    Mine is a 2016 model with 101000 km currently. I bought the vehicle last year August with 94000km. Also has a full service history. I own this vehicle for almost a year now and I've had the following issues:
    Water pump thermostat housing leak first . Complete water pump was replaced.
    Oil cooler leak. Replaced whilst doing the water pump.
    Radiator leak a few months back.
    Personally i believe if you want to own a second hand gti, you must have a mechanical warranty in place. These cars are also not cheap to maintain.
    Major service due in September and the parts alone are 4k.
    The only thing i disliked about the polo 6c gti is the hard suspension. I installed a set of eibach prokit springs and the ride and handling improved drastically.

    I thought manual clutches we cheap until I needed to replace the TDI. Its about R21000 including the expensive dual mass flywheel and a must to do with clutch, this is parts only cost from Dealerships. Maybe can be around R10000 at the likes of GW.
    Ai cars nowadays are expensive to maintain and repair. No wonder some people don't keep these any longer than the warranty period.

    I’ve got a car with this gearbox, I haven’t had any complaints with this box to be honest.
    I’ve found that it drives smoother than my DQ250 diesel car (I’ve also driven a DQ250 petrol a brand new Q3) and I’ve found my DSG7 to have better up and down shifts as well as faster changes.
    My honest opinion is that these transmissions fail 90% of the time due to human error and lack of knowledge or care for that fact…
    people can’t blame the transmission when they using their gas pedal to keep the car stationary especially on uphills then cry about needing new clutches and mech unit because it’s toasted itself on a car with less than 20k km.
    These gearboxs have dry clutches to reduce the weight and resistance to allow for better smoother and faster operation of a auto transmission on a lower powered platform that’s the only reason it’s a dry clutch it’s also not a first of its kind dry clutches are used in many shapes and forms and applications including high performance the biggest issue that causes these to fail is HEAT and stupidity. Dragging your clutch wears it out 100x faster than normal as-well as produces double the amount of heat the gearbox can tolerate not only that but when in traffic in any dual clutch transmission. You must not keep this causes the clutch to slip as-well as to have it constantly flicking between 1-2 you can expect it to have a shorter life if this is your driving style and to also mention the mech unit housed separately these boxes have 3 chambers mech unit gear unit and clutch unit the mech unit used mineral oil and what happens is when this oil begins to overheat it looses its viscosity which is the same effect of replacing hydraulic fluid in a car jack with water. It still functions but won’t be able to lift anything. I’ve found that this gearbox receives more hate than recognition
    If people understand how to drive a dual clutch properly they’ll see 100s of thousands of KM problem free if regular maintenance is done aswell.
    That’s just my two cents on these boxes and why they tend to fail with people last forever with others.
    TVS engineering has kits and tunes for these boxes to make them absolute gems for those who want to keep their car for long and have this gearbox. Go for TVS and install a Stage 2+ TCU tune it fixes all the factory issues with the software that leads to mech failure and improper clutch pressures and more.

    • @user-hq9il7xx4i
      @user-hq9il7xx4i 8 месяцев назад

      Also with the stage 2+ can you raise the torque? Cause it’s limited at 250nm!
      Or you must add Kevlar clutch?

    • @bandile_sisonke
      @bandile_sisonke 6 месяцев назад

      Thanks brother! I have this car and no issues at all. People just don’t know how to drive these dry clutches! People abuse them to bits, tune them above the 250Nm and expect them to last!

    • @moffatk7948
      @moffatk7948 4 месяца назад

      Change the DSG fluid as frequently as required by the manufacturer. Only buy oil from dealers no cheap alternatives. Not cheap about R550/L and you need 3L.

    Hi Emba,
    I have a 2014 vw Polo. I had a error gearbox appear on my screen. Car would not give us gears 1,3,5 & 7 (all the odd gears). Diagnostic report gave codes P176C as gear monitoring: 3. Gear no regulation Sporadic fault.
    I had 2 seperate diagnostics done by different mechanics. Went to VW and they said it had nothing to do with the Mechatronics unit but rather that I need to replace my clutch and flywheel.
    My question is why does the error reset if I switch off car and restart engine and then all gears are available again and then it would sometimes do it again and sometimes not.
    The mechanics who did the diagnostics do not believe that replacing the clutch and flywheel will resolve the issue as it seems to be an electronic issue rather than a mechanical (Clutch) one.

    • @embakubmotoring
      @embakubmotoring  5 дней назад

      From what I’m picking up it might just be an electronic error, probably has to do with a sensor or regulator, hense it resets when you turn the car on and off again…
      It’s very important to carry out as many diagnostics as possible to help pinpoint the exact issue, to avoid over spending or replacing the wrong part…

    • @embakubmotoring
      @embakubmotoring  Год назад +1

      The Golf R should be a safe buy because it has the more durable 7 speed wet sump gearbox, but if not well taken care of it can still have mechatronic issues or clutch wear and tear given how some people drive these cars…
      Also earlier Golf Rs like 2014/15 often have Haldex pump failure, that’s the hydraulic system that helps send power to the rear wheels to make it 4WD, how you notice this problem is, the car will start having wheel spin on the front wheels and flickering the traction light, Because power will only go to the front when the Haldex pump is faulty, so drive the car, do launch control to insure that it still hooks on all 4 wheels…

    Here is why VW cars are not cheap to buy or Maintain:
    VW Group. Lets go for the DSG straight and analyse it.
    1.DSG was developed by BUGATTI(Bugatti is owned by VW group) engineers in the early 2000s.(Hold it there)
    2.It is a very efficient and strong type of gear box. In simple terms, two manual gearboxes combined and controlled by a computer(Automatically).
    3.’Germans being Germans’ decided to put ‘cheap’ variants of those DSG in VW,SKODA and SEAT(The Volume car brands in group).
    4. VWs are ‘cheap’ versions of Audi and Bentley, which also use DSG(Expensive ones).
    5. The point here is: They (tried) to make the DSG cheap.

    I drive manual cars I was interested in this DSG I have done a lot and I mean a lot of research on the 6-speed and the seven speed dry and wet my conclusion was they are so prone to problems I would not touch them I've spoken to gearbox experts who repaired DSG they said they love them make stem very rich now if you buy a BMW zf8 work of genius a proper automatic gearbox not a manual with two actuators that is what the DSG is rubbish design
