I am searching abou the alternative pathway in ABOG website and they say that one of the elegibility criteria is that: "The length of training must be at least four years" but here in Brazil our residency program lasts for 3 years. If I submit to a fellowship program in the US, the years of practice there can count for me to have this 4 years of training or they demand it to be exclusivelly from my residency program here in Brazil?

Simultaneously you can also apply directly to alternate entry path program. Comparing both, my guess is you are more likely to be successful with option 1 than 2, but never hurts to try. Dr. Komal, neurosurgery is a competitive field. Having said that I have seen IMGs in Neurosurgery. Typically as an IMG, you will have to do general surgery in the USA and then Neurosurgery. It is rare for an IMG to match directly into neurosurgery

What would you recommend to someone in my position who wants to work in the USA as a radiologist? Is it more logical to become a specialist in my country or try to match a residency program before I finish my residency in my country? When I was a medical student, I did my infectious diseases internship in the USA at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and I have 1st name 1 SCI article.
