I just noticed this is related to the seven seals from the bible (revelations), did people think attila would cause the end of the world, was he the aposlcapes? also the last phase is always the first phrase
yep and I just realized there are seven cutscenes representing the seventh seals. The intro cutscene mentions the white horse(conquest), the second which is the faction intros, mentions the red horse(war). The third cutscene the black horse(famine), the fourth cutscene the pale horse (death) . The last cutscene is of course the end of the apocalypse.
There were many who believed it at the time and in some ways they were not wrong. While Atilla was eventually defeated and the Huns never managed to sack Rome, their invasions triggered the beginning of the end for the Western Roman Empire. The Huns' success showed the world that Rome could no longer protect its own empire. More barbarian nations would invade and carve up the empire into the forebears of the modern nations of Europe and Italy would never hold the same power it once did again.
Atilla was really feared and christians thought in that way about him because Huns were really brutal and their tactics and lifestyle and just everything was so different from what they known. But in long run he wasn´t so important. In that time Rome crumbled and live through many invasions of "barbarians" and would live throught many more until destroyed (western part). This problem is far more complex but for the game this simplification is "just fine". These invasions were problem but the core of the problem was internal politics and decay of the Rome from the inside, these outer problem just speeded things up.
The theme of the apocalypse fits fall of Rome perfectly, like seven seals of apocalypse. 1. 0:00 First Contact with the Huns. Huns use bows like the first Horseman 2. 2:52 Barbarian Migration, desperation from Huns raids made barbarians push further into Rome territory while Rome was far from the peak it was. Everyone is preparing for the battle of survival. 3. 4:45 Start of Climate change and famine, and Atilla, the scourge of God is born. 4. 5:56 Climate worsen and people starved, while Atilla bring death and destruction. 5. 6:58 With chaos and destruction and failure of leaders has birth false prophets and powemonger who fed on despair. 6. 8:17 Eclipses which didn’t happen for a long time appeared while nights became longer due to the little ice age. 7. 9:28 The judgement day, the tribe or empire who endured thus far is the winner, or rather the survivor. While a lot of tribes and empire died out. The end of the Dark age. In real life, it was Eastern Roman empire, who managed to survive for another thousand years. Huns, disintregrated due to infighting.Barbarians who took former western Roman empire died out in Justinian reconquests and Sassanids fall a bit later by Muslims.
It sucks that by the time you defeat Attila you are basically waiting for the game to be over cuz the climax of the story is already passed. Then you spend like 40 turns waiting for the last cutscenes or fighting weaker factions. And even fighting Attila isn't fun because they spam doomstacks with large onagers.
Killing Attila among the horde is kinda killing a cockroach. They came in numbers. You do fright by them. You kill them and they still come back. You need to kill a queen but you don't even know where it is
Who can say? it reminded me of something: - During the many Roman-Persian Wars, the Sassanians supported the Jews in the Middle East - the many wars between Jewish Himyar and Christian Aksum could well be a form of proxy warfare in East Africa. - when the Prophet Muhammad tried to preach Islam first in his hometown, he was cast out by the ruling Qur'aish - the first Muslims did not fight back, but instead they fled across the sea to Christian Ethiopia, where they were allowed to stay as refugees. Why? It makes you wonder.....
Rush to Milan/Constantinople early, raid their trade route from the capitals. You will get ~2000-3000 per round. Stay there for a few rounds and the conditions will be achieved.
This is just one of the reasons attila is probably best TW game... And im pretty sure if they would just optimize multiplayer more people would agree with me (guess its too late tho)
Sometimes it questions me, are assassin's Creed and total war collaborating Cause both are historically accurate, beautiful gameplay and knows so much ancient history civilizations, their lifestyle and wars than our history teacher boringly explaining to us about history of civilization.... Teachers should use this videos and clips from total war and ac franchise as a visual presentation for better understanding and intriguing for attention....
I saw a comment from elsewhere saying how the cutscene qualities have dropped. Well, couldn't agree more. I don't even know what he heck is going on. Man & I thought Shogun 2 was bad for obvious recycles, this is just plain. You have to love abuse to enjoy this.
The most Atmospheric game in the series. Thank you for ripping out cutscenes
well this the apocolipis
its like max fury but less auto mobiles and unreasonable savagery

For the horses relate to revelations too

Dude, he was literally called "The Scourge of God", he was indeed seen as something to punish the people.

"The blood of their kin would be avenged!" That line gives me chills.
Well, the last playable historical total war right in front of you.
They did all this, and called it just.

best game in series 👏
yep

This is no game of conquest this is a game of survival
I still prefer Shogun but yeah. Attila is severely underrated
Jokes aside, the revelation really did somewhat similar to year around 536
Still the historical total war i find myself playing the most to this day
same. Although the campaign AI is very bad. It was made as a survival game rather than a traditional sandbox.
Christians:
*make churches filled with lot of golds and leave them alone because no one disrespects the home of God
Huns and Vikings:is this for me?
Huns and Vikings look at church and say "it's free real estate" to loot and plunder.
Hey, are you disrespecting my Scandinavian ancestors?! Just kidding. I know the violence of my pagan ancestors.
I destroyed all and captured all but I miss the victory condition - income from raiding.. no cutscene for me.
Let province fall to rebellion somehow and then raid their territory? my only idea, that sucks :(

I love the King James bible, so fucking good
The blood was filled with air and smoke
does anyone know who is the speaker in the videos? His voice is so amazing
Please do all of cutscenes-
Today's people will never ever understand yesterday's people especially in 350 - 450 A.D. They should make a movie in my country out of this.

pls do one for roman
A opening for a helluva boss episode
Lol, I never seen the cutscenes after attila's birth cause by then I had won most of the game
