I'm an old lady so I used to eat that kind of salad as a kid. Also a LOT of clever jello salads and such. It is one of the wonderful things about getting older that you have enough history to remember so much!
I made my first junk journal for my friends birthday this week. I gave her a 62 year old card in perfect shape for her birthday. This birthday card was originally given to my mom. It is nice to dream of my dad seeing this card being repurposed after all these years and smiling about it.
when working with frail vintage magazines, covering the image with clear packing tape before cutting helps a lot. It will make your image glossy so perhaps applying it to the back of the image is better.
I had to laugh while you were first looking through the magazine because I was born in 1957 and grew up right in the midst of all you found funny!🤣😉😁 what I love about the era's ads is they were already a touch zany and used b/w and color to great advantage. For all the great ads printed, there were hundreds on the editing room floor. Having said all that, what you came up with was absolutely delightful! I love real on their own merit but I think my favorite is the lady in the woods. I was afraid the toast and critter were too close in color, but once placed, it all looked awesome. Collage is very wearing, isn't it? You can spend a very long time on just one small area before you'll be satisfied. But I love it!😁
It's so great to see you build your pieces. I love that you talk about why something works for you, or why it doesn't. I really enjoy your quirky sense of humour and how you show that in your art. Thanks for sharing!
I don't know if you've thought about it, but I'm right in front of that bowling ball, looking out through the land, as a big and towering mega-icon gets me rolling back to wherever in time I belong.
Yes! I try to share my whole thought process and even try things that might not work, constantly change my mind, and everything in between. That's my favorite part of sharing my art :)
I know this is from 3 yrs ago, but I just had to tell you how much I love your work and your spirit! I am a new to collage and I am very drawn to your style and sense of humor. Thank you.....
The best part of watching this video was watching your joy in creating with an actual magazine that I remember seeing in my home and in my doctors office ten years after the publication date. The date is the day before my birth.🤣😂🤣. Obviously we kept magazines for far too long. We had stacks of them in our basement for years. 🤗🇨🇦🤗
Just seeing this video. I love the ads in vintage 1950's and 1960's magazines. SOOOOO many cigarette, detergent and food that seem ridiculous today - all the better for collaging! The woman bowling on the highway is fab.
I just found you in searching for how to start collage art as a beginner and I’m so glad I did. You are so cute and fun! Looking forward to viewing all your videos. :)
You make such great collages. It is hilarious because when you are choosing images, I am joining in, ‘yes’, ‘nah’ … like I would know … and whatever you choose is just the right one, and how you put them together is so clever. I did want a bowling ball covering that car!!! Such fun to watch you make these. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I recently discover your ig account and i'm in love with your collages😍 I watched all of your videos so please make more collage video. I'm really enjoy watching your videos❣
I loved this video! It’s “real time”, shows your passion for the process. It has helped me to learn more about collage! I look forward to watching more videos!
Fun journey and I loved seeing and choosing what you found and perspective of each piece of art. I really enjoyed what I saw and thoughts I had as well, good exercise! Thank you for sharing ❤
This was a joy to watch and you made me go wow.Never apologise for a video too long it was so interesting time flew. I forgot to mention I love your whimsy so I subscribed.
I recently found your channel and what a fun video! I've done a bit of collaging but can't seem to get the knack of surrealism. Listening to your thought process helped me alot!
I kept wanting to trim a 1/4" off the bottom of the road and make a patch to cover up that car. That aside, I loved this entire video and will surely subscribe. You are so talented and your humour is great to see.
Awww thank you SO much! Oh man you are going to become obsessed with collage. It is the most fun hobby :) I'd love to see some of the pieces you create!
I never find myself bothered by backgrounds, but that's all I got... I still like the utility of backgrounds. I've been thinking about it for days. I didn't really make any decision on my choice in that parallel artistic element.
It's great that you have a new cutting board and I LOVE this collage! The cutting board has thick white lines on it and when you place the work on it is distracting. Maybe just a sheet of white paper underneath the collage would work.
These storyboard designs are ultra-modern, and this publishing was put together over 50 years ago. I wonder if I'm the only one who noticed that refrigerators fit just as well into the calendar now as they did then.
Wow what a cool magazine! So many cool things 😍 I love all your collages! Your such a inspiration 🤗 I was wondering what kind of scissors do you use? Thanks 😊
Oh thank you so much!! I use tiny sewing scissors! They are great for details, but they also make special detail scissors, I just happened to already have these from sewing and they work great.
I'm late to your channel, but loving it anyway :) I was wondering if you could put a bowling ball over the car, as if she'd thrown one and had the next one ready in her hands.
You could still use the magazine front and cover the watermarks with another cut out, and I like the word, Smileage. That would be a great word to use somewhere!
Those ads are hilarious. You can even swab the deck when you wear your Kotex sanitary napkins! Who knew. It looks like the lady in the red dress could be copied and used many, many times.
I’ve been following you On IG for a while. Our collage thoughts are so similar it’s crazy. You would probably enjoy glue books as well. It’s a lot like collage (and is in its own right). You should check out some of them. Debbie Corke is very good. I have so many but quit videoing a few years ago. I’ve been asked by several to start back again so I just might. Love your work though. Thanks for the inspiration 🤪
Oh very cool! I will have to check out glue books and Debbie! I love sharing my process through videos, but it is a lot of work so I totally get taking a break. I would watch if you decide to share again :)
I wanted the tiny woman in red to be holding up the red car with the family on vacation…because mom’s do 90% of the work to get a family on a vacation. 😂
They really need to reproduce more of these vintage ads, I know some books are out there, or the only way we will be able to make art with this source material is digitally.
That tunnel must have been where we picked up the science that I so desperately desire to flower my degree in English. But hey, I'm just an American. English is so.... England.
I love seeing someone get as excited as I do about old magazines 😂
Hahah it was SO exciting!!

Great idea! I never thought of that, thank you!

Your videos are so much fun to watch.
These collages are terrific. I just love how your brain works.
I love your thought processes. You make me look at things in a different way.
Just found your channel, just inherited a stack of 1950s magazines... a match made in heaven. Thank you for sharing these great ideas!
The bowling lady was epic! I just love your perspectives. Thank you for keeping me so inspired.
It's so great to see you build your pieces. I love that you talk about why something works for you, or why it doesn't. I really enjoy your quirky sense of humour and how you show that in your art. Thanks for sharing!
Oh wow thank you so much for all the kind words! That really does mean a lot to me. I love sharing my process and I'm so glad you like seeing it!
I don't know if you've thought about it, but I'm right in front of that bowling ball, looking out through the land, as a big and towering mega-icon gets me rolling back to wherever in time I belong.
Tradition is so deeply tied to attraction.... every click of the wind against the chaps counts for something.
I love how you explain the "why" of what works and what doesn't work in a collage.
Yes! I try to share my whole thought process and even try things that might not work, constantly change my mind, and everything in between. That's my favorite part of sharing my art :)
I just love the way you work. Vintage magazines are the best.
Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed! They are so incredibly fun to look through. So many fun images.
This magazine is sooooo cool. I am going to be on the hunt for vintage magazines. I loved the bowling one.
We love to pick up vintage magazines at the thrift stores and auctions - the BEST images ever!
Thank you so much for keeping tabs on advertising as it relates to your mission statement with art.
I know this is from 3 yrs ago, but I just had to tell you how much I love your work and your spirit! I am a new to collage and I am very drawn to your style and sense of humor. Thank you.....

The giggle-o-meter rating works well. Love these! New subscriber. I started binge-watching all your videos but had to stop and collage a bit!.
Just seeing this video. I love the ads in vintage 1950's and 1960's magazines. SOOOOO many cigarette, detergent and food that seem ridiculous today - all the better for collaging! The woman bowling on the highway is fab.
Rosie, I had FUN... Felt like I was right there with you making these choices. I love putting them together. Nice!!
I just found you in searching for how to start collage art as a beginner and I’m so glad I did. You are so cute and fun! Looking forward to viewing all your videos. :)

Yay! Aww thank you SO much! That makes me so happy to hear :)
@@eastofhoney sssssssssssssssasssssssasss.sss
Even keeping the car with the same background and just adding other things would be super dope as well
I just love watching your videos, so nice not to feel like I'm collaging alone :) Thank you for sharing your creativity and enthusiasm!
Aww thank you so much!! I love sharing my process and talking about all the cool things you could create. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying watching :)
I definitely have to be on the lookout for old postcards....what a fun way to incorporate into collage.
Yes! They are great backgrounds for all those really tiny images that are so hard to use in larger collages.
The ASMR page turning sounds are so nice ❤

Very cool collages from the magazine... Loved them 💖💖😁

Post cards are great!
I kept wanting to trim a 1/4" off the bottom of the road and make a patch to cover up that car. That aside, I loved this entire video and will surely subscribe. You are so talented and your humour is great to see.

An interesting continuation of the bowling belle would be a tractor cropping landscapes, without regard to background. A bridge.
These are very nice 🤩
