@@KalaniHubbard I own the Zeiss but I prefer the look of the Canon. Awesome video brother please make more videos like this. Wish I had hair like yours, never seen anything like it, it's amazing!
nice comparison, thank u, but a big compromise would be that this canon lens is way faster than the Zeiss and I wouldn't buy the Zeiss for that only reason, happy new year:)
Thank you! Definitely, that was one thing I forgot to mention in the video! The difference doesn't bother me, but that's definitely something to factor in. Happy new year!
thank u for replying back, wish maybe someday u would make a video comparison on Leica Summicron-C and the Cooke miniS4 would be nice for people like me who wish to buy a set of prime lenses and live in a country where testing lenses in real is hard to do, cheers:)
SkintSNIPER262 it means the lens has a faster F or T stop, example F1.2 so u can be able to film in the dark with less or no lighting and u can have more depth of field and bokeh during the day.
Love this review, showing the cameras with good light on a c100. Goes to show how important glass is, not merely camera sensor. The lack of coating on the canon, would you say helps it flare easier? (in a positive way?)
Bobby Pitts thank you! The canon lens definitely flares a lot more than the zeiss lens. I think it looks really nice. Sometimes there's nothing like a good lens flare!
Nice video. I have the C100mk2 with primarely rokinon/samyang primes. So looking to upgrade. On another note. Do you have a guide to your worklow? Want to learn how to get the most out of my canon. Both in camera settings and techniques, but also post tips and tricks. If not do you have any tips on other great guides? Thanks!
Thanks man! I had that same setup for a while. It's a great combo! I've been planning on making some post production videos, so hopefully I can get around to it sooner than later. If you aren't already subscribed, Film Riot has some awesome workflow videos on their channel. I'll try to get some more tutorials on my channel in 2017. It's been too long!
You put together a heck of a video here, including great use of your beat markers. Definitely looks "high production value" to me. I'm expecting more videos from you in 2017 so I just subscribed !!! I'm still working with a 5D mk II (and two T2i's) and the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 DS cine lens (and several Canon L and primes) but thinking about getting myself a C100 later this year for a movie we're filming for Amazon Prime. Can you give us 2 great videos per month ??????
Excellent video sir....i am even more confused now as you have given me even more choices now.....i was also amazed with the Canon colours with those lens's.....and that is the C100.......wow....i am looking into the MKii....or the C300 mkii......ps....do you know anything about the rumoured Canon C100 MK3 that is supposed to be coming soon!?
Thank you very much good sir! Haha, yes the world of lenses is full of too many choices and not enough money for them all! I need to read up on all the new cameras these days!
Tell me about it.....i was looking at the Canon C300 MKII......but the rumours of the Canon C100 MK 3 will be interesting to see if it is true, and if it will match or better the C300 MKII......i am using Sigma Art len's which are not too bad.....their Cine one's look good though.....what do you think?
I wonder if you would do a comparison with the CARL ZEISS COMPACT PRIME CP.2 25mm/ T2.1 Lens with Canon EF EOS Mount for use with the BLACKMAGIC DESIGN URSA MINI 4.6K PRODUCTION CAMERA, and the CANON compliment. A friend bought the Carl Zeiss lense for use with the Black Magic, but is not sure of its benefit to shooting motion picture with it. Perhaps you would be willing to draw a comparison between the positives and negatives of this lense for use in shooting motion picture. Thank you
I have a Xeen 24mm T1.5 and I'm on the fence about it and debating to get a Xeen 50mm or 85mm to go with it or to jump up to a Canon or Zeiss cinema . . or go with the Sigma Art or Canon L glass . . . or to just make do with everything I have so far, which wouldn't be so bad. I think the Xeen I have is a little on the soft side.
Yea its tough these days with so many different options! I'd say if you are looking for something sharp, you can't go wrong with Zeiss. They are the sharpest lenses I've ever used.
You sre so right John!!!....its a very tough choice to choose ....i noticed you said Sigma Art......I am thinking about buying a Cine lens too....but over the last month i have been looking at the Sigma Art lens's......they look real good on paper, but i doubt it they are in Zeiss & Canon category!!!...i could be wrong though, but if they are that good it could be worth it as they are expensive, but not that expensive for a good lens to use with video. Have you had any experience with an Art lens?
I haven't tried any Sigma Art lenses but I've seen some impressive shots done with them! The negatives I've read have put me off a little bit. Some people have reported inconsistent focusing and poor quality control. One video report showed that the finish of the body scratches easily.
Thanks for the comparison... U haven't spoke about how these lenses were handling the flares... there is a lot of difference btw those two in handling flares and highlights... other than that both of these lenses were almost same for me... thanks for the review on handling reflections...
I tried to give a decent comparison between the flares, but I should have mentioned them! The T-coating on the Zeiss cuts down on flares quite a bit. I do like how the Zeiss flares look, though! I was very interested in the whole T-coating vs non T-coating. That was a huge factor between them. Thanks for watching! :D
hmmm... actually, the Zeiss looks like it's simply letting less light through (agreed on the better bokeh on the canon). The Zeiss looks harsher due to less light. Still both look good. I'd go for the canon for my taste ( i have a closet full of both Zeiss and Canon primes ...so, no fanboy comment here - just an honest assessment.) nice presentation.
thanks for the info. I recently bought Zeiss CP 50mm cine lens. If I need to use the anamorphic 1.33x adapters in front of this lens. What do you recommend?
Hey! I'd say they both give you an amazing cinematic look. It depends on what you're going for. If you like bigger lens flares and a slightly softer image, I'd go with Canon. If you like the T-coating with less lens flares and a more sharp image, I'd go with Zeiss. I personally went with Zeiss and love the whole Cp2 kit!
Well done! Thanks for the video! I was wondering to buy Canon, but in the end I'm gonna buy Zeiss.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad my video helped. You won't be disappointed with that Zeiss glass!!

Iron Maiden Unofficial Music Videos I bought this today
Finally an actual lens comparison with the same shots, settings and etc.. THANK YOU
what comparison???
Great video dude! love the c100 still!
I like how the zeiss was less sensative to lens flares. Good info on that T coating. Nice work both are beautiful lenses.
Blake Bauer thank you!
I recently got my first camera a 50k camera to shoot a few clips of my cat. Do you think I should get a Movi?
Sarcasm detected!!! )))
i'd purchase a technocrane first
you need something much more urgently than more gear.
hint hint
nice real world comparison
well done
I don't know about Zeiss, but I have the Canon 30-105mm and the Canon 35mm cinema lenses. I love them!

Could you expand and define what a "faster" lens is?
SkintSNIPER262 it means the lens has a faster F or T stop, example F1.2 so u can be able to film in the dark with less or no lighting and u can have more depth of field and bokeh during the day.

Does the canon lens work on a full frame 6k sensor?
Hi thank you very much for your test, Zeiss is good you are right but is the price of the lenses?

In my understanding the images you set is 1:58 and 2:02 ... Canon is superior.
Go eat an enchilada
Thanks for the good comparison!

Thank you very much! I shot this with the Canon C100.
Song name?
But in which camera
This was very good thanks

which one is good 55mm 85mm
hi there it's great compression thanks a lot how about this 85mm of ziess CP.2 85 mm/T1.5 Super Speed T 1.5 to T 22
Thank you! I own the 85mm CP2 Super Speed, and I love it. It's a really great lens.
when is red jumpsuit gonna release a new music video? :P
Thanks for the comparison, they come off a little video like to me. Can you compare this with the CP.3 next?
God bless you.. doing good job
hmmm... actually, the Zeiss looks like it's simply letting less light through (agreed on the better bokeh on the canon). The Zeiss looks harsher due to less light.

I like the rockstar hair...
on the CP3 is there electronic info on the lens?
Black Film Guild the new CP3s have electronic info. The CP2s do not.
Thank you :)
thanks for the info. I recently bought Zeiss CP 50mm cine lens. If I need to use the anamorphic 1.33x adapters in front of this lens. What do you recommend?

Kalani Hubbard thanks bro
So i guess Chewbacca decided to shave, somewhat, and become a cameraman and reviewer
nice vid xD
JNS Vault lol thanks
you're a jerk, but you did make me laugh
How about now
Breathing?
Focus from deep was thrown on first clips
Am I the only one that thinks he looks like Wednesday addams
Zeiss looks much softer and bokeh a little bit more oval than Canon. Just my opinion)
Zeiss beats the crap out of canon in many aspects here
A very difficult decision. I choose canon
click... NOICE!
canon.
Canon better I think
O
Pretty dumb reasons why you chose the Zeiss.
Cut your hair... it's. Not looking good...you look like girl
His hair is amazing! I wish I had hair like that because women would love touching and playing with it.
His hair is absolutely epic.
