I have not been able to get the connection definition points to act as part of any group other than the "General connections" group. When I configure that group to show the potential and wire gauge, no problem, the settings of the 3PH group don't apply anywhere.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

oh awesome I figured it out. I needed to move the custom "Grouping" based connection label scheme above teh general connections scheme in the Designation table.

the format of align is automtic or manual?

The formatting is automatic. I made a custom symbol with this setup inside of the property arrangement of the symbol, then in the connection settings it is set to align with the connection direction.

Keep in mind, to create a custom connection symbol, you must copy the "Special" or "Special_en_US" library & rename it to something that doesn't begin with "Special". Then you can edit the symbols.
