The ENTIRE song is called "Hard to Say Im sorry/Get Away" This version was the short AM Radio version. The Get Away part is totally AMAZING....and the horns are awesome.....listen to the ALBUM version !!!
With the arrival of David Foster, producing and composing, the sound of CHICAGO got more and more catchy and also pretty successful in charts all over ! And surely with the departure of Pete Cetera also the success was decreasing more and more !
Seriously, all these reactors ignore the best part of this song. tragic and kind of pitiful they don't put in the work to decide which version to listen to ahead of time.
I don’t know how other reactors choose their videos, but as far as I know, Angela usually uses the ones submitted by the requestor, and I like that. The video version of this song was blocked, so it’s Patreon only. She chose a corresponding version to play on RUclips to match her reaction. As far as the “Get Away” version added on the end, it’s just a matter of opinion. I personally don’t believe it matches this song, even the lyrics appear to have nothing to do with the rest of the song. It just seems oddly misplaced and out of sorts. I’m not saying it doesn’t sound good, in fact it’s a great piece, it just sounds like lyrics looking for its own song. That’s just my take.
The way your eyes lit up when he got to the first " it's hard for me to say I'm sorry" shows just how concerned you are with human relationships and how important you feel it is to be sorry when one should be in order to improve the relationship.
On the LP version, this track seques into "Get Away," which is an uptempo jam. This was a huge hit, and to me marked the true beginning of the band's reputation as a "ballad" band. There are many who don't prefer this version of Chicago, and you may well hear from some of them later. While I'm in that camp, this is one of their post-Terry Kath songs I do like.
According to their original drummer, Danny Seraphine, Get Away was actually a full-length song unto itself written by keyboardist Robert Lamm before HTSIS was written. They ended up keeping the segue part and the end and wrote HTSIS based on the seque part.
couldnt have said it any better or nicer. i probably wouldn't mind this era of Chicago's music era if Peter wasn't such an asshole towards the rest of the band, especially after weaseling his way into the lead vocal spot after Terry's death.
This was 5 years after Terry Kath's death and Chicago became more of a ballad band. Peter became more of a driving force after Terry was gone. Angela, it's very sweet how Peter touches your heart.
Written by Peter Cetera and David Foster. Produced by David Foster. Written for the movie 🎥 Summer Lovers starring Daryl Hannah. (Good idea 💡 to review that movie 🎥 in your other channel.) This song appears near the end of the movie 🎥. Before this. Terry Kath was dead 💀 RIP 🙏. The band was high on drugs 💉 and/or drunk 🥴. Nobody could write hit songs 🎵. Chicago discontinued using Lauder de Oliveira because his percussion would not fit the change in style to pop ballads and contemporary rock. Bill Champlin and David Foster worked with Earth 🌎, Wind and Fire 🔥. Chicago hired them and lead guitarist Chris Pinnick. For the recording, Steve Lukather of Toto played the solo instead of Pinnick. David Paich , Steve Porcaro, both from Toto, and Champlin played keyboards. Foster played keyboards and the synth bass. Cetera did not play bass guitar in the recording despite what you see in the video. You will not see both members of Toto in the video either. Lukather, the Porcaro brothers and David Paich played for many musicians in addition for Toto. No wonder these men were working like a dog! L 🤣 L Other musicians whose 1982 albums had members of Toto: late Michael Jackson, Michael McDonald, late Donna Summer.
I know how much you like the Bee Gees, but there is a song that is like no other Bee Gees song, it's from their very last album, This is Where I came In, but the song I want you to listen to is called "Man in the Middle" it's the story about the fued that Barry and Robin had in the early 80's. Maurice was caught in the middle of the fight so that is why the song is called that. Like I said, this is like no other Bee Gees song you have ever heard, but it's a great song, by the way, it is sung by Mourice by himself, He does talk about loving somebody, but the song is about brotherly love, not love for a woman
Foster knew how to arrange songs. It was a great shot in the arm for the band. No horns because you didn't play the entire medley which includes "Get Away".
Hey I am so glad you enjoyed this beautiful beautiful song I really like the intently you listen to music I like the way this song moved you as do all the good songs you react to Please Please Please do a reaction to another great song by Chicago it's called HARD HABIT TO BREAK in this song they bring out those beautiful horns and the great voice of Peter cetera and Bill Chambilan Just makes the song more beautiful
❤Great song, I've never forgotten the first time I heard it, a teen sitting in his room, listening to the radio and Chicago's new song is played, I've always remembered that.
Tend to think of Chicago in terms of two major periods. The 1970s Terry Kath era and the Peter Cetera 1980s era. The former though great lyrically was more instrumentally centric, whilst the latter including this track being of the more ballad oriented style.
I fell asleep to this song everynight for 2 years after moving countries and being depressed at the age of 12. It was the only thing that could get my wheels to stop turning.
Chicago is one of my favorite bands. Peter has a solid voice, but I prefer when their music is the focus. Love those horns and keys! And Terry's guitar playing was epic. RIP. Still, a good song.
I think most of the younger generations would love the older songs if the radio stations hadn't buried them to play the garbage they pass off as "music" today.
Angela, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all of the vocals were by Peter Cetera. They layered his voice, as many other singers have done. That's why the harmonies sounded so amazing.
As a longtime Chicaggo fan i will always enjoy the music they put out. My cousin got me into them in the early 70s so nothing will come close to their early music with Terry Kath (RIP). Ive seen them in concert a few times though never saw them with Terry. This was also featured in the ending credits of the movie Summer Lovers. To me this started the end of Peter Cetera with Chicago. IMHO PC wanted to go on his own and eventually did that. To me Chicago is a band but PC wanted to do his own thing and HTSIS was the beginning of that as it only featured him and drummer Danny Seraphine. Great reaction ❤
Great song that started a comeback after Terry Kath had passed! it started another great chart run for a legendary band that is one of the greatest of all time! Already have my tickets for Houston show in August!
I love Chicago. This album (the Chocolate Album) is WAY different than "old" Chicago. I'm still getting used to it and it's been out for what, forty years? 😂
David Foster wrote and produced this song. That is why you hear strings over horns. Foster wanted to make Cetera the official front man of the group rather than the 3 lead singers they had. Band said no so Foster talked Cetera into quitting and going solo.
CHICAGO'S RESURRECTION! The band had to sacrifice their trademark horn section on a few songs, and this was one of them. The band just signed with Warner Records, after departing their long relationship with Columbia. Part of that agreement, was they needed to return with hits, not just more 'numbers' on albums. David Foster was brought in to produce, and they pretty much scrapped all of the previously written songs; as the songs weren't good enough for radio play. They went onto write a whole new slew of songs, many of which were co-written with Foster. Chicago 16 also featured session musicians to punch up the sounds to be 'radio friendly'. Toto band members were brought in, including Steve Lukather on this track's guitar solo. The band's keyboardist Robert Lamn was going through personal issues, so most of the piano played on the album are by Foster; including this track. GREAT TRACK!
I see one of your videos a while back genesis no son of mine I subscribe everything.I've got no notifications and you just Popped up out of the blue.I'm glad to see your channel.I'm trying to figure out the notifications
Well, it is a beautiful enough song, but it sounds nothing like 'Chicago' IMO. At this point Chicago the band was done and they just became session players for Peter Cetera. It is wild that this is the same guy that sang 25 or 6 to 4. I know they still play and tour, but the great run for the band's 'sound' creatively ended when Terry Kath passed away sadly.
Ugh! The commercial sugar pop band that Chicago became after Terry Kath's passing. The best thing that happened to Chicago after that, was Peter Cetera choosing a solo career: good bassist, good vocalist, and good riddance!
Not the original horn dominated sound of Chicago, thanks to producer David Foster turning the band into a power ballad band instead of the jazz infused musicians they really were...Peter Cetera and his back up band, rather than Chicago Jazz rock. Great tune, but not the real Chicago. Sounds like all synthesizer work, The French Horn was hardly ever used in Chicago
Have loved listening to Chicago and Peter Cetera as a kid! Thanks for sharing your reaction.
The ENTIRE song is called "Hard to Say Im sorry/Get Away" This version was the short AM Radio version. The Get Away part is totally AMAZING....and the horns are awesome.....listen to the ALBUM version !!!
Oh my 16 year old heart when this song came out 🥺
Peter Cetera's voice is timeless
One of the greatest soft rock songs of all time! Peter Cetera is perfect! Chicago is beautiful! And David Foster is DA BOSS!!
With the arrival of David Foster, producing and composing, the sound of CHICAGO got more and more catchy and also pretty successful in charts all over ! And surely with the departure of Pete Cetera also the success was decreasing more and more !
The “Get Away” has all the horns and improves this song greatly.
Seriously, all these reactors ignore the best part of this song. tragic and kind of pitiful they don't put in the work to decide which version to listen to ahead of time.

This song is incomplete without "Get Away."

A group called Az Yet did a wonderful cover. A couple of members of that band were in Boyz II Men.
One of the keys to this song is the addition of Bill Champlin to the group. I believe his background vocal arrangements were really on display here🎼🔥
100% agree! Bill's vocals are awesome!
❤❤❤one of my favorites best song of Chicago
This song is just so incredibly beautiful. Peter Cetera’s voice is just so magical
THIS IS A GREAT SONG BY CHICAGO ! WRITTEN AND SUNG BY PETER CETERA , THE BASS PLAYER OF CHICAGO !
I have always liked this song but I was predicting that you wouldn't, so I'm a little surprised, but pleasantly so.
This was 5 years after Terry Kath's death and Chicago became more of a ballad band.
Peter became more of a driving force after Terry was gone.

For this song, I always turn up the volume!...the louder the better it sounds.
Freshman year in high school. New school very few friends new town. Chicago is a great band that had so many great songs
My freshman year too... brings back so many memories
This was mine and my long-time boyfriend’s song. We were together on and off for 4 years. He lived in California and I lived in Ohio.
Angela you hit it on the nail 👍
❤Great song, I've never forgotten the first time I heard it, a teen sitting in his room, listening to the radio and Chicago's new song is played, I've always remembered that.
That was cut short 😳
This song hit #1 for 2 weeks on billboards pop chart in 1982 it was their 2nd #1 hit.
'Why is it touching me?' Because you have a heart, lol.
Angela is soo pretty!❤
❤
Peter Cetera has a perfect voice for sure. One of my favorites !!
I was 13 when this song came out.
There comback song. They had been off the charts for a few years. Hard Habit to break is another one you would love

This was the FM radio version and incomplete. The album version went nuts at the end and is my favorite part of the song.
I first heard this song over six hundred years ago when I lived inside of an active volcano.
Lovely Angela. Great song, great group.
Such a beautiful song!!
Beautiful song!! Loved your reaction!! 😊
I find the harmonies in this song exquisite!
I fell asleep to this song everynight for 2 years after moving countries and being depressed at the age of 12. It was the only thing that could get my wheels to stop turning.
Remember lying in my bed as a teenager in the mid 80’s listening to this song on my Walkman over and over. Such a beautiful song.
I believe this is when David Foster got involved with the production of their music, hence less horns and more keyboards.
Great stuff! I’m glad you heard it.
Chicago is one of my favorite bands. Peter has a solid voice, but I prefer when their music is the focus. Love those horns and keys! And Terry's guitar playing was epic. RIP. Still, a good song.
Amazing group and Amazing song
Beautiful song..very nostalgic for me
Beautiful reaction. Thank you for the years of making us smile
I think most of the younger generations would love the older songs if the radio stations hadn't buried them to play the garbage they pass off as "music" today.
I love that song. It’s so sweet and heart touching.
This song is just as good today as it was back in 1982 when I first heard it!
The horns.
Little did I know that song was talking about me
Angela, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all of the vocals were by Peter Cetera. They layered his voice, as many other singers have done. That's why the harmonies sounded so amazing.
I knew you would like this song. You are the Queen of romance.❤🥰
Most often heard this on radio with 'Get Away'
Wax on…wax off!!! Sand the floor!!!
Another good 80's band is Human League. They have a great ballad named Human. Check it out, I think you will like it.
I was 8 years old when this song came out and it has been my favorite ever since. Excellent reaction!
Need to do the version with “Get Away” attached
As a longtime Chicaggo fan i will always enjoy the music they put out. My cousin got me into them in the early 70s so nothing will come close to their early music with Terry Kath (RIP). Wow! Where have I been! Can I request some songs? BTW, Chicago has always been fire! ...just saying...
The album version goes directly into another song called Get Away and really enhances it.
Simply beautiful 😊
Great song that started a comeback after Terry Kath had passed! it started another great chart run for a legendary band that is one of the greatest of all time! Already have my tickets for Houston show in August!
Great choice as usual Angela. Love choices
.
Such a heartbreaking song that still has hope.I love your face when you are hit with emotion.I have to mention your again,it is amazingly beautiful
I love Chicago. This album (the Chocolate Album) is WAY different than "old" Chicago.
I'm still getting used to it and it's been out for what, forty years? 😂
Yeah, two different bands. The 70s, horn-driven band and the 80s power ballad band.
Peter’s brother Kenny sang background vocals on Chicago 17.
David Foster wrote and produced this song. That is why you hear strings over horns. Foster wanted to make Cetera the official front man of the group rather than the 3 lead singers they had. Band said no so Foster talked Cetera into quitting and going solo.

Minus guitarist Terry Kath Chicago wasn't the same but I have also always liked Peter's vocals.
Hello luv hope all is well with you and yours
You forgot the best part! Hard to Say I'm Sorry/The Getaway!
This is my song, but Id be happy to share it with you.
This single version is edited in a rush
Angela is a knockout!
How about Will You Still Love Me by Chicago?
👏🏻👏🏻😃😂
Your reactions makes the songs more beautiful
Can you do always on my mind by Willie Nelson please thank you
Ok, to be said, I have the biggest RUclips crush on you ever.
Hey Angela it won’t let me join Patreon or maybe I’m doing something wrong
Love me tomorrow

Has anyone told you lately just how beautiful you are ❤
If you can't play it on youtube, you shouldn't change us to see on Patreon.
You can't do this and not also do "If You Leave Me Now"... :)
Ugh! The commercial sugar pop band that Chicago became after Terry Kath's passing. The best thing that happened to Chicago after that, was Peter Cetera choosing a solo career: good bassist, good vocalist, and good riddance!

Chicago in their suck phase.
And yet their most prosperous phase. Go figure...
Yes music really went downhill.
Chicago sucks and always will. not saying they didn't have talent. But they suck.
Big 80's Rubbish
