- Millions of voters have cast their ballot in India’s first day of elections. Voting will last more than six weeks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third five-year-term. The Indian government has failed to give visas to Al Jazeera’s correspondents to report this story - therefore we are covering the election from outside the country.

if its voter ID, then yes. we first register with our ID, then we have an EVM(electronic voting machine). We press for the party for which we plan to vote, the machine adjacent to it (VVPAT) prints out ur voting slip. we can see the slip through a transparent glass for 30s i believe b4 its dropped into the case. These cases and machines are collected and the votes are counted.
