Hey scadam I was doing my research on getting a downpipe and im learning that its highly likely a downpipe, even one with a cat, is probably going to throw a check engine light related to the cat eventually. have you had one yet? how many miles have you done so far? I see you didnt get one 2 months ago, what makes this downpipe special in that it doesnt throw a CEL? this DP is currently 2500 atm which is just insane. maybe i can find one with the same cat but made by another company thats closer to 400-800
I spent the extra money for the piece of mind that there would be no cel and it has been a little over 2 years and still no cel and I’ve put about 20k miles on it. Worth the money in my opinion.
@@DuckMasterAdam thx for the reply! I also splurged for piece of mind. I opted to buy the Active Autowerke one for $1350 thats guaranteed no CEL. exhaust prices are up like 50% right now so this is the absolute worst time to upgrade but oh well
Hey, my car is real similar to yours, 2020 M240i I even have the same dinan midpipe, MPE, CAI (I forget which brand tho), and dinmann rear diffuser. I also used your videos to determine if I wanted to upgrade to the dinan midpipe or not. I was hoping you could give me more detail on what the difference is after the downpipe. can you describe how rev sound changed? did the sound for the pops and bangs change? do pops and bangs happen more often? (I noticed they happened way way more often after the midpipe) does comfort + D still have no pops and bangs? (I currently dont get them with this which is nice) how much louder is it? does it have a Cat? why did you choose this downpipe?
The choose this dp because this particular brand have a very good record of high quality parts with very good workmanship. The high flow catted dp allows the car to breathe better (less restriction). Yes there are cheaper high flow cats but this brand I trust and I have never had a cel with this dp. The car sound more aggressive in my opinion with this setup. In comfort the car sounds normal while in sport the exhaust is hella aggressive.
@@DuckMasterAdam what would you say the overall volume is like after you got the downpipe? twice as loud? only a little louder? in your videos it sounds louder but that might be because of other factors like how you recorded each video. location of mic, type of mic, etc I am kind of worried about being TOO loud to be honest, thats why im asking
hey, does the MPE have a valve (no pops and bangs in Comfort, pops and bangs only in Sport/Sport+)? i have a 440i with a dinan mid pipe and really want an MPE.
yes the MPE has valves. I have the same set up as this guy minus the downpipe and it has no pops and bangs if you put it in comfort and put the transmission into D. If however you put the transmission into S / sport you will get only a little especially in the first 8 min of a drive after a cold start. I have a different car of course so that might not be your experience
How’s it holding up ? Any issues ?
