well you did say in your last video that you guys aren't really into the buggy scene so that totally makes sense. I'll be curios to compare the two when this one is finished. I know Andy just did a video comparing the two as he had them sitting side by side. Who knows...maybe what makes the Hornet an icon will be missing with this one. Guess we'll see!
Yeah…I’d really like to see the Falcon make a return. My best friends brother back in the day had the Falcon and I can remember it well. Would love to be able to have it now…a lot of memories with that car.
Great buggy. I like the introduction with the "parents". Also cool you'll get ball bearings with the kit.
I think so too! I was in Denmark when this kit popped up on my phone! I was shocked! I think it's a great way to celebrate 40 years!
This kit is so cool ! Can’t wait to dig into mine .

Body is a different part number. It’s slightly different mould. I believe it’s just chassis, side rails, wheels and tyres that remain the same

@FastFreddyRC For reference, my Manta Ray is the only "vintage" build that I will run regularly, so just wondering if it's in that ballpark. Thanks!
@@TimothyDoherty-p7c Ah..gotcha...ok good to know. I know the Manta Ray is well liked and seems to be a solid performer. I'll keep that in mind.

Hopefully we’ll get a Falcon re-re soon. We’ve had all the other “entry” kits released (Hornet, Fox, Frog, and Grasshopper).
