You cut all the stringy hair (Nice).If you cut 1/4 inch every 3 weeks for 4 months than it will grow fuller faster. If you decide to layer your hair. Turn your head upside down with your hair hanging. Brush it all to the front. Wet it and cut.
First, those are the wrong type of scissors to use to cut hair with. When you use a hair tie to tie up the hair at the length you want to cut it, you need to move the hair tie below the area you want to cut. You want to cut the hair above the hair tie, not below it. That way, the cut off hair is secure and won't end up all over the place if you accidentally drop it.
Please please to anyone watching this *do not* cut your hair with regular scissors. If you're going to try and cut your own hair, do it with scissors that are for cutting hair. If you don't, you will damage your hair and get split ends.
Yes kitchen scissors are not the best. You can but a better pair of hair cutting scissors in Amazon or eBay I did for around 10 dollars. At least you're protesting your ends. She did a decent cut this way - I did the same and have since gone shorter. I love it and less stress than having someone else mess it up and not own up to it then cost me 40+
