The ZeroWater Filter Pitcher: A Dentist Unboxing and First Impressions

  • In this video, I unbox and review the ZeroWater Filter Pitcher. There are a lot of big-name water filters on the market, so what sets this $30 filter pitcher apart?
    For one, the ZeroWater pitcher filters out up to 99% of total dissolved solids from water. This includes the fluoride that’s added to almost 3/4 of the public water supplies throughout the US or that naturally occurs in groundwater, like that in wells.
    Ingesting too much fluoride can have negative effects on the health of you and your family. Recently, public organizations have begun to find that people are actually taking in a lot more fluoride than was originally assumed. Read the pros and cons of fluoride here: askthedentist.com/fluoride-fa...

    The video was great. You are well informed, however I'd like to mention a few things. Firstly flouride also causes neurological issues, this is well documented. Secondly clean the pitcher thoroughly with soapy water, rinse well, and then dry it. Third MAKE SURE the tap water goes directly through the filter, do NOT let it run off the pitcher as it can contaminate the water. I live in Canada, but I am so glad to see people from all over the world have are becoming aware of just how bad these chemicals are for us. Our "teachers" lied to us when we were young about a lot of things, even if they didn't know the truth of those matters. I wish you all good health! 😀

    Thank you Dr Burhenne for this product review! I bought it today before watching your video and now I cannot wait to get the product. The reason I bought it is because for some time I discovered a pink residue in the kitchen spout. Additionally, a friend in a rural area in Texas, who has cancer, started using it for piece of mind to stay as "healthy" as possible. Thank you!🍩

    The lesson of the day here, boys and girls, is, when all else fails, read the directions. Wash contaminants out of new unit and off of the exterior of the filter, after it is installed on to the top correctly.

Stopped the mouthwash and toothpaste and started using flouride free. Stomach pain reduced by 90% and most body aches gone. Will try the zero pitcher to get out the garbage from my tap water.

    I've had mine for over 3 months, I test it often and I know how to recharge it by taking the top off and wearing protective gloves and a plastic spoon, I separate each ingredient and put in the sunlight for 3 or 4 hours. Then I reverse the process and put it back. It lasts about 3 weeks, then repeat.

    I saw another video where they had 5 glasses; zerowater then 4 unidentified until after using the meter and all with increasing readings. The one next to zero water, also zero had nail polish remover in it, the next, also zero was liquid lead, next was a spring water bottle, then one with trace minerals. So Id be curious if you added lead or nail polish remover and it still read 0? Just to test out andcompare that TDS may not be the sole measure of purity.

    • @dtester
      @dtester 2 года назад

      I saw that video too. The liquid with dissolved lead (50 parts-per-billion) was NOT zero. It read 4 parts-per-million on the reader and while 4 sounds low, that's all lead!

      low TDS does not indicate safe water, no more than high TDS indicates bad water. TDS shouldn't be used as a factor in determining the health of the water: ruclips.net/video/HeRGnHuYol8/видео.html

      All filters which come packaged with the pitchers have been pre-soaked. All consequential filters, which show no signs of wetness, must be soaked for a couple hours, before use, allowing the filtering material to expand-in-place instead of being washed out of a the dry filter, which will cause your water to be cloudy with a high TDS reading of more than 200 ppm. Take the top off the pitcher, fill the pitcher 3/4 full, and set the top back on, submersing the entire filter. After soaking and actually filtering your first pitcher, dump any filtered water which exceeds the reading of your tap water, which may be only a couple of pitchers, but the readings should incrementally descend to 000.

    I have read that pure or distilled water is devoid of minerals and can leach minerals from your body. What is your opinion on this, Dr. B?

    • @askthedentist
      @askthedentist  4 года назад +2

      Hi there, so sorry for the delay. Yes, this is a common concern, but I believe that having clean water (even without minerals) is MORE important than drinking water that is toxic and harmful to your overall health. Instead, I recommend eating fresh foods like spinach, etc, that have a great mineral content, and adding mineral drops to your water. HERE is the one I use - askthedentist.com/product/trace-minerals/

    I got one over a month ago with some filters.
    I have found filters dont last long, i double filter my water. I use a britta maxtra first then i stick that water into the zero water filter. The only draw back i can see is its plastic, you could use any stainless steel ckntainer and use the filters with that as its the filters that matter not tbe container.
    Our city water, is not to bad in the uk, i am on the south coast but dont want to drink the rubbish they put in water thesedays, like chlorine and flouride and lead and other metals.

    I don't drink the tap water I been drinking bottled water since the beginning of time... but just out of curiosity I tested my tap water to see how bad it really is (cause I seen the little paper with the map of the water in the US, and Arizona is the worse state in the country lol.). So when I tested the water, it came out to like 770 ppm I'm like that can't be right so I tested it again 770 ppm... tested a bottled water I drink 024 ppm (I know they add minerals to make it ph balanced), and I was shocked.

    It might help if you read the instructions first - people watching this may inadvertently repeat your mistake of screwing in the filter from the top (especially if they're doing it while watching the video). It clearly says to screw the filter from the bottom. Not very impressed. I thought dentists are supposed to be smart and attentive, not poke around with stuff without first reading instructions. Also, you've called the tester that came with the filter a "particle tester". It's actually called "TDS meter/tester" which stands for Total Dissolved Fluids, and the 'ppm' unit stands for "parts per million" (same as mg/L). "TDS meters can only measure the levels of electrical conductivity in drinking water caused by dissolved solids" - so uncharged contaminants are not detected. Example of those are: Lead, *flouride*, Arsenic, Chlorine and others. You said that water pH level should also be tested, and though I agree, I struggled to find a reliable method of doing it at home; cheap devices online are known to be quite imprecise. I was disappointed you skimmed on the topic and didn't say how you test your pH levels. I find your video to be a tad narcissistic (i.e. you need a massive ego check man).
    *continues watching*

      If you eat normal daily unprocessed food you get all the minerals you need.
      I'm talking vegetables, fruit, meat, etc.
      Tap water just contains a fraction of the minerals solid foods provide you with.
