I'm just closing in on 10,000 miles on my '22 V4S. I haven't regretted my decision for a second. And I agree about your assessment for beginners. It's all about size, weight, and rider restraint. The power is astounding but with the completely configurable electronic riding modes, you can adjust the "attitude" of the bike to your liking. Configure Touring mode for a soft reserved ride but dial down all of the "nanny controls" for Sport mode and things feel much more raw and immediate. It really changes the feel of the bike, makes it feel much more aggressive, but you still never lose that refined feel when you ride. I know it's pricey but when you ride it, it feels pricey. Like you got something special for the money.

Not cheap to run, but if one can afford a Ducati, then one can pay for the maintenance 😜
Although their big service intervals are great with these new engines.

10:33 I bought this bike as my first motorcycle, never rode a 2 wheeled motorcycle before and only took the MSF course beforehand, rode 80 miles to get the bike back home from the dealer, and 10 months later I'm still alive with no injuries. Only dropped the bike once with crash bars and that was in the first week. Yes this bike is okay for TALL beginners.
I thought about the rally, looks beautiful. But was at least $10k more than my new 1290 SAS I purchased. I’m using the difference to pay for gear and trips. Maybe one day, but not in a rush. Plus the KTM looks mean and the orange pops.

Bought a 2013 Grandturismo 1200s for a 1st bike and 1st motor on a bike.. learning curve was the weight at a stop.. fell over a few times from a stall in a lot but got used to it by the days end.. nanny’s helped me with the power, especially wheel control..

What kind of fuel mileage are you getting in? Mostly hwy? Hwy/off-road etc? Any other owners out there please chime in? Thought I ran across one magazine review that claimed they were getting well above the 36mpg advertised. Thanks.🤔
New rider here looking at a '23 Rally vs a low mileage '22 V4s. There's a 10k difference in price and of course some differences in the bikes and accessories. I'm stuck lol.
Congrats on the new bike. now that you've owned a KTM and now a Ducati, I'm interested in your opinion of the new Triumph Tiger 1200 compared to the 2 Adventure bikes youve owned. I think u had mentioned in another video you had test ridden one.
I've only had a short stint on the Tiger 1200. Its very subdued compared to the KTM or the Ducati. Not sure I like the 21" front wheel. Makes the bike not as sharp in the corners. And with a bike that big I dont have the skill set needed for a 21" front wheel off road. Otherwise super comfortable. The power delivery feels smooth like the Ducati but not as in your face. So based on my limited test ride if I would compare it to the BMW 1250 GS as far as "emotional excitement" goes. Very nice, comfortable but doesn't scream LETS RIDE like the KTM or the Ducati.

How is the fuel consumption and the heat in the city..
As a 1290 SAR owner, sad to see you leave the fold but excited for your next ride! Mind sharing how many miles you put down on the KTM before swapping?
I put 5K on my KTM before I sold it. With an SAR you sound like you have far more off road prowess than I! I would like to spend some time with the SAR off road though.
After nearly 8000 km with the Rally, I hesitate to recommend this bike for a beginner. The Rally is, in all senses of the word, a mighty machine. Unless you are a very talented person, learn motorcycling with a smaller bike. It also depends on where you ride. In rural areas with few traffic, you may learn to ride with the Rally. in downtown Palermo, Sicily not so much.
I just traded in my 2015 Super Adventure for a V4S too. So far so good but KTM’s are awesome too.
9:40 the touratech Zega panniers on the KTM wrap around the same.
The SW-Motech ones that you had did not wrap around

Actually, your cruise control will not engage or remain engaged about 98 mph. Software will not allow it.
Your V4 Rally is missing the rear crossbar for the pannier rack. I'd be careful with that is it will damage the mounting racks.
Nope, there are two mounting systems a rigid and a flex system that allows the panniers to flex in the wind on the highway. When you go to do more heavy off road you switch it to the rigid mounts
How do you feel about the reliability and maintenance/cost of the ducati?
I'm at 10k miles with THIS Ducati, front brake master cylinder was failing and was replaced under(extended warranty), rear brake seems to be suffering from the same thing or it is just terrible in general. Oil change at 10k miles will see the cost of that in about a week. So far no extreme problems.
Hello there. I actualy need to decide wich one to take. Multi or 1290SAS. I tested multi and it felt great. Now i need to test Ktm. But what shocked me was the fuel consumption of Multistrada. 8 litres average riding 😮
Can you tell me the diferences in fuel consumption? I know Multistrada rally deactivates rear cilinders wich results in better consumption and it has a 30litres tank but anyway it just feels too much for adventure bike.
I would say that the big LC8 engine on the KTM isnt much better. I generally would fill up around the 200 mile or 321 KM mark on both. From a comfort standpoint the MS V4 is superior in every way while still being a powerhouse. But the KTM is almost half the price. If you want roudy go the KTM if you want refined precision go the MS V4. Hope that helps!!

I am considering trading my Sportster S and Kawasaki in for a BMW S1000XR for some similar reasons. I plan to go check them out tomorrow.

Thanks for your comment on my video about the Ducati Multistrada V4 S Rally. I'm glad you liked it. You asked why I don't use the integrated Satnav on the bike. Well, I tried it once, but I found that it interfered with my comms unit and I couldn't hear my music or phone calls properly. So I decided to just use my phone with a quadlock charging mount instead. It works great and I can see the directions clearly on the screen. Plus, I can easily switch between apps if I need to. I hope that answers your question. Cheers!

My Superduke GT was a Dodge Hellcat. My Multi Pikes Peak is a Audi RS7. Ducati 50% more loot--Like the Audi--but you can feel--and see the money It's "creamier' and even most of the bolts and the fasteners are special on the Ducati.

the rack for your side cases is missing the crossbar that goes across the back. You really need that cross bar to support the weight. It will not turn out well without it.
that cases are not supposed to move like you showed. That is a super nice bike.
Nope there are two different mounting options
if you are going to ride off-road I would definitely have that crossbar. Those mounts will snap off. @@zeromileadv

Whoever told you to not use that bar when you have weight in your cases is going to get you hurt. It is a wonderful motorcycle and great looking. Per conversation with the Ducati dealer heavy weighted case without the support bar could collapse into the rear wheel.

Very strange I did the total opposite sold the Ducati very unreliable overpriced. I had to replace it with a fine running KTM super adventure with no regrets.
