This table arrived well packaged and on time. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seems to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
After searching for so long I believe I've finally found the console table for my son.. This will be the very first time working with concrete. Thank you. I watched the video twice and will watch it again after I get all the materials for this project.
Every now & then you come across a YT video of a project build that blows you away. This videos is one of those instances!!! FANTASTICALLY done guys!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Hey Rogue, Fellow Michigander here. Wondering if your wife could tell us more about how she stains? Tips/tricks? I built a pergola a couple months ago beginning the COVID quarantine and all I got were runs & drips on my 4x4's. I used a pergola system so technically I didn't really 'woodwork'. The finish on this table looks incredible and I'd love to hear how she managed this success! I am so excited that you share your cut/plans too because I'm so ready to dive into so many DIY's. Your and your wife's videos are so helpful! :D -Alex-
THANKS for sharing this project! All of your stuff is inspiring (and gets me off my butt!). One note - just a humble opinion though I am no expert, for sure - your videos are the best laid out and put together of just about any I have seen -- concise, clear, attention grabbing and helpful. World class.
Loved making this table (actually still need to pour the cement). The takeaways I have for anyone aiming to build it are 1) He mentions planing the wood...I did this as an after thought when my joints were not meeting up as cleanly as they should be. Lumber from a typical big box hardware store is not going to be furniture grade, so planing it (if you have the equipment) is recommended as the wood I was finding was not straight. 2) Be sure to sand the wood before you start to assemble it...at least sand the inside edges which will be difficult to reach once it is put together if you plan to use an orbital sander or any other electric sander. 3) He saves some of his cuts after he has completed some of the assembly of his table to ensure the pieces fit as tightly as they should. I followed his measurements exactly but somehow the gap between the inside “box” and outside two boxes was too significant, so I had to re-do some cuts. If you watch him closely in the video, you will see how he is doing it...seemingly piece meal. 4) I filled every bolt hole with the dowel except those that held the bolts that connected the square boxes to other boxes (there are 4 such bolts)...reason being, I wanted to be able to disassemble the table in some capacity if need be for repairs or for moving, etc without having to tear the table up to remove the dowel to access the bolts...plus, these bolts are either covered by the top or face the floor so they are never seen.
Do you think is necessary to cover with a dowel those holes, or it'll look OK leaving them exposed? The wood that he used is Kiln Dried SPF Posts, in the instructions. I don't know if I can find that kind of wood. 🥺
@@joy9073 I would fill the holes with putty, if you don't want to use the dowels. The dowels are really easy however putty would be an option you could consider. The reality is, if you don't fill them, you will see exposed holes where the screws were inserted. As for the wood, I bought 4x4 (redwood I think?) posts from Home Depot which may or may not have been kiln dried. As mentioned in my post, the challenge you will face with big box lumber lies in the likelihood that it won't be straight which will impact how each piece lines up with you join them at the corners. I have a planer which I used to address that issue but appreciate that many will not have access to that piece of equipment.
@BanksHolcombe thank you so much for the information. My only fear is that the posts might not be straight. I don't have a planer, so that's another thing to take into consideration, bcz I won't be able to fix the problem. 😵
This is AMAZING!!! I love console tables, I think I have three. 2 we built and 1 we up-cycled from FB Market Place...BUT...I think I NEED this one too!!! 😍
Actually just picked up diablo paper for my random orbit sander..if i recall the price was fair..reviews were good..also great work..i been wanting to try a concrete project..
Really love this project! Might try to make a modified version with a different shaped top to fit my entry area. What was the finish you put on the wood? I like that it took construction grade lumber and made it look really beautiful and not so yellow like is normal. Thanks Jeremy
Beautiful project! I want to attempt the same project but wanted to get your opinion on how I would go about finishing the legs for this table if I wanted a mirror finish.
A few questions that maybe y’all could help me with (I only ask because I was unable to get the plans to open): 1: how long were the lag screws used? 2: did y’all bolt down the concrete to the wood? I am attempting to build this after watching your handy video! Thank you for the idea and beautiful “look” for our entryway 😬
I know this video is now two years old, but my wife is obsessed with your counter stools (white/gold). Can you please advise where you got them? Thanks!
I need to make this 72" long for the 9' long wall I have at my home. Do you think is possible? I love the design, I do love the concrete but I can't make it. Where did you use the 1-⅝ wood screws, your instructions say that, bcz the only screws you mentioned in the video are the 5"
Hi. I get that concrete is heavy but for a high traffic area, I don’t see how this could be safe (kids) if the top is just resting on the legs. What would be a good way to secure the top to legs without compromising or breaking the concrete. I’m looking for a pro answer, as I see he hasn’t answered the same question that was asked by someone else.
What are your thoughts on recessing J-hooks in the concrete before it set? This would allow the two units to join securely, or is it almost impossible to knock the concrete off the base. Thank you.
If you look in the Home Build episodes, it explains everything about the wood flooring and what it is. I can't remember what it was off the top of my head.
Instead of the wire mesh, fiberglass flakes, or styrofoam beads could be used. It will lighten up the concrete but also give it strength!!! At least the fiberglass flakes will...
Sure is, it has finer aggregate in it so it fills the forms better and leaves a smoother surface. Haha, she's the one usually doing all the work. I just happen to get it on camera this time.
The project turned out great but was I the only one wondering why he was using a impact driver as a drill? you can see a drill on his back work bench....

More. More. More! Hope you guys are well!
Thank you!!! All is well here
Looks great! I love RH and it’s nice seeing things built at a more reasonable cost.
Thank you!!!

Beautiful table . You make it look so easy to make . . Guess I’ll try to make one . 😄

Only subscribed yesterday when I saw your bench video. So glad I did. This consol table is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you! and welcome!

Sponsored by diablo! Nice! Thanks for all the details, you do a good job of explaining everything.
Thank you!!
Another great project! I really like the bulky legs and the concrete top! Nice work
Thank you very much!
This is AMAZING!!! I love console tables, I think I have three. 2 we built and 1 we up-cycled from FB Market Place...BUT...I think I NEED this one too!!! 😍
That floor though! 0:00 - 0:15 🔥🔥🔥 Jamison, will you please let us know what kind of floor that is and where one might get something similar?
Beautiful work. I love using inexpensive materials to create furniture. Great video thanks for sharing
As always great project! might have to add this one to the list of things to do during quarantine!
Go for it!
Also wanted to know if you connected the concrete to the base at all?
Sweet build. Lots of good information. Thank you!
This is gorgeous, one question... How did you connect the concrete to the base?
I think he just rested it on top. It's heavy enough to hold itself down.
Actually just picked up diablo paper for my random orbit sander..if i recall the price was fair..reviews were good..also great work..i been wanting to try a concrete project..

Great job...looks beautiful...well done
how did you attached the counter top to the wood legs?
Is there any need to fix the counter top to the legs?

What stain did you use for the base? Looks great planning on making one myself!!

You need to buy Bedec’s for the silicone. Makes removing excess and get a professional finish really easy
I dig. That's beautiful.
Wow! This is so awesome!
Thank you so much!
What stain color was used on the base?
Really beautiful
Wow that's absolutely gorgeous 😍
What are your thoughts on recessing J-hooks in the concrete before it set? This would allow the two units to join securely, or is it almost impossible to knock the concrete off the base. Thank you.
Really like this project!! Can you share the color stain please!!
Thanks! The stain color is Briarsmoke from Varathane.
@@rogueengineerthank you
What are the policing agent?
what adjustments would I need to make it 72" long? Obviously longer 4x4s and more concrete.
Great job love it
Thank you! 😊
This is amazing! You have inspired me. Where did you get the countertop mix? I can’t find it anywhere.
Very Very Nice 👍
Looks awesome, Nice builds too, New Sub!
Love this. I want to attempt one day. Where did you get your barstools???
Que liquido branco esse q ele coloca na pedra ao lixar?
God bless you all. Perfect!!
very nice
good luck
شكرا
awesome project, love it
Хорошо сделали!
Looks wonderful. How thick is the concrete tabletop?
looks great man keep it up
Omg it’s beautiful
Very nice. Works perfectly with your home decor. Love the wide plank flooring in your house. Could you tell me what brand and species it is?
If you look in the Home Build episodes, it explains everything about the wood flooring and what it is. I can't remember what it was off the top of my head.
what's stopping the concrete from falling if someone bumps into it?
I built this.. the top does not move. it weighs about 165 lbs.
Looks great! Where did you get those bar stools tho!
Looks great, did you not join the top to the framework? Id be considered about it getting knocked off
So amazing 🥰 I love it
Waw!!! Maravilloso proyecto... I will copy the idea
Hey man, where did you get your barstools?
Very nice good job
What is the life of wood?
Love it ❤️
Thanks!!
Rogue Engineer problem is now the wife wants one 😢😢
Instead of the wire mesh, fiberglass flakes, or styrofoam beads could be used.
It will lighten up the concrete but also give it strength!!!
At least the fiberglass flakes will...
I love that 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
indeed diablo is good stuff and its not crazy pricey for what u get.
Agreed
Can your next video be 'how to build a woodworking table'? PLEASE! :)
Interesting project. Didn’t realize there was such a product as counter top concrete mix. How come Jamie is doing most of the work? 😂
Sure is, it has finer aggregate in it so it fills the forms better and leaves a smoother surface.
Haha, she's the one usually doing all the work. I just happen to get it on camera this time.
Lovely
That is awesome
Nice.
The project turned out great but was I the only one wondering why he was using a impact driver as a drill? you can see a drill on his back work bench....
nice 🔥🇲🇨
The wire mash (rebars) should sit towards the bottom, not the middle and not the top. You can use a vibrator to get the air out. Just dip it in.
Great table! Please wear masks while sanding
Come on man. We want to become one with our work.
WOW! DO NOT follow these instructions for your concrete tabletop.
Looks sooooo good!!!
