- Playing some crummy licks and riffs to demonstrate some of the toanz possible from the Blackstar HT-5 5 watt tube head!
Gear:
Blackstar HT-5
Orange PPC112 (V30)
Shure SM58 (no windscreen)
Ibanez RG520 (V7 neck & L500XL bridge)
Electro Harmonix Holy Grail Plus (only on at beginning)
liked the combination , HT 5 and the orange cabinet, and the distortion sounded awesome, once again, black star!!
Now I've got it since Christmas : YES ! it's AWSOME !
@xxGNR12xx A very good price. The amp alone is $330 now. That's close to 10% off retail with a free cab.
I still have the same configuration and don't want to change it for a while : ht5 + ppc112 + Gibson LesPaul and nothing else (no pedal etc) and I have the perfect sound, very close to this one in the video but far better because in real life it's not the same as with youtube.
I confirm another thing : the black ht5+black ppc112 has a very classy look !
@Inverted314 It being 5watts means you can get a more saturated tone out of it without having to crank it up really loud so I think it's ideal for bedroom. Obviously it can be loud, but not loud enough to blast at a gig unless you hook it up to a PA system. I think that feature just makes it perfect and versatile. I myself am saving up to get it by the end of this month.
love the distortion
@IwonYou121 ht-5 head is between $330 US (sometimes more depending on the store) and the orange 1x12 cab about $300 USD.
@123nickclark actually, you can. it's loud enough to play with a drummer, and if the drums are too loud because they're mic'ed, you will definitely be able to get your cab mic'ed up.
@TheRolfieboy thanks for the advice. :) I bought this amp a few weeks ago and played two shows with it since then and I have to admit: If you only play through the head, it cannot keep up with a whole band. But if the box is miced and your sound goes threough the PA, it's loud enough :)
that's really fucking nice, even with youtubes shitty quality. i reckon it needs a bit more low end though. that's when the orange cabs really shine
The distortion channel sounds HUGE!
Nice pants btw :D
Can't wait to get my Blackstar HT40....
Awesome!! really sweet tone!!
I'm waiting for my PPC112 black version, with this head, it will be awesome :-)
I'm going to be getting this too! Tell me how it goes please! :)
nice demo
Well done. That orange house conceals a Vintage 30, reckon? You got tone.
blackstar owns~!
I know someone already asked about gigging through a 2x12, but how about a 4x12, anyone tried it?
Bill Lawrence in an RG. Nice
Hi. Thanks a lot for demos. Please can you tell me the settings on each amp???(I mean tiny terror amp demo too).
and please tell me wich is better for playing metal???
Thanks.
sweet sound. what kind of a cabin you used? is that v30
@xxGNR12xx My only complaint is that they added reverb AFTER I bought mine. Oh well, I just toss a reverb pedal in the loop when I want the added sound.
I'm thinking about getting this stack for bedroom recording. I don't want to be belting it too loud as I live in an apt complex. How low can you get the levels while still having it break up nicely for high gain tones? Cheers!
+Plaswuff It starts sounding good at reasonable levels that won't piss people off too bad unless they are trying to sleep. However, it really opens up above half volume, which get's pretty loud for a small space.
build or buy yourself a small iso cab for it, if needed.
It must be the 1x12 orange cabinate lending such a tight bass response, is it closed back?
No matter how many videos I see, I've never seen a demo with such tight response and such punch, especially without an OD or boost!
nice little bodom lick at 4:18
so for rock blues and metal, and good clean sounds this amp would do me perfectly. thoughts?
@Gitarrenfreak1000 It's a loud bedroom-amp. Not enough to gig or do band-rehearsals with but it's the perfect portable studio, bedroom and practice amp for traveling
hey mate was wondering about purchasing this cab to go with an ht5 head. what do u reckon, is it as good as the equivalent blackstar one? and does it suit this head?thanks
Can you put a cable from the "speaker emulated output/headphones" to a mic input of my recording device? Like you could from a line out from ss amp?
really good skills where do you leave? i leave at long island
Do you have to use the emulated outs with the fx loop. Can you run the fx send to the input of a tech 21 power engine 60 or fx return of a larger amp.
sounds mega. what kinda settings are you running roughly on OD channel?
subbed beacuse of your skills
AH I LOVE YOUR TONE! CRAZY! @ 1:55 :D How low can you go with a good metal tone?
I just my ht-1 with that orange 12. Waiting on cab
i have the same ht5 amp (great peace of work) and i bought today an orange cab (unfortunately made in rpc). can u give me the ht5 settings so i can feel the difference between ur cab (probably make in uk) and mine?
of course the mic is also an influence over the sound but...
thanks in advance
would it be possible to bypass the preamp section by putting a guitar programme (i.e. guitar rig) into the fx return?
what was the slapping and poping? liked it.
@godlikecharacta Sorry but I don't exactly remember. I know bass and gain were cranked and ISF was probably at 10 o'clock.
How would this setup be in a bedroom/apartment situation? Would it be too loud?
woiuld$ 300 for this and a jet city 1x12 be a good price?
my friend one question, how loud it sounds? thanks! and awesome distortion!!
@ArtInfidelAlexander Both equally good. Blackstar has clean cleans, Orange doesn't.
If you look closely you can see the head moving a little...look at the handle and you can see light reflecting...its a video
Is the distortion only the amp? No boost or anything?
wow dude what are the overdrive settings?
is it a picture or video :S
@Smit2k11 yes it is.
@MrRagnorawk Yes, no boost.
may i play with this amp with my band? or is it too weak?
how many ohms is this small beast?
some weezer around 1:30, dig it haha
Can you verify if your PPC112 is made in US/UK or P.R.C. (CHINA)?
@franktib how much?
hey man what volume was the dirty channel in?
@smoss469 agreedddd
how loud are 5 watts approxemately?
"Awesome pants"...hehehe, great!
@88segovia hmm, probably the microphone or my speakers then
cute >
Which kind of cab are you using?
@smoss469 reverbbefore tha amp or in the effects loop sounds pooop.
What volume is it at?
Does this have an FX loop?
@MatKiller1197 8 ohms mono, 16 ohms mono, 2x 16 ohms stereo.
the PPC looks better in black version :-)
@bradleythebear17 he says the bass is cranked
@franktib naaaa thanks
Go for the HT-40 ;)
any EQ? did u mix/master this at all?
Show your face n what is your guitar configuration
ye this one or the egnater tweaker
@123nickclark short answer, no.
anyone else think it sounds solid state ?
nope, tested one a few days back. and something is not''solid state'' because it has a couple of transisters in the pre amp, mesa rectifiers also have the same principal. what i think is that for a ''practise'' amp you get the best deal out of the ht-5, it doesn't f...ck around with your tone. see it for what it is, a very good sounding practise amp,
it is alot of sand in it , the beginning of the preamp the end of that is tube (ecc83) , the output tube is 12bh7 push pull
playing hendrix with with that heavy dose of gain seems wrong to me.... but that amp O.o
its an excuse!
@franktib Mine doesn't. Get a better reverb pedal.
I own the combo version and it sucks.
+Lava it depends on your standards.. lol.
+Lava blackstar high budget amps are great, but I think the problem with the HT-5 is the speaker in the combo.. maybe swapping the tubes and with a better speaker it could sound better.. also is lacking a switch for lowering the power as low as 1 watt for bedroom proposes ;)
+Lava clean channel is great but I would rather use stompboxes as my drive channel than using the drive channel of the amp.
+Lava Marshall and Vox are the way to go, not every amp are made for great players.. I don't know about you.
+Lava Blackstar HT-5 combo would sound better with a Vintage 30 speaker or an Eminence speaker ;)
It's good, but the price is too expensive. If the price is low, there will be many other choices And if you choose Chinese products at high prices, many Americans will be angry.
@MatKiller1197 $475
You're wrong.
they should give up this silly colour
Can you put a cable from the "speaker emulated output/headphones" to a mic input of my recording device? Like you could from a line out from ss amp?
