You know what I love about these particular buses with this engine and transmission set-up is if the busdriver hits the pedal just right, LOVE how the engine revs out of first in to second with that growl! :-D PURE MUSIC TO THE EARS!
HOLY, DAMN?!!! That driver is REALLY hauling ass on that MC-9! For once, I thought MC-9s with the 6V92 went faster, but it was indeed the 8V71N that went MF fast!!!! Excellent video!
No problem. You should try to get a recording of the 102A3, 102C3 with the 8V92 engine one day and see how it sounded like at full speed on the highway.
As truck driver, realize what is in front of what you are following. You were totally blocking him, DANGEROUSLY so. Some drivers would have just changed lanes anyway .. and just kept going. A deadly practice. He was probably trying to lose you at those speeds . Think. You wouldn't wanna be responsible for an accident, or damage involving them. Besides you don't know who's driving. Trucks exactly the same. Pass slowly, BUT PASS!
Before the 6V92TA Detroit Diesel and HT740 Allison Transmission were the standard in 1981 the only standard is the 8V71N with HT740 Allison Transmission or Dana Spicer 4speed manual Transmission between 1978 - 80 this bus is built between 1978 -90 by MCI/TMC
Love the automatic transmission over the 4 speed or 5 speed manual in these. Faster acceleration . This bus has all the extra options on it except the large rub guards on the side.
Those 8V71's were loud sounding, and sweet engines, particular San Francisco Muni fishbowls that also had the 8V71's, and were loud rocket ships climbing those grades.
The AMC generals Muni had were powered by the 6V71, they were only 35 feet long. A.C. Transit had the 6V71s in them except for 625 that had the 8V71, the transit coach to have that engine.
I seen that bus before it was back in 2012 where it was parked between Iowa and Pacific Avenues across from the Tropicana Casino and Hotel and the two people operating that bus I've wonder if they are still in business even if they switch buses
I've seen that bus in Atlantic City at the Tropicana casino and hotel at Iowa and pacific avenues back in 2012 that was four years ago smooth sailing tours keep that mci mc9 running as long as you can I've missed those buses I've hate those fucking hybrid mci D4500 commuter coaches they are boring shit box coaches
be careful driving an MC9 that fast 80 mph..... its not worth it leave earlier drive responsible ...especially with family aboard that thing weighs close to 40,000 lbs !
NeoplanDude I own a bus company and there’s no way in hell im running 80 in one. The DOT will rip your ass a new hole and then your insurance company will run a train on you. Them damn Asians up in the Northeast don’t give a crap. I would set foot on one of their death traps.
Thank You!
Those engines are Gold...great upload.. almost looks like the bus is fleeing the paparazzi 😂

Lol, I can hardly find any 6V92ed MCIs, I think an 8V92 would be a BIG challenge lol

There are some NYCT routes that use parkways though.

8v71 is audio nirvana. :)
It sounds like a Two Stroke Detroit Diesel engine but correct me if I'm wrong
He parks that bus up the street from my house. You was up the street from my house.
Word? Thats cool, do you know the driver?
Not personally

Why'd you get pulled over? Isn't the speed limit on that road 80mph?
Either 55 or 65 actually lol
OMG THAT BUS IS GREAT I USED THOSE GUYS 7 YEARS AGO THE BUS IS LIMO STYLE INSIDE
Wassup homie
right rear brake light out.
why the hell was that bus on a parkway?!!!!! YOU NEVER TAKE A BUS OR TRUCK ON ANYTHING THAT SAYS PARKWAY. NOW THAT WHY THE COPS GOT INVOLVED LOL
Well the cops didn't pull the bus over for going over 85, they pulled us over lol...
There are sections of parkways that you can use and other sections that yo have to get a permit.
