Dude i'm so glad i came across your channel. A lot of your ideas are new and fresh. Crazy how you don't have more subscribers but i hope you continue to make videos!
Thank you so much, means a lot! I try my best to be creative and come up with original ideas. I will continue to make videos, don’t worry. I have a bedroom renovation coming out soon!
Thanks! The cement board is a better substrate for the feather finish to adhere to. You can try applying it directly to plywood, but I have seen it not hold up in the long run. It’s been over 2 years since completing this project and the table looks like it did the day I finished it. No cracking or delaminating. Hope that helps!
This looks amazing, I'm so inspired to try this! Do you think the concrete would hold up outside (obviously making the base out of water/weather proof materials)?
Thank you! I don't think it would last too long outdoors. Concrete is not waterproof, but you could put a heavy duty sealer on top. Regardless, the elements would probably damage it over time
is the cement board a necessary step? I’m building a sculpture and want to use the same method but since it’s not a rectangle (more of an obelisk) I don’t know if i would be able to cut the cement board in that shape
How is this under 75 dollars if the cement mix is 68 on the Amazon link. Lumber is quite expensive nowadays also. Not hate just curious ? If there’s a breakdown some where I missed ?
As you know prices fluctuate quite a lot over time. This video was published almost 2 years ago so the prices are much different today. I purchased my cement mix for $20 when I built the table. You may be able to find the cement mix for less in-store rather than online. Hope that helps!
Glad we have the same eye for design! It is from CB2 but I believe it has been discontinued. We got ours from an outlet store on discount. You may be able to find one secondhand though
Great question! I spent the most amount of time on the corners for that exact reason. I built them up in multiple layers and rounded them off a bit as well. It’s been several months since I built it and it has held up great with no cracking whatsoever. Hope that helps!
@@GoldenKeyDesign asking because I bought high strength concrete and considered actually using it to emulate your table but then I’ll have to actually move the thing when it’s done 🥲
I’ve done it before and found this to be much easier to do at the same cost if not cheaper. You have to build a form and there’s a lot of prep work, not to mention cleaning it up after you take it out of the form. It’s also a much easier project as a one man crew. A slab of concrete at this size is upward of 200lbs!

I really like the end results and it looks pretty easy to make.
Great tutorial! But I wore out my volume buttons avoiding the music. Honestly, I'd prefer silence when you aren't talking.
Thank you and I appreciate the feedback!
Yeah, I agree. I had to mute the volume and turn on 'cc.
Wow this is INCREDIBLE!!
Thank you so much 😊
Awesome, doing one tomorrow... thanks for sharing.🤩
Thank you! Good luck with the build!
Great ideas! I'm curious how the concrete has held up. Any chipping or cracks? Thanks!
Thanks! It’s been well over a year, maybe two since I built it - no issues whatsoever. Has held up really well
Love this! Why do you need a cement board? If its going to be inside, do you really need it? I am new to cement and still learning, thanks!

@@GoldenKeyDesign thank you for your reply and advice 🙏🏼
Nice work!
By chance do you have a list of material
Cool cheap way to do that. I liked the look of the top a lot more than if you would of done a big pour.
Thanks! I agree on the top - this method gives it a lot really interesting and unique texture

Wow it turned out so nice!!!
I agree! Really love the final result!
Your Home Depot stocks 2x4 that didn’t need to be planed down to get a proper glue up?
Great job. Has it cracked yet?
Thanks! It’s been over a year and still no cracking - It’s held up really well!
Can i ask you how much microcement did you use for the size of that table?
Looks really good
I’m thinking about trying this finish on a bar top, just not sure how it will hold up. Did you use 3/4 OSB and 1/4 wonderboard?
Correct. Not sure how it will hold up on such a heavily used surface but I’m hopeful. I would make it relatively thick and add a good amount of sealer
Which concrete sealer did you use ? I am looking to get one from Home Depot but not sure what to use, can you confirm ?
Hi, which screws did you use on the legs? Self tapering?
I used GRK structural screws, but any will do
I love this!!! Nice job
Thank you! Glad you like it 😁
Well done. I like it.
Thank you!
Is the concrete sealer necessary?
Water in concrete don't rot the wood?
What type of wood did you use for the base?
Just your standard pine. Used 2x4s
Very cool!
Thank you!

You have to tell me where you got the sofa from ? 🙏🏽

What is the size of the table top?
The top is 54" x 30"
How did the corners do? Looking to replicate your method but worried about the longevity

Do you post the dimensions for your vids
I do for most of my builds, and I thought I mentioned them in this video as well. If not, the table is 60" x 30" x 16"
How much did your finished table weigh, cuz 😅
Maybe about 30/40 pounds. It’s deceivingly light
@@GoldenKeyDesign asking because I bought high strength concrete and considered actually using it to emulate your table but then I’ll have to actually move the thing when it’s done 🥲
@@camdenthediyer6140 Yeah, that would be quite heavy haha!
Awesom
Thank you!
Interesting
Neat but it's more of a wooden table a with a bit of concrete.
How thick is that table in inches?
It is a little over 2" thick
Thats cement, not concrete.. but it turned out nice..
You’re right. I always get my vocab confused but it ends up looking the same in the end. Thanks for watching!
Love the effort but forming out a concrete slab would’ve been cheaper and easier.

I love your channel but I do not care for the top finish.
Appreciate the feedback!
