I love working with Drops Air and wearing it, but in my experience it pills a lot, and this way pulls the fibers out of the tube so the yarn will get really thin in high friction areas like under the arms etc. Also in my case the tube is white (the yarn is teal) and it will show once the fibers start to get pulled out in those areas. So for accessories definitely YES, for clothes that I wear a lot, maybe not so great.
have you used other yarns from drops? Do you have any recommendations for ones that don't pill (alot)? I'm looking for affordable options to knit a sweater
@noortje5760 next on my list to try is Drops Karisma. I have tried Lima, and like it but it also pills a lot. Maybe it's just a problem of alpaca yarns...? Generally it seems, the softer the yarn, the more it pills.
I like Drops Air - very soft and great price. Since it's a naturally drape-y yarn due to the alpaca content, I hold it with silk mohair to give it more structure especially for sweaters and cardigans. Since alpaca is a soft/fluffy yarn, that also means it's more prone to pilling and the mohair helps. You could use other lace weight yarns if mohair is not your thing.
I have washed my sweater in the laundry mashine without any problems and just leave it to dry flat. As some others I have an issue with the peeling, so I would not work with it again for sweaters, but i would probably try it for accessories too.
I agree with this! I think I would also be a little bit nervous to machine wash my sweaters/cardigans made of Drops Air, but good to hear that it worked for you!
Yes, Air is very uneven. I've used several colors and all had this issue. For some skeins difference between thick and thin parts is not huge, but I have had skeins where some parts are twice thicker that normal and other parts have polyester shell with almost no wool inside. And it is quite fragile. It did brake, when I used Italian bind-off technique.
@@stitchespastfive I like how soft this yarn is, but there are issues with the quality. I haven't used blown yarn from different brands, so I don't know, if maybe that is just how such type of yarn is in general. Although I experienced similar issues with other Drops yarns. Sometimes the yarn strand just changes thickness at some parts. It is not always, but happens.
I just knitted the Kutokavika Darling cardigan with this, I had 7 skeins and only 1 was not the best and it wasn’t the whole ball, just one bit was uneven and Knotty. I loved working with it and liked the price of it. It tried blocking or washing it yet but overall would definitely use it again. I have just bought Drops Cotton Merino to try for the next one. Great video btw x
@@JulieBuda that’s so cool! Thanks for sharing! 🥰🥰 I’m actually also going to make another sweater/cardigan with drops as I do love the fluffiness of it!
Hi! I only used a single strand of drops air with it, no mohair! I just had another look on kutovakikas website and yes unfortunately it does seem like you have to buy the book for this pattern. I can definitely recommend the book, it has many nice patterns!
Thanks. I've made a ribbed hat with drops air before, and have been wanting to make a stockinette one in the starberry milkshake colour which I think I what you've used. Might have to check out the book, her channel is great.
@@wronggeometry yeah! I really like the book I have made a number of things out of it :) I do love a pop of colour in the winter and hope to wear this hat a lot!
Thank you for the review! I was just thinking of buying and this was very helpful! ❤ will support your channel ❤
Thank you! 🥰🥰

That’s a really good idea to pair it with mohair, I will try that perhaps with my next sweater :)
Excelled video! This was exactly the review I needed! Based on your video with all the detailed information I will give this yarn a try! Thank you! ❤
I’m so glad I was able to help you out! I also hope that this yarn is the right choice for you!☺️
Thanks for this review! Very insightful

Very informative. Could you please share the pattern for the hat? Thank you
Thank you! The hat is the lighthouse beanie by kutovakika! It is part of her book ‘knit this’ :)

Oh wow okay, I guess I’ve been kind of lucky overall then! That’s frustrating that you haven’t had a good experience with it then ://

@@dacekundrate4391yeah I’ll definitely use this yarn in the future, I do love it at the end of the day - just something to be aware of I guess!

Drops Air is absolutely wonderful for blankets.
@@woodwork9593 oh that’s a good idea I have not tried that yet!
Can I please ask what pattern did you use for the hat please. Thank you for your podcast.
Hi! Yes for sure, they are both by kutovakika, from the book ‘knit this’. It’s ’Yukis sweater’ and the lighthouse beanie :)
Hi, did you also use silk mohair with drop air for the hat? Also do you need to buy the book to find this pattern? I don’t seem to find it .😊

The hat is so cute 🩷 could you share the pattern?
thanks! The hat is called the 'lighthouse beanie' and is from the book Knit this! by Veronika Lindberg.
Where did you find the hat pattern please?
The hat pattern is in Kutovakika’s ‘knit this’ book!
