I don't run the filter all day because it came with the aquarium and it seems quite strong. I saw you have bubblers so I will see about getting one of those instead. It's great that you're thinking about the best setup for your shrimp! Gravel with living plants can provide a natural environment for them, but sand can also be a good option for their health and breeding. It ultimately depends on your preferences and the specific needs of your shrimp. Keep learning and experimenting to find what works best for you!

      Co2 and trace minerals and light and if you see pearling you can do mild water changes at the beginning of the photoperiod for the day meaning you have available calcium in the tank, and you dose magnesium and everything. The goldfish flakes have most of those in them.
      But plants can uptake trace copper pretty fast in a beginning of a photoperiod.
      In fact I've seen nitrate changes of 40 ppm to zero in guppy tanks and I even saw them eat saltwater when I dosed it.
      Plants are seriously amazing especially moss that always grew well for me.
      You can see pearling in a completely still tank, and so you can test if the setup is working if it immediately does it.
      It balances out in a planted tank quick.

There are comparatively lower cases of failed molting than before .1st week of mineral addition 2 died, 2nd week 1 and this 3rd week none yet. Dechlorinator has been shown to toughen eggs and make it difficult to hatch for shrimp. Season water ahead to allow chlorine to evaporate or you can get shrimp minerals to re-mineralize and use distilled or reverse osmosis water for greater success.

      @lacyfins9627 2 года назад

      @@MarksShrimpTanks Yeah Alexander at Secret history living in your aquarium says it's recent research showing that and the guy knows his stuff. For chloramines running an active carbon filter in the water will remove without dechlorinators. I'd say do so a day or two ahead of using the water. So if you know or suspect your water is chloramine treated just run an activated carbon filter while you season the water.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 года назад +1

      Recent research? Sodium Thiosulphate (a type of salt)is in most dechlorinators will toughen up any organic if you use to much of it, this is something you do not need to research. it was a common practice before refrigeration to preserve meat.
      Its like me saying swimming in hydric acid is bad for you, Hydric acid just a fancy word for water.
      Active carbon does not stop chloramines, it can pass through Reverse osmosis membranes and DI resin can take it out through Ion exchange but if your DI resin is not working to its full efficiency it wont stop chloramines.
      You also cannot remove chloramines by ageing the water, this is all stuff you can test for yourself with basic test kits.

    I have a question about the goldfish powder food. How often should we add the powder to the tank? And if we’ve added that, does that mean we don’t need to feed the shrimps?

      you have to try and jugde how hungry the tank is by their body languge , if they are very active they will eat.

I started with 18 shrimp in a 20 tall that I have had set up for several weeks! No fish! Just moss and shrimp! One anubias! Thanks for the content! What kind of floating plants would you suggest?

      Thanks for subbing Christopher!!! the plant I like the most for shrimp is salvinia because the roots stay short but can get very bushy which shrimp seem to love.

      @@i_dont_like_it8941 most aquarium shops have them in some form or another. You can also get them piggybacking on plants. I actually went to a local swamp pond and collected some to put in my tank so they would infest my one tank quicker because I feed them to my puffers the puffers love them.

    I would love to have a blue dream shrimp tank unfortunately I don't have access to the shrimp. Add a 300-gallon brackish water carnivorous tank and a homemade 100-gallon sump tank that I'm using as a live bacteria filter tank. That I am using for growing aquarium plants. Unfortunately my hundred gallon tank isn't enough to handle the waste product of the carnivorous tank. A good cleaning crew would allow me to remove the skimmer sock will providing the a filter feeder terrarium so that I can put my plants on splay rather than hiding them in the beginning of the sump filtering system.

    Chlorinated water isnt a major issue in many countries. In Germany you usually only find it in major cities with not suffiecient access to fresh water. Here I drink tab all day but the water in the UK, especially Scotland was undrinkable to me, tasted like pool water, so I understand that precaution.
