    All the screws on wires and IGBT have torque specs. Use them. Will cause high base temp lockouts in the future. And you must clean the bus lami ate structure with alcohol pads, until its clean.

      If there is not a consistent spread/layer of heat compound it can cause high baseplate temp faults as well.

    In most variable frequency setups it goes Ac voltage, rectifier(diodes), capacitor, igbt switches. And the controller handles the hz. It's definitely interesting to see the many applications of variable frequency.

      @@HVACTIME what troubleshooting did you take to find this? Gates lead you to the VSD but what actual check? Output voltage, something physical or just the growling sound? I am guessing the capacitors were good, the snubber is good and the only thing left was the board?

    What are causes for the IGBT to fail? We have had one supposedly fail but cannot get a definite answer as to the cause of its failure. The unit is 6 years old and a YVAA power pole assembly is not cheap to replace without an answer. Thanks for the great knowledge you provide!

    Great video. I’ve got an issue on one of these where the overload setting on circuit two keeps changing to 175A from 225A and trips the chiller out on overload. OL potentiometers are glued and have not been changed. I’m guessing a new a main board?

    Typically resistors are bled within 5 mins. Always worth a meter check but no need to wait 10-15 mins

    • @HVACTIME
      @HVACTIME  2 года назад +4

      Ive had them take 15 minutes to fully discharge. If im not mistaken the factory spec's call for 20 minute discharge cycle. Id rather my techs play safe on it.

    • @FrenchBeefCDN
      @FrenchBeefCDN 2 года назад +2

      FWIW If one of the bleed resistors has failed, there is no safe time to wait. ALWAYS check DC and AC in multiple points on any piece of equipment before sticking hands in. Anyone with a license has been told this countless times.

      That is another circuit IGBT. There are a total of 3 IGBT (1 per compressor) on this drive kit. They share the same capacitor bank and SCR's.

    Kinda curious about the reason you change it ?

    • @HVACTIME
      @HVACTIME  2 года назад +3

      It was creating harmonics in the compressor which makes a loud growl sound. When the gates get weak they can start doing that.

    How troubleshoot high flash tank level in York chiller

    • @ahoernke21
      @ahoernke21 10 месяцев назад

      First thing you need to do is check the sight glass on the flash tank and check the liquid level. It should be around the middle of the site glass. Ifyou can’t see the level it os either below or above the sight glass. If you point a laser into the sight glass you will see the laser streak goong through the liquid, if it is low you will only see a dot. If you confirm the level is high you will need to manually crack open the flash tank drain valve on the controller allow the liquid to drain to midpoint of the sight glass and recalibrate the level sensor.
