    I don't have anyone start from the knees, even in our fundamentals classes. Instead we just do 3 & 3 from guard, or half guard, or put the higher belt in mount or side body etc. Seen too many people, even after being explained etiquette, just pull someone over their knees and get tweaked.

    Thank you dude. Now I can see why my arm drags are so slopy and my Knee tap doesn't work. Armdrags are like karate hikite (pulling the hand back in the hip as hard as you can) while you drive the attacking hand, in this case the sleeve/wrist hand. And knee taps looks a lot easier if you bend your elbows in. Greetings from Brazil.

      I am a huge believer in efficiency. Jiu-Jitsu is designed to not expend a lot of energy, especially against bigger opponents. • @SNAKEEATER1776
      @SNAKEEATER1776 8 месяцев назад

      @@StillRolling I wasn’t accusing you of not doing so. But As a soon to be purple belt, Ive seen enough practitioners that swear stand-up grappling adds to the risk of injury and reserve it only for competition preparation or competition. Never mind the blown out knees and elbows of some submissions who don’t see them coming. I mean, high school wrestling is safe enough for administrators and parents for the kids. Why can’t there be more emphasis on takedowns? Guard is not where we start. Additionally, ban pulling guard. Penalize that crap as stalling or being passive. it makes the sport so boring.

    • @StillRolling
      @StillRolling  8 месяцев назад

      I disagree with banning pulling guard. I'd much rather see someone pull guard and and get a quick submission than someone land a takedown and lay on them because they are ahead in points.
      Exciting matches depend on the people. Not the techniques or rules. I encourage people to learn all aspects of the art👍

    • @SNAKEEATER1776
      @SNAKEEATER1776 8 месяцев назад

      @@StillRolling I suppose the rules dictate the techniques. Gaming the system, if you will. I believe you’d attract more students if it was more fun to watch. If it was more fun to watch, it would be more popular than on flo grappling, or more popular than exhibition matches of karate combat or UFC fight pass.
