  • The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas’s leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.
    He is also seeking the arrest warrants of Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh, Mohammed al-Masri, and Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant.
    Mr Khan said he has "reasonable grounds to believe" the men bear responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
    In the Hamas leaders' case, the alleged crimes begin "from at least 7 October 2023"; in the Israeli leaders' case, "from at least 8 October 2023".
    Israeli politicians have condemned the move, calling it “scandalous” and a “political disgrace”, while a senior Hamas official said the ICC seeking arrest warrants "equates the victim with the executioner".

      Until 2020 he was listed globally as a member of the Kahane Israeli terrorist organisation.
      The US only dropped him from the terrorist watch list when he entered the Knesset at AIPACS request on US senators.

    Big thanks to South African government leaders for being brave and standing up for Palestine ..If the ICC judges approve the arrest warrants....then all countries who are signatories to ICC are obliged to arrest Netanyahu and his defense Minister...Let's hope justice will be done ...the world awaits for justice to prevail for the people of Palestine, though the heavens may fall, let justice prevail.. the whole notion of the rules based world is on trial and so far the USA and Israel have already shown that there's nothing like international law... international law is applied selectively to favour the USA and their allies..
    Finally the ICC seeks arrest warrants for Israel's PM and Israel's Defense Minister for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. The question is will ICC really do the job or it's just for TV shows and wound licking strategy? To me the ICC had no other choices but to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his defense Minister because the war crimes activities of IDF are too obvious with evidence on every Media platform and even homes. Let's hope justice will be done ...the world awaits for justice to prevail though the heavens may fall, let justice prevail..

    Well considering you wont even consider their nation a nation and they arent a member of the UN and other international bodies.
    Why should they really?
    Same goes for Isreal and the US not recognising the ICC or ICJ but are there in the security council and UN to stop any legal action against them.
    You cant judge hamas for not considering international laws when apparently the most "moral" and the ones that believe their form of "democracy" should be followed above all else l, when they quite literally dismiss democracy and law.
    If we should hold anyone to account of international law, it is those that impose it on others in a hypocritical manner.

    No surprise that for the ICC’s Karim Khan, once again, history begins on October 7th even though his investigation has by his own account been ongoing for a number of years and is supposed to take into account all crimes committed since 2014 but he has yet to address any crimes between 2014 and 2023 notably the crime of apartheid, the crime of illegal settlements and the occupied territories.
    The other thing is his apparent attempt to place the onus primarily on Hamas - he's indicted three Hamas leaders but only two Israeli leaders and strangely he is seeking the arrest Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the group’s political bureau, who - according to most accounts was not involved in the planning and execution of the Hamas attacks of October 7th. Meanwhile he has not sought the arrest of either Israel's President Isaac Herzog or the Israeli Chief of Staff or any of the commanding officers involved in Israel's Gaza onslaught since October 7th - nor for that matter other key decision makers in Israel's war cabinet like Benny Gantz ,Gadi Eizenkot and others.

    • @MRandomCommenterGuy
      @MRandomCommenterGuy 13 дней назад +1

      Absolutely ridiculous comment. For a start, the application for warrants of some crimes now doesn't preclude others later. That more Hamas affiliated individuals are currently sought than Israeli means nothing in terms of political bias. It depends on what evidence they have and have acces to, what they are able to prove with that evidence, and who takes priority that woudl potentially stop further crimes from happening with the resources the Court has (not many). The fact that you judge the validity of INDIVIDUAL CRIMES by comparison to who else may have been sought after is doing so for purely political means, which the court cannot do.

    • @paulfildes5489
      @paulfildes5489 13 дней назад

      @@MRandomCommenterGuy There is a lot of bothsidesism that Karim Khan is doing and the point that he is doing this is because he's looking and seeing there is a genocide that Israel's perpetrating - a genocide that Israel's been very open about perpetrating with over 35,000 Palestinians killed, mass starvation, 15,000 children dead and, in order to balance it out, he has to make it seem as though he's addressing both sides but, if we want to be honest, we should be looking at what it is that the Israeli government has been doing in the orders that it has issued to its soldiers - orders to carry out a genocide. If this court is to have any credibility it should be going after the all the people in the War Cabinet and on the ground in Gaza who are committing genocide rather than just simply trying to play this game of bothsideism.

    • @MRandomCommenterGuy
      @MRandomCommenterGuy 13 дней назад +2

      @@paulfildes5489 So there is 'bothsidesism' becasue....? You simply saying it doesnt make it so.
      I don't disagree that the genocide is bering perpetrated by Israel. That does not mean that anybody in the Israeli government can be successfully tried and prosecured for genocide.
      The law shoudn't be going after who you individually determine is most worthy of being in the docket. It should be going after those who it can feasably prosecute under its mandate - which is exactly what it is doing.
      The court has credibility, but yuor puritan mindseat strips it away even though it is acting in the interests of humanity to the best ability that it can.
      Or do you just not think that Hamas leaders are feasibly guilty of international crimes and that's why you're upset?

      @paulfildes5489 13 дней назад

      @@MRandomCommenterGuy To be clear, Hamas leaders - with the possible exception of go between negotiator Ismail Haniyeh - are guilty of war crimes . However, calls for genocide and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians came from Israeli decision-makers, including President Isaac Herzog who said on October 14th "There are no innocent civilians in Gaza." including Prime Minister Netanyahu who used religious references to dehumanise the Palestinians, and other similar genocidal calls were made by extremist ministers in the far-right government. "One of the options is to drop an atomic bomb on Gaza." Amichai Eliyahu, Israeli Minister of Heritage, wrote on X. "Those are animals, they have no right to exist. I am not debating they way it will happen, but they need to be exterminated," argued Yoav Kisch, Israeli Minister of Education."Bring down buildings!! Bomb without distinction!! Stop with this impotence. You have ability. There is worldwide legitimacy! Flatten Gaza. Without mercy! This time, there is no room for mercy!," wished Revital Gottlieb, a member of the Israeli Knesset. Extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also have been continuously calling for expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, reoccupation of the enclave, and the construction of illegal Jewish settlements there. They feasibly should all be considered for prosecution, but to date only Netanyahu and Gallant are being.

    Can anyone believe that the ICC waits 8 months so that they can include Netanyahu???? If they had dealt with this within a month of Oct 7th a lot of unnecessary deaths etc. I think that these Prosecutors should be arrested!!!!!!! What is the UN about anyway?????

    ICC is worth counting on
    It stood it grounds in the test of time
    The BBC reporter was very patience to call charges against harmas leaders and very snapy to read out all charges to PM Benjamin
    The BBC is still a joke AJ remains the best 👍💯
