I’m a dingus and in a dark garage hooked my battery charger up backwards (reversed polarity). Got no power on key turn even with a new battery, and all fuses in the fuse box under the seat were fine. Finally found this video and it’s exactly as you described, the 30A fuse blew under the tank. Thank you very very much!
Thank you so much for your video ! I was stumped on where the hell the “main” fuse was. It was pretty easy after that, to fix “except” getting the fuse cap to open, as you said.
So I replaced the rectifier and fuse and that lasted about 1 year with continuous jump starts even with a new battery! I had to eventually replace the stator also. Now it’s perfect!
It’s pretty crazy when you’re going over 100mph on the racetrack and all of a sudden you have smoke in your face 😂 This should definitely fix it, haven’t had a problem since I replaced it and the fuse. Good luck!
Gina Limbrick thanks for the good luck it worked ! You’re absolutely right that smoke scared the hell outta me and I worked and stressed over this bike for weeks trying to figure it out and every shop was completely full to take it in
The most important thing in the case of a regulator rectifier is to make sure it is mounted somewhere where it gets air flow. In my case my shop mounted it behind my race fairing with zero air and it got way too hot and caught on fire.

I’m so happy it helped even with my bad video skills 😂
Thanks for the video! Saved me a couple hundred buck getting my bike transported and fixed. Apparently my issue was also a blown main fuse!
Bas van Egmond That’s awesome! So glad it helped!
Gina Limbrick dido! you rock
Gracias 🫂
So how did you know it was this and before when you turned the key you got no power? And after now you did?
I knew my battery was good so then I double checked my fuses and luckily that was it!
Hey ..what else did you replace? ..just the rectifier and the fuse?

You are my beauty. Thanks
Glad I could help!
Just had my rectifier catch on fire as well, tried everything and am hoping this solves it 😭 apparently there was a recall for the rectifier for 09-12
