    In ww 2 the tiger often engaged enemies at long distances who's optics and guns were not on par with the tiger's for accuracy and other factors. This made the tigers armor significantly more effective indeed.

    My grandpa fought in WWII in the Hell on Wheels tank company and spoke of the Panthers legendary performance, so I went for the Panther. He commented how comparatively easy the Tiger was to flank when compared to the Panther. His recollection was that both were damn near impossible to penetrate from the front with M4 Shermans and Hellcats.

      +Florian Schiemann Yes, Kurt Knispel did have a higher number of kills than Wittmann, however Knispel was a very rebel character, often arguing with his superior. So who would you rather pick: a loyal SS tanker or a rebel thag gets himself into trouble. And don't forget, Wittmann himself trained a fresh batch of men in a HQ in Russia, so he does have the experience.

    Hi QuickyBaby,
    Yes, the Tiger was the first tank I wanted to have so badly. Because it had this WW II aura about it of invincibility, mainly because of the famous German tank ace Michael Wittman. And because I know my WW II history. When the Tiger arrived at the battlefield, it had the thickest armour (although not sloped) and the allies had nothing to stop it, really. The gun was well known for its high precision, high penetration at long ranges.
    All of which I don't see back in the game, actually. I encounter a lot of T29's and IS3's (tanks that entered the war nearly at the end of it), and against them the Tiger is as good as hopeless if these tanks are in competent hands. They have very little weak spots, OP guns that wreck the Tiger in no time. When in reality, only the British Firefly and air superiority (strafing Typhoons, Tempests and so on) were matchwinners for the allies.
    The Tiger gets especially disappointing in brawling against those over armoured, over powered tanks, that historically should not even be in the same tier, if you ask me.
    However, because it's such a hard tank to master, I keep on playing it. Hoping it will bring rewards when playing other tier 7 and higher tier tanks.
    Keep up the good work!
    Kind regards,
    Peter Paul, the Netherlands

      I wanted to rush The Tiger asap because I thought it was the best tank in the game. From the historical documentaries I saw it just seemed so cool, I mean its so damn tall of a tank (9 ft 10 in) so I had to get it. But at the time I was horrible so I couldn't pass the their 4 scout tank.. God I hated it. After watching your videos and tactics I like passive scouting now.

      Sean Artiles Also wanted to mention the Tiger 1 does seem like a good training wheel for playing heavies in general because you have to remember it has really crappy armor and it isn't angled well.. its quite flat. Could they nerf the dpm? Yea they could, But Then I think they would need to buff another attribute about the tank. It's what makes it a beast atm, Anything else is pretty much mediocre or crap. Arty can pen it easy, and racking it is quite easy too... So it's not like its an unstoppable beast.

    The tiger 1 had 120mm ( I think) armor and when it was produced it was very formidable. Very few enemy tanks during WW2 even had a chance of piercing the tiger until the end of the war when Sherman fireflies and the T34-85 were given larger guns than their counterparts. I started WOT to play the Tiger & Tiger II. In the 80's I used to build plastic models of tanks and play tanks with a group of mates (WarGames). We had a large table maybe 3m X 3m with green cloth with crumpled up news paper under it for hills and model farm yards etc. Each side would estimate the distance to the enemy eg "131.5cm fire AP". You'd then get a tape measure and measure from the end of the barrel of the model to the tank you were firing at. If you hit you'd look up the armor rating Vs the shell rating and roll a dice to determine damage.
    It all happens real-time now :)

  • @mihaeltomasovic
    @mihaeltomasovic 10 лет назад +8

    well see also - i was thinking more about it.... the 12.2cm gun used on the IS-2 was actually extremely inaccurate and had a HORRID reload rate.... the gun itself had to be moved to dead center in order to extract the fired shell and load a new one in the IS-2 so it fired about 1/5th as quickly as the Tiger's 8.8cm L/56 gun. that being said - the Tiger was not the most prolific tank killer of the 2nd World War, that title went to the StuG after the 7.5cm L/24 was replaced by the EXTREMELY DEADLY 7.5cm L/48 (first actually was the Krupp model L/43 but that was replaced by the Rheinmetall L/48 as the latter had greater muzzle velocity and was more ergonomic in general). now, the Tiger itself NEVER used the 8.8cm L/71 which, for some odd reason, you can apparently mount on the Tiger in WoT. that gun was used on the Tiger II or "King Tiger" which boasted fantastic sloped armor much like the Panther and really on the Eastern front could not be penetrated frontally in a head to head tank dual with any Soviet tank including the IS-2 even if it found its mark it would simply bounce off or lodge in the thick armor.
    in real life, not in WoT world... the Panther's 7.5cm L/70 was actually superior to the 8.8cm L/56 used by the original Tigers. you may be thinking, wait what, really??? yes - the reason for that is because of the muzzle velocity for the anti tank munitions as the German army used both regular AP as well as HZK ammunition which is very similar to APCR. that is why the Panther, with almost 6,000 having been produced and close to 4,800 seeing a fair to large amount of combat (never coming close to the Panzer IV of course which like the StuG used the 7.5cm L/48 after trying out the L/43 on a few of them first). also, the StuG NEVER was fitted with the 7.5cm L/70 in real life, it just was not... the engineers attempted to fit it, but realized that would require major changes made to the suspension and road wheel placement etc so actually fitted it to an all new assault gun called the Jagpanzer IV-70 similar to the way the Panzer IVs which were fitted with the 7.5cm L/70 were called Panzer IV-70s. the Soviet Union made excellent use of its 76.2mm anti-tank gun (these guns were also used by the Germans but re-bored to fire the PaK-40 7.5cm ammunition) not only as towed guns but on their T-34 (slightly modified of course) and their KV-1 (not modified which is why the two guns look a good bit different from the T-34 to the KV-1). when the T-34-85 was being produced, so many of the crews wanted to keep their old turrets and their 76.2mm because it was proven to be a monster. the only problem the Soviets had with their guns were the ammunition.... in general, especially when being hurriedly produced after the initial German invasion, the AP rounds were very very poorly made and would actually crumble on impact quite often even hitting Pz35(t)s and Pz38(t)s not to mention the much better armored Panzer III finally having mounted the correct gun (the 5.0cm L/60 which Hitler and Guderian wanted mounted all the way back in 1938/39 but the military production leaders decided since they had the 3.7cm used for the infantry AT gun, the Panzer III could make out fine with the same thing and then when pushed fitted a weaker 5.0cm L/42 which enraged Hitler as well as the tank commanders which led to FINALLY the military production leaders to mount the 5.0cm L/60 which did FABULOUS even against the T-34s but not so great against the KVs, at least frontally LOL) which in turn led to many a Soviet tank crew being killed in action because while they put their shell on target, it just crumbled rather than penetrating but the German shells always did their job even through the end of the war.
    sorry for the long post AGAIN lol, i just made one a few days ago on this same thread.... i just get a bit annoyed by the way WoTs does things sometimes ;-) but overall it is an EXTREMELY good game and represents these tanks quite well and above all is extraordinarily FUN which is why we play. just don't try to learn too much about armored warfare from WoT lol because there are so many more dynamics involved.

  • @smesaric

    Yes but a real tiger crew if they are really really good can fire almost 10 rounds a minute. Meanwhile in WOT the su-122-44 fires 7.5 RPM but in real life fires only 3-4. So, according to that logic the tiger in game should fire 17 or 18 RPM.

  • @DBDxULTIMATE
    @DBDxULTIMATE 5 лет назад +5

    WoT penalized long distance engagements massively from the start. In real life a tiger could destroy a t-34 at 2000 meters, and in WoT it can't even see a t-34 at 400 meters.

    Tiger was my first tier VII on the xbox and now I almost have the E75 after grinding upto theT95, Centurion 7/1, Conqueror, and IS-3. I can't wait to get the E75 and E100. after playing the T29, Black Prince, Tiger, and IS I still love to take my Tiger for a stroll through enemy teams.
    I am also currently waiting for the Maus line to come out so that I can get my Tiger P and Maus and I currently am training my Ltraktor crew with 7 skills and perks just for my Maus.
    Being a self-proclaimed WWII buff I kind of knew that the armor on the tiger wasn't good it just out classed a lot of the allied tanks and the German crews were way better trained. I find that it isn't necessarily the tank but the crew operating it.
    Actually the Devastator medal is now the wittmanns/Bolters medal and I believe that Michael Wittmann deserves to have that medal named after him he was a great Tank commander and Tactician. The only reason he had his name removed from the medal is because he fought for his country and committed none of the atrocities that his superiors committed and yet because this game is made by Russians/eastern Europeans that hate Germany they have the right to say what is politically correct!!!! Otto Carius has a medal ingame named after him and he was an even better commander than Michael Wittmann.

      well, several problems with that.
      One, to get any meaningful employment in 1930s/40s Germany you had to be a party member (just as you had to be a party member in the USSR for that).
      Two, only party members could get into the Waffen SS, which was a preferable posting to the regular army because you'd get better pay, better training, better equipment, and often easier postings (at least early in the war).
      As to atrocities, if they go and remove any name that's associated with those they should remove the IS line of tanks, named after Stalin who's responsible for more human suffering than the Nazi regime in Germany ever was.

    The Tiger was very expensive, had real maintenance problems and such but it was the most effective tank in history, And you can't ignore that. You talk about the production lasting only 2 years: What does that mean?. In WW II tank evolution was going at 10 times the rate of present times. 2 years was like 20.
    In terms of crew survival It was unequaled as well as its capacity to kill the enemy. This meant saving elite crews for more battles etc.
    The most important tank of WW II was the T 34, It modernized all tank designs and may have won WW II but the Tiger was the best tank as a machine for killing others!. It was the T Rex of W II tanks!

    • @davidoates4540
      @davidoates4540 10 лет назад +1

      T34 set the standard of sloping armor, nothing else. It was simply mass produced, but a very basic and unforgiving tank for the crew. Germany smashed thousands of these machines into the ground.

    • @MegaRaven100
      @MegaRaven100 10 лет назад +2

      You are very wrong there. Simple construction yes but a very fast ride, and a gun that punched through all German armor before the Tiger. It also had wide tracks allowing it to go where German tanks could not. Easy to build , easy to fix it was not complex but effective all round but not just the slope of the armor

    • @mihaeltomasovic
      @mihaeltomasovic 10 лет назад +5

      MegaRaven100 i'm sorry my friend but that is simply not true. i think you are thinking of the early days of the Panther when talking about the maintenance and technical problems, but those were sorted out EXTREMELY quickly. the Tiger won a contest against another great design by Ferdinand Porsche so was fully functional and very very well designed when they first hit the battlefield. naturally, as with almost any new weapon, some things did pop up and had to be dealt with but they were not major problems so to speak.
      However, that is not the part of your post I am taking issue with - when you said it was the "most effective tank in history", that is simply untrue, my friend. granted, with its 8.8cm L/56 cannon it was able to knock out Soviet tanks from over 1,000 meters easily head on and its appearance on the battlefield was a real shock to the Soviets, but it was not NEARLY as big a surprise to the Soviets as the KV series and especially the T-34 was to the Germans. the T-34 was the greatest tank of World War II if you take into account ALL aspects on AND off the battlefield. of course on the battlefield, the Tiger or Panther (which actually made a much bigger impact than the Tiger during the course of the war with over 6,000 being produced and the fact that its 7.5cm L/70 main gun was simply fabulous, better even than the Tiger's 8.8cm L/56 because of the terrific muzzle velocity) would generally knock out as many as four to six T-34s for every one of their tanks being even damaged much less knocked out. however, the T-34 was SO much simpler to build and maintain, to drive, to operate in general, and so many were built that they could lose literally ten of them to every Tiger knocked out and still have more to spare!
      of course you also must remember that the Soviets didn't just mark knocked out T-34s as a total loss - if there was ANY chance they could be patched up, a new coat of paint splashed in the inside to hide the blood and brain stains from the last crew and able to be thrown back into action, this was done on the field after being towed to the rear mechanics' area. most of the time, German forces had to abandon their knocked out Tigers among other extremely heavy assault guns or TDs simply because of their weight. however, there were MANY cases of a Tiger taking over 100 76.2mm shells and still driving back to the staging area after running out of ammunition on its own power to fight another day. the way the Americans and Soviets treated their tanks just gave Germany no real chance of victory because they simply couldn't because of the pace of the withdrawal perhaps or for many other reasons patch their knocked out tanks up at nearly the rate of the Soviets or Americans.....
      also, if we are going to talk about the most effective "tank" of the war - i would have to disagree on that as well stating that it wasn't a tank, but rather an assault gun that was the most effective vehicle (and tank) killer of the war - the StuG with its 7.5cm L/48 gun knocked out more tanks and armored vehicles than any other single type of tank or armored vehicle of the second world war.

      I've stated my case and so now have you, and you unlike so many I argue with you have at least a well formulated case and have taken the time to think it through. SO respect but i stick to my case about the T 34 being the most important tank of WII or anytime and the Tiger the most effective.
      It's 10 to 1 kill ration (5 to 1 for Panther) and the high survivablity for it's elite crew mean't its fighting effect and psychological effect were unequalled.
      Respect to you anyway. And yes Stg III was an excellent and cheap TD/SG

    I watched this video after destroying a tiger with my tier 7 light T71. He was at 100 percent and all of my shots went into his frontal armor. Id just pop out, hit him, back up, camp net reset, and pop out again. The tiger does have pretty bad hull armor. Your videos are awesome and informative. Keep up the good work Quickybaby!

    Tiger was my first defender medal, first Radley Walters, first tier 7 and first tank to fully master.
    Not played it in a LONG time, but it will always be dear to me.
    It was the very first tank I went for, that and the Panther, but I got my Tiger first and I loved it. Not as much as I thought I would but I still loved it, and I just like it more now for nostalgia reasons.

    I raced to the tiger because I knew it had a shit ton of frontal armor but.......................... no I was wrong because in real life people would fuck off but in this game.... nope, so I thought this game would be a little bit more historically accurate.

      It is historically accurate. The Tiger 1 had 100mm of frontal armor. A lot in real life (for the 40's). Not a lot in WoT, due to the large amount of experimental and modern tanks.

    • @NotTheCIA1961
      @NotTheCIA1961 9 лет назад

      100mm of frontal armor even in real life wasn't that much. The SHERMAN's effective armor was 80mm in early versions, and 90mm in later versions. Not including the Jumbos. The KV-1s that were uparmored had 100mm of armor, and their armor is at a slight angle. But if those don't count enough for you, just a matter of months after the Tiger I was put into combat, the IS was pushed into combat, and it has 120mm of slightly angled armor on frontal plate... Hate to say it, but the Tigers armor was garbage. It was just good enough to be shellproof to enemy medium tanks at the ranges it could pen them.

    • @TheGodzebra
      @TheGodzebra 9 лет назад +1

      No tank, during the course of WW2, managed to penetrate the Tiger frontally during combat. In one instance, a Tiger took over 200 rounds to its frontal armor before retreating. Most Tigers were knocked out due to engine/transmission failures.

    Hi there, the Tiger I is my first tier VII tank, I chose this tech tree because my friends told me that was the way to go, and I kinda regret it, because this is definetly not an easy tank to play with, to play effectively at least. I have 200 games on it atm and I'm still not performing that well even though I have 55% win rate on it, and average 770 damage dealt. Could you make a review of this tank, with tips and tricks to perform well please ? Thank you very much :)

    • @godhand2018

      WTF who are your Opponents?:) You can't sidescrape in a Tiger because it's so big that you can't get your turret around a Corner without exposing your weak hull-armor first which is an easy pen for almost every tank above Tier 4:)

  • @gnawershreth
    @gnawershreth 10 лет назад +3

    I think the problem of the Tiger I is its tier. It should have been tier V or VI. The armor is garbage at tier VII, and that's why it needs something special to make up for it. The other tier VII heavies came way later than the Tiger I, so they're basically of a more modern and effective design. The Tiger I wouldn't have been the scary icon that it is, if it had been fighting at the timer of IS, T29 etc. but luckily.. It didn't.
    I guess WG didn't want the Tiger I to dominate its tier for whatever reason, so they made it face tanks that it never did IRL. The Tiger was a beast. Everything didn't just penetrate it like it does in WoT.
    I partly agree with you on the skill cap thing. Obviously every noob out there isn't going to have a game like yours, so there's clearly still room for skill when playing the Tiger, but without any armor to work with, there's a real limit on what you can do with your skill. So often my Tiger just gets rushed. Then you're pretty f'ed. You can out-DPM some tanks, but you will get hurt badly doing so no matter how much you try to angle or whatever... And if there's more than one, you're basically dead.
    That's not just a Tiger I thing though. It seems to be the way they make a lot of things in WoT these days. A lot of skill equalizing features keep getting added, and it's one of my biggest issues with the game. I want the best player to win.. Even if it's not me. A ridiculous 0 dmg hit followed up by an "impossible" bounce should not decide the outcome and let me beat a better player who really outplayed me.
    And let's not even get started on the one-shotting machines or autoloaders. You can be the best player in the world, but if you run into a T57, 50B or whatever, it makes 0 difference. You simply can't reload fast enough for it to be about skill unless the enemy is a complete tard and shoots at auto-bounce zones or something. It ends up being game mechanics deciding a lot of outcomes in WoT, which frustrates the hell outta me. And yes, also when it's in my favor.

    • @jwenting
      @jwenting 10 лет назад

      they have to make it so what tank you drive in a tier doesn't make a difference as long as you have the skill to drive it well.
      And they try.
      They don't always succeed, but they do try.
      And the "Soviet bias" idea in part stems from that. Soviet tanks have lots of armour, making them in a way more forgiving of less than perfect angling and positioning.
      But they suffer in accuracy, which for a less experienced player isn't that great a loss as they're not that accurate anyway (who cares if your shot goes wide by 20 meters or 22 when fired from 50 meters, eh?).
      The team that has better overall performance will still win. Which of course is a big problem as most people play the game without any thought of working together with others on their team. They either rush off on their own, then complain that the team are idiots when they themselves get killed in the middle of nowhere, or they go in single file following whomever xvm tells them is the best player on the team and then get themselves shot up one by one by one wondering what the hell that experienced player did wrong...

    I really love this video and I really love the commentary.
    When it comes to the tiger's mechanics (high accuracy, high DPM, low armor compared to similar tier), it just seems to balance out and to work within the limitations of what wargaming can do with/to a tank to make it work. If the Tiger had really good armor, it would be able to brawl at close range. It would be an unstoppable monster. As it is, its armor is strong enough to bounce shots from lower-tier tanks while its gun (which could have a higher alpha) has a low alpha but a rate of fire that makes it a sort of heavy support tank, something that is just plain dangerous when it can get flanking shots in on distracted enemies.
    In the early part of your video, I think the thing that kept you alive against the first four tanks you destroyed was their timidity. You were faced with tanks that didn't coordinate their attacks to give you more problems than you could handle with an IS that choose to back off when hit instead of trying to rush you in coordination with the other nearby tanks and an artillery piece to try to take you out of the game instead of eating three shots from you.
    I've probably already commented on this video but I don't care. This one is really special. I love the terrain use and I love the commentary.

  • @mihaeltomasovic
    @mihaeltomasovic 10 лет назад +40

    i guess i still don't understand the Tier system.... i also don't understand why they include tanks that either were never put into mass production or never even considered for a leading role on the battlefield... for example, in a single match there can be more T-95s AND Maus tanks than were even built in history. why not have more Tiers? why not have realistic reload times for a very good crew..... there is hardly a crew on the planet that would take over 20 seconds to reload an 8.8cm or 7.5cm or for that matter a 10cm shell.... i mean, i think a group of boy scouts could do better than that.... i will have to get used to the Tiers and the decisions made in this game to really understand it more clearly.
    However, Quicky, m8, if you are learning about armoured warfare from this game.... please don't do that. this is a fun arcadey kind of game but it is so far from realistic much less an armoured warfare simulator it isn't even funny.... the fact that most of the engagements seem to be made inside of 300 meters or so is just ridiculous.... most of these engagements would be made out past 1,400 meters or even 2k meters even in WWII (from tanks like the Panther, Tiger TDs like the Hetzer or StuG etc) and the few tank engagements which took place from close range (such as in Normandy or really on the Western Front in 1944-45 in general, or in battles like Kursk in which you had tanks literally on top of one another or in city fighting like for Stalingrad or Koenigsberg) most of the tanks or SP guns or TDs could destroy the others in one shot without any problem at all by blowing the ammunition sky high or hitting the fuel storage etc.... it is made as a kind of FPS (or 3rdPS) for tanks where you know, you start at a certain amount of health so can be shot several times even with rifle rounds in the sense of an FPS like Counterstrike or Battlefield....

      A lot of that can be explained by just saying "Game balance" and it holds true most of the time. Immagine how pissed everybody would be if a KV-2 at top tier could fire once every 10 seconds, or if a Tiger fought nothing but Shermans and T-34s. If you want realism, you have War Thunder. If you want balance, you have World of Tanks... most of the time. *cough* FV215b 183 *cough*

      dingthefries Let me just put this into peerspective for you. A Sherman has 460 HP, a Tiger has 1500. A sherman fires a shot off every 3-8 seconds, deppending on the gun. A tiger fires off an 88mm shell off every 6 seconds. One Tiger shell does an avrage of 235 damage, which is over half a Sherman's HP. A sherman can't even deal damage to a Tiger from the front unless he's using the 105mm. And even then most of the damage is absorbed by the armor causing arround 60 avrage damage with every shell.

      So good that it production was stopped after 2 years? So very very good, that the first time he was put in to service it immediately gut in to problems? Why did it not achieved victory in Kursk? There were already weapons witch could deal with Tiger tanks. Like QF 6-pounder and ZiS-2 57 mm anti tank gun. To say that Sherman an T-34 could not deal with the Tiger is a non argument. Because those tanks were not build as Tank fighting force. And the big kill-to death ratio was more because of high trained and skilled crew. If you would out Tiger in Tier VI that put KV-1 and Pz-IV in Tier IV.

      the tiger would be pretty evenly matched with an IS-2 at that range (IS and IS-2 are practically the same tank in real life. what makes an IS-2 an IS-2 is the 122mm gun. thats it. the IS-2 gets the late version of the chassis in the chinese tech tree.
      the 122mm D-25T gun was used to shoot HE rounds more than anything. and the penetration could barely get through a tiger. much less a panther. the tiger had a 88mm kwk 43 L56 gun in real life. wich would be used more for annihilating a red army brigade from 2 kilometers away (far outside the reliable use of their shitty guns)
      tiger is hurt by the limited view range and weird settings they put tanks in (I.E himmseldorf would be a major no no for an armored breakthrough. tall buildings are great for ambushes, and the close ranges and general tightness of the environment would be certain death for a tank.

    • @TheMaw365
      @TheMaw365 10 лет назад

      rhyso oberding Tiger commanders operated their tanks with the commanders hatch open when no enemy infantry were nearby or when it wasn't engaged by effective fire, something WoT never takes into account with any standoff tank that isn't even moving (bonus only applied with a telescopic sight, meh). It had fantastic view range :) much better than most Russian tanks due to how tall it was and the tanks were better equipped, meaning all tank commanders had binos, something not entirely standard in Russia. The sad truth is, it is a tier 5 tank that was jerry rigged to work at tier 7 meaning its armour is absolutely worthless and it has to be given a super version of its gun to even penetrate tier 7 tanks. Kinda funny the short 88 is actually outperformed by the tier 5 heavy gun in almost every respect, yeah some legend that 88 is in this game, worst gun ever.

    Really after the King Tiger. That's why I hauled up the German line first. While I agree with the points in your vid, if you go up the German line, you get very used to having weak, flat armor; at least until the VK3601h ( decent for tier 6). So the Tiger, by the time your there, is very useable in your hands with the game time you'll have when you reach it.

Its troll armor and high pen accurate gun are perfect for noob training and the slow movement allows you to better observe things happening in battles while you learn how to controll your vehicle and be effective in combat.

    yes QuickyBaby - like you I started because I wanted the Tiger (and King Tiger). I studied the history of WW2 at school and so I knew all about these two tanks and how scared allied tankers were of the Tigers. I was disappointed in the Tiger 1 when I first got it as it wasn't as tough and no body seemed to be scare of me! I got killed a lot. I ended playing it like a Tank Destroyer and sniped and found more success but had to endure the scathing remarks of my team mates...heavy tanks should push apparently. Now I've seen this video, I will try more hull down tactics - thanks for this - it helps a lot!

    When I got the tiger tank to me it is a T7 model of the D.W.2. tank. They both have descent armor to help it survive longer, good guns, 50mm to the 8.8cm, and the speed of the tanks. They are good mid to long range support and both are pretty crap up close in urban arenas.
    But when I started WoT my first tank goal was the T-34 russian medium, a work horse of a tank and can be considered a beast of a tank on it's own tier.

    I didn't really think about the Tiger much when I started playing, that is until the first time I met one. It was on Erlenburg and I was in a tier 4 tank. I was approaching a ridge when suddenly this *enormous* tank came barreling over from the other side through the trees.
    This was back when the Tiger was listed as "PzKpFw VI" rather than "Tiger", So I had no idea what in the hell I was looking at. It's first shot took most of my health; I started backing up out of sheer panic. My puny little gun might as well be shooting at the Moon for all the good it was doing. He didn't even slow down for the second shot, smearing me in a Wehrmacht driveby.
    It took me a lot of playing to fully shake the fear of Tigers I had gained from that first experience.

    The first line I finished is the T29 towards T110E5. I got Tiger 1 after I already had 6 tier 10 in the garage, including a IS7. My preferred T7 heavy is still T29, that I still have in the garage. However, I find Tiger I fun to play and effective, but I do not count on the armor, especially I do not side-scrape and I do not rely much on angling it.
    I lovethe DPM of Tiger and the penetration.

    My first wannabe tank was the T29... but when I finally ground to the Tiger, it became one of my Favorites 52-53% WR over 360 games, especially when compared to the difficulty of trying to play the Tiger II vs the IS line which takes a lot more experience. I am relatively recent 5900 games player but I agree the Tiger is a good tank for an average player to shoot for but the Tog comparison is somewhat loose because as you demonstrate, you have to run the Tiger on the margins and stay mobile to do well. The Tiger taught me a lot about the timing and feel of the upper tier games (much more so than the T29).

    I kind of want to know how many people thought that instead of going to route to the tiger that everyone knows I should explore and see what i can see. When I did this it let me find the T1-heavy and the M4 (also the easy 8) Sherman. This can be especially cool for new players because we have the new Japanese line which are very different from said German heavy line.

    The main reason when i started playing WOT was to buy the Tiger. My knowloge regarding the tanks of the World War 2 was limited to the Tiger, 1 2, Panzer and the soviet tank T34, so it was very limited.I m a big fan of Nazy Tanks because of the engineering point of view and the fact that the Blitzkrieg was invented by the germans, something new for that times.I enjoy your tutorial videos, keep up the good work. *Tiger 1.
    And the tiger was an upgrade of the Panzerkampfwagen, which had incredibly light armor and a smooth, round body. The idea was to prevent armor piercing damage and altogether penetration. The boxy shape was to keep it compact and to help deflect bullets and ricochet shells.

    Really very new to World of Tanks. I haven't gotten around to building a new PC yet, and I got rid of my Xbox 360 when the Xbox One came out so I downloaded WoT when it was released recently on the Xbox One. The first thing I had in mind was I HAVE to get a Tiger tank. From watching videos online I gathered that the Tiger wasn't going to be the absolute monster in this game, that it was in World War II just because of the fact that you're not just fighting against Shermans and T34s like the Tiger was during WWII. You're fighting against tanks that have better armor, and guns that can do equivalent, or more damage than the 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 that you can upgrade the Tiger with.
    Still knowing this I had to get my hands on the Tiger. It's my favorite tank of all time. I love the look of it, I love the massive 88 gun that struck fear into Allied tankers, and I love the stories of single Tigers taking on entire columns of allied tanks and scoring ludicrous amounts of kills on the battlefields of WWII. Now I'll work on my Tiger II, though in reality it was a mechanical nightmare of a tank.
    As for your comments about the Tiger being a tank that takes away the skill element of the game, I have to respectfully disagree. If anything it requires that you learn to play the tank effectively. From my experiences thus far I think the lower skill players have a bad tendency not to angle their armor, they never sidescrape, they don't know how to play the maps, and when they get into a tank like a Tiger they are easy pickings because of the aforementioned predispositions they have. With the Tiger's armor being so ineffective, for a player to effectively play the Tiger they have to play smart. They have to utilize it mainly in a support role lining up shots and utilizing the strength of the Tiger which is definitely the gun.
    I've played in a few Tier 8 and Tier 9 games already and the Tiger is honestly pretty horrible in those matches. If you use it as a support tank, and snipe with it you can deal a little damage here and there but if you get on a team of lesser skilled players you will get flat out wrecked. So when I see a player do well in a Tiger tank in these higher tier matches it kind of goes to show you have to have a modicum of skill to play the Tiger effectively.
    As far as balance goes, I think they've balanced the Tiger quite well. It's only saving grace really is it's DPM and the accuracy of it's L/71 gun. The armor is paper thing compared to other Tier 7 tanks, and the armor becomes laughable against higher tiers. If the DPM was lower, and the reload times longer then it simply wouldn't be much fun to play the tank, and there wouldn't be much of an incentive to play it. To be quite frank I hated the D.W.2 and the 30.01 H, and the 36.01 H. They were like slower, even less armored Tigers and grinding through them was like being cruelly tortured, so to finally reach a tank that I actually enjoy playing was kind of like a little bit of a reward for dealing with some truly awful tanks before the Tiger.

    Also I consider the Tiger a tier 7 hellcat with high health and stopped grinding the vk3601H for it. Tiger 1 is more of a turreted tank destroyer in play than it is a heavy tank and that classification suits the vehicle's designated role better.

The first tank class I played was artillery ( I only have one fully functioning hand ) so from a physical standpoint that's the easiest type of tank for me to play, I love the M53/55 have 2 stars on it. The Tiger I was one of my first tanks and when I first started playing WoT I did not understand that historical accuracy wasn't one of the features of WoT. I had a pretty good knowledge on WWII armor prior to playing and the Tiger I and Tiger II were both very formidable tanks at the time and I thought they were very cool tanks so I figured that translated into WoT as well. I eventually learned that the game isn't exactly historically correct and I didn't take into account that 1) there were plenty of experimental tanks in the game that I did not know about and 2) there were many tanks at that battle tier that were developed partially in response to the German armor of WWII and therefore almost designed to kill German tanks with very thick armor.
    I don't regret starting out on that line, I had a lot of fun and the end result for that line (the E-100) is an excellent tier 10 to start out with in my opinion. I would still recommend that line to anyone starting out because I feel that heavy tanks are more noob friendly and because for the most part the tanks along that line are easier to play and have a lower learning curve. I enjoyed that line so much that I still own my Tiger II and E-75 and planning to buy back my Tiger I sometime soon. I actually feel that the E-75 is one of the best tier 9 tanks in the game and I have had some of my best games in that tank.

    I didn't originally start out going for the tiger, I mostly played the american and british lights and meds first at tiers 1-5. Somehow, though, the tiger ended up being my first tier 7 tank. I really didn't like the lack of effective armor at first but then I learned how to play it. If you think of it as a long range TD instead of a heavy it can be a VERY effective gun on the battlefield. The great penetration and accuracy make it a great sniper. Leave the tanking to the other nation's heavies.

    The tank I went for first was the Jagdpanther. It's always been my favourite tank ever since I first built a 1/35th model of one and then saw one for real, must be 46 years ago now. I believe the Tiger is popular because of the historical game attached to the tank. On the wot front, I do find in my experience, and I'm a real noon at the game, even with over thirty thousand games, that Tiger players tend to camp and snipe rather then get stuck in because of the amour. Now the Tiger P I love and have kept in my garage rather then the Tiger 1. In the modelling world the Tiger, in all variants, is the most popular model of all time. Keep up the vids and thanks for the tips. Papasnow.

    When I started playing World of Tanks, I was going to start heading right for the tiger. Thankfully I had a friend who was a veteran player who told me that I should grind the American line because the t29 was such a Beast. He had mentioned that the tiger wasn't as good as I thought it was. I worked my way up to the t29 and loved it. Working up to the tiger for me sucked because the tank right before the Tiger had the worst armor I've ever seen in my life yet so far. All I remember is getting wrecked in that t6 German tank with side skirts over and over, granted I was new.
