Nick Symmonds is a very fast 800 meter runner 1:42.95 fifth place in London Olympics. 51.50 and 51.45. I mean 8th place would have took gold at the Olympics 4 years earlier. Congratulations on the job well done.
He is a sprinter in a sense, but you're right for the most part, because being 5' 10" (though he looks shorter) and 165 pounds isn't your typical middle distance prototype.
Yes Nick seems to have "spark plug" type body which disadvantages him somewhat to bigger guys. His stride length against taller longer gated runners is a disadvantage but perfection of technique and economy of that effort can overcome any paper physicality.
christpusha well, they sort of were, the idea is to run on race pace. So if you want like a 2:20, you try to do all 3 on 1:10, some do it with only a minute of rest as a prediction workout. They do it on what they're race pace is, average them out, then double cause it's two laps. And there ya go
"Yeah we'll try to hit the next one at 51 flat."
...
"What was that one?"
"50.99"
They sure can hit a pace...

If i run a 400 in 51 my next 400 will be probably a month later
N John homie what?
True my best is 56
I know it’s all relative, but hearing someone say “they look a little slow” just makes me laugh
Haha facts
3x400 with 4' rest in 50'... JUST IMPOSSIBILE! Awesome
And fast forward to 2020 and he does the same workout in 61,60,59😂😂😂
Whats funny about that?
Still hella solid
He lifts weights now and runs a business dudes actually much healthier. You been to the Olympics?
Amazing how exciting this was... Watching five guys run a lap 3x, filmed by a cell phone...I loved it.

Well, uh, I liked it too!
That third rep must be brutal, can't believe that one guy hit such a good time.
I accidentally broke a kid's nose when I played soccer at that field when I was little.
I was that kid.
Nah that was me
Have you noticed that Nick Symmonds really has more a a sprinter's body type?He looks like he does a lot of heavy weights.
Trackstar4ever clearly you have no idea what you're talking about
Trackstar4ever What are u talking about?
He's a real swell guy, Nick Symmonds and his parents are equally swell. I was chatting to them in the stands a few years back.

I wonder if u wanted to do this workout yourself what percentage should you be running at because ik they werent going 100% each rep

according to one of nick's videos on his RUclips channel, his PB in 400m is 47 ish.
so running 4 or 5 seconds slower (in 400m) could be around 85~90%
@@PUMBAANA He wasn't in his prime in this video though, at this point in time I think he'd be hard-pressed to run sub 49.
Symmonds said in his training log he never trains 100%, prob going around 90% effort for these
How many hours you guys spend on training in a week
vikash kumar 0
Can you please tell me. How much time they got to rest (recover) from each 400m?
4 mins
song name?
I thought that was Andrew Wheating for a second in the orange.
My best 47 sec
Hi nick, what's your goal? If you do such runs, you will probably want to run a fast 800?
Nick is retired now, but he has a personal best of 1:42.95 from the London Olympic finals.
you should do 400s in lane 4 or 5
The 800m is run in lane 1, therefore they should practice in lane 1.
Is Nick Symmonds nice in person?
2ndPSYOPgrp. TPT1640 yes i think, he is a very great person!
He has a RUclips channel, check it!
Hard training
His hips away side to side because maybe leg length is different or hips not aligned. Gives a duck effect of running.
I think i could run that....then have my legs cramp up and call it a night XD
Would have been cooler if they performed the workout wearing Brooks Beasts
Oh that's what I thought they were doing...
Gebresselassie does them in sub 50 sec in training
No way, Nick Symmonds runs a 1:42 800 and Geb runs a 1:49 800m
Nick ran 47 400m@@user-op6ey5hy5m
