These guys are absolutely amazing athletes, hard workers, and have a great coach to build them into winning machines. I hope that other elite endurance coaches are taking note and trying to figure out what these guys are doing to become so successful.

Indeed, and as always.....in my opinion there are always both sides of each story...at the age of 55 I have learned a lot how much fun REAL sport can give your life...These guys are fabulous in competing at highest level no doubt about, but far beyound human nature... seeing these guys with sensors connected to the body I wonder if they have fun at all:-). I wish them a good mentality when it comes to the point when they will loose their strength and realize this by aging, honestly spoken. Condor
Would love to see/hear more specific data for reference. For example: Gustav’s watts were 285 at zone 2 so we increased his zone 2 training for this block etc.

“Holy shit! Is that even possible?! You are so damn strong.” Something like that. He also said something about the reading (maybe with a “6”) but I don’t know enough about the test or Norwegian to say. I’m an American who speaks Swedish so I’m sure someone else can provide a more accurate translation.

Kristian and Gustav have provided to be the Worlds best triathletes. A brief course called -From long course to short course successfully #Paris2024 Almost 1 year to date. Will they achieve the ultimate goal in the sport of triathlon? I bet >> Yes
Interesting…2 remarks - and I’m eager to get anyone’s comments about it. 1) “we want more drag during the swim with the suit …” not really sure about this assertion 2) I think that in Paris - if they qualify- it will all come down to who is able to clock a sub 29 10k. All of this with a chaotic start from T2 and with the ability to have a monster kick for the final 400 meters. Will they be able to do that? As of today, it seems unlikely against Yee Wilde and some French guys. But time will tell:-)
Hi Vincent, just wanted to come back to you on your question. On your first around drag, it’s the way the interview has been cut. Olav is talking about more drag in the forearm when a swimmer pulls through from the catch. Clearly we want a little drag elsewhere. Does that make sense?
here you should somehow be convinced that the wheel is being reinvented here. yes, the measuring technology has a broader spectrum, but in the last races at gutav you could see that the facade was starting to crumble
Sometimes I think all the numbers provided can be mirage for the athletes to base success on. Sure the stats say your better on paper, but the most “prepared” athlete doesn’t always win. And I don’t feel it’s from a lack of effort or efficiency, another athlete just happened to have a better day
Can anyone explain further what the coach meant by "It makes no sense to distance and convert it into calories"; aside from him endorsing the "VO2 master" device, what's the theory behind this statement?. I'm curious ruclips.net/video/kpEAnrLqduM/видео.html
Your body uses a different amount of calories to travel 1km at 10kph than at 50kph. Many things factor into it. Speed, power, what energy systems are being used, etc. So what he’s saying is that by using the vo2 master he can figure out how many cals they use to swim at 1:15 per hundred as opposed to 1:40 per hundred, and then calculate load with distance + Intensity considered
Why on earth plaster everything with dramatic music to the point where it gets hard to hear what Kristian, Gustav and Olav is actually saying. We come here to hear what they say and not to listen to flipping music!
Amazing to see Kristian still has the motivation to go and win more after he already won pretty much everything. I guess, no one went from short course to long one and back before winning in the process.
"The body is grossly inefficient at turning carbs/fat into propulsion"??? So the body must just switch of the brain, sight, hearing, heating, breathing, etc?
work of breathing massively increased with that fluid in the tube and by the length of the tubing from the machine - just saying - not going to help your athlete with simple mistakes like that
do you wonder why they go away for "a full month" to "a more isolated place"? well it makes it much, much harder to be tested by the doping authorities and makes it much much easier to dope
99% for most of age groupers all of that things are useless. To be an Norwegian athlete you must train so hard till you almost die. If you survive you’re good. 😂😂😂

Great to hear that. We’re going to try and create a ep.3 based around what they are actually doing at altitude training camps this summer.
