Finally new videos on the 240! mine comes in a month and the stock ride was definitely too quiet for my taste, this looks amazing and sounds incredible
Did it change the pitch of the sound? Any drone? I just did the MPE, and it is a pretty big upgrade in sound vs stock, I feel. Im considering doing the Dinan midpipe now. We both live in greater Vancouver, so the other concern could be a ticket from the cops for having a loud muffler, being they are giving tickets these days for noise violations when driving into Vancouver I was told by Auto West. I may just do it anyway. Im really curious as to how much different it will sound without those two resonators.
Nice to see another M240i..i've been driving one for the last 11 months and just enjoying it...Thanks for this video..Great job on the dinan midpipe...
Shundel, thanks so much for this video! I have an Alpine White M240i XDrive coupe and I'm getting the same mid-pipe installed next week. Wow, it sounds menacing - thanks a lot for giving me a taste of what I'll soon hear myself :)
im happy you like it , personaly i did it on my jetta 1.4 t 2017 , and looking for a m240i in 8 month , and i will never do a muffler delete or what so ever . stock sound perfect for me :)
😂 lol subbed...I’m about to pick up a m235 in a couple months I appreciate your efforts I still can’t believe you don’t own a breaker bar! Harbor freight is the key to life as an unprofessional.
Did well considering the limited access... doubt it would have cost much for an exhaust center to install that for you tbh, save the grazed knuckles and sore shoulders
i just purchased an 2017 m240i and take delivery tues. I've watched all your mod vids and you explain things really well. Where do you get this pipe and how much does it cost?
Hmm I can't tell you for sure if it has. Your best bet is to prob ask the dealership straight up so you can make an informed decision. A quad exhaust would look sweet on the 2 btw!
@@Shundel Quick question since you guys get more snow in Canada, did you face any issue driving rwd around in rain or snow? in maryland and DC we dont get snow as much as up north but still .. was wondering...
Hey Ari. Nope, no issues in the rain yet unless I intentionally try to lose traction. Also no issues driving around in the snow with my winter tires last year. No snow yet this year but I am expecting it to be about the same. I'm sure if the snow gets bad enough, RWD could potentially be an issue even with my winter setup but I'll be sure to make a video of that too if it happens lol.
Beautiful Car, Congratulations, the M240i already has a lion snore, I do not think it needs to be louder or louder. But taste is not discussed here. Have a good time.
Ive been considering this for a while but after installing my downpipes it's already uncomfortably loud (especially for the neighbours in the morning) 😂 I've got videos on my channel if you get a minute to check them
Hey CF, I'll start experimenting on the exhaust too and see how it works out. I saw your video of installing the MP splitter. Looking good man the car is looking sweet. Keep it up!
hey Shundel, i was wondering how come you didnt purchase the M Performance Exhaust when you bought the M24i ? and why didn't you let the shop to install the Dinan Midpipe for you? just curious :)
Mainly just personal preference. The MP Exhaust is a lot more expensive and does not change the sound significantly enough IMO. I installed the mid-pipe myself because I knew it would be cheaper, relatively easy, and most of all fun to DIY. Hope that answers your question :)
George Shalhub You are absolutely correct. I went with this option because it was something I could DIY. I do not have the ability to do any welding with a simple resonator delete.
Cold starts are a lot louder. No real difference when on comfort/eco but a lot more pops and burbles in sport. The volume has slightly increased in all modes. Overall, still tame when you want it to be! That's speaking for the B58 though. Can't say for sure how it would affect the N55. Let me know!
Yea i deleted it too and got the same sound like yours it is realy better in all modes . Now the sound are good and for this 6zy engine :D. Anyways good job dude :).
Hey guys great vid, considering this mod after watching this vid , was wondering do you have any warning light issues at all on the dash or is it all good??
Dude thumps up for the courage doing it on your own without any previous experience!
Klemen Jereb Haha the first cut is always the hardest but luckily it got easier from there

Congrats bro! You're gonna love it.
the spec of your car is on point!

Thanks, Michael! I am loving mine too.
Shundel, thanks so much for this video! I have an Alpine White M240i XDrive coupe and I'm getting the same mid-pipe installed next week. Wow, it sounds menacing - thanks a lot for giving me a taste of what I'll soon hear myself :)
Thanks, Joe! Good choice. You won't regret it :)
hi shundel, what car ramps you used in this video? would you recommend them?
Thanks for making this video, i'm about to tackle this soon. How is the drone?
There is absolutely zero drone! :)
im happy you like it , personaly i did it on my jetta 1.4 t 2017 , and looking for a m240i in 8 month , and i will never do a muffler delete or what so ever . stock sound perfect for me :)
I've heard that the muffler delete on the M240i is likely to create more drone. Stock does sound pretty good already though.
lewangoalski 09 ur crazy it sounds so much better😆😆 my buddies has a muffler delete/ Res delete, and catless downpipes now that sounds good
😂 lol subbed...I’m about to pick up a m235 in a couple months I appreciate your efforts I still can’t believe you don’t own a breaker bar! Harbor freight is the key to life as an unprofessional.
I own a breaker bar but just didn't have it on me which sucked lol. I agree Harbor Freight is my go-to when I hit the US :D Welcome to the family bro!
Thanks for the video. Was your exhaust stock other than the Dinan midpipe?
No problem! Yes everything was stock prior to the midpipe install
is/was your car a lease when you did this. Recently acquired a 2020 m240 and want to do this but concerned about it being a lease.
Wouldn't it be the same as getting just a res delete?
Sounds great my friend!
Hey man. Just curious...have you had any trouble with bmw's warranty with this installed? I have the MPE, but i'm finding it's not loud enough :(
ehjhey7 should only void exhaust warranty
Did well considering the limited access... doubt it would have cost much for an exhaust center to install that for you tbh, save the grazed knuckles and sore shoulders
Haha true. I usually prefer to DIY things and it motivated me even more to know I could potentially be helping other DIY'ers.
Installing it yourself is a pleasure us real car guys enjoy. Props dude 🤙🏼
Was your midpipe clamp welded?
Hey great video! Got a question, does this install void warranty if you install it yourself?
Thanks Kenneth! I can't say for sure if it will void warranty, but I'd assume that it could give BMW a reason to deny a claim. YMMV!
I enjoyed your video :) Keep it up!
Thanks for watching, Mister!
Outstanding bro.
Any smell or burning? Mine is burning rn
Hey man the back box is standard? Because the difference between comfort and sport is amazing😱
Yup so far the whole exhaust system is stock aside from the Dinan mid-pipe!
i just purchased an 2017 m240i and take delivery tues. I've watched all your mod vids and you explain things really well. Where do you get this pipe and how much does it cost?
Congrats!!! Thanks a lot I try to be as detailed and concise as I can. I bought it from ECS and it retails for $500 USD.
Thanks Shunel. At a glance looks like a great site.
No problem. Cheers :)
Haha I wish! I have a generous gf for letting me buy all these things! :D
Did this mod affect your car warranty in any way. I just bough the 2017 230i and want to put in a quad exhaust
Hmm I can't tell you for sure if it has. Your best bet is to prob ask the dealership straight up so you can make an informed decision. A quad exhaust would look sweet on the 2 btw!
Doing this mod today. Did you ever get the torque spec for the cross member?
24nm on the six T50 bolts. 100nm on the two T60 bolts to the subframe
does this throw a check engine light?
Is the sound significantly louder in comfort mode compared to stock? I'm looking to do this mod on my M140i some time. Cheers!
It's significantly louder on the cold starts but after it's warmed up it sounds pretty close to stock!
@@Shundel Great, thanks!
@Shundel your car is a RWD or AWD ? It seems in US all Manuals are RWD ...
I believe that you can only get manual with the RWD - no option for manual + xdrive here

Any video from the cabin while at highway speeds? Comfort mode and Sport mode droning annoying or OK?
No formal video of cabin noise. I went on the highway in my Dinan tune review but it was brief. I haven't noticed drone in any modes though.
Beautiful Car, Congratulations, the M240i already has a lion snore, I do not think it needs to be louder or louder. But taste is not discussed here. Have a good time.
Thanks Antonio, you too!
What socket size did you need for the clamps on the Dinan midpipe?
I think they were 15mm
Ive been considering this for a while but after installing my downpipes it's already uncomfortably loud (especially for the neighbours in the morning) 😂 I've got videos on my channel if you get a minute to check them

i see thanks for the reply :)
How much does this cost
I didn't know the M240i was sold with those wheels...
KingPNW Up north we get the option between the 436M and 461M wheels for 2017. I chose the latter :)
Will this fit with any downpipe? And you have to cut??? I thought it was just bolt on
Can I buy your mid pipe
Isn't a resonator delete the same thing as a Dinan Midpipe?
George Shalhub You are absolutely correct. I went with this option because it was something I could DIY. I do not have the ability to do any welding with a simple resonator delete.
Yes. He wasted a ton of money. No need to weld just use clamps lol
Go on Performance ! ;)
Res delete + code valves open ,1/4 of the cost ,,, would be an option 2
Veri good...👏👏👏👏beautifull lound. . (BRASIL)
holy shit!! sounds fucking unreal. will my 435i sound as good as this??
Only one way to find out ;D
Shundel true!! Any drone with this setup? How are you finding it?
No drone at all. It's basically as quiet as stock when you have your foot on the pedal until you let it off.. burbles and pops are way more prominent.
Shundel Did you get MPE with your car or did you switch to this from stock exhaust!?
Nah it's not the MPE. It's all stock except the Dinan midpipe!
I'm just happy its a manual
How would you describe the difference in sound? I have a m235 with mpe and have been considering this mod

Is the midpipe the only exhaust mod you have, do you have the OEM muffler on there?
ohh damn I live in BC too
Nothing but rain these days right??
