Something worth noting about toxic lash is that the toxin damage from it scales with the toxin mods on your weapon aswell as the damage from venom dose, additionally toxic lash triple dips faction modifiers so cleanse mods and roar give it absurd amounts of damage. Both of these apply to the acid shells explosions meaning you can push this setup to insane heights against any faction thanks to 2 corrosive shards + spores taking care of armor
Saryn main here. I have 2 tau armor shards, 2 tau toxic heal shards, and 1 tau corrosive +procs shard +umbral mods. I suggest you give Contagion cloud a try - it's like gas, but better. And also stacks with gas effects. Also, every toxic proc tics you deal to enemies will heal you.
From my messing around: It feels like Roar also works with Acid Shells, as well as the toxin procs from the detonations with Lash. You can clear a room in a hurry with it, even against armor.

I absolutely love you reviewed the Sobek again, I had requested this weapon on a few videos. It is probably my favourite weapon with Saryn and I’m dying to get my hands on the Kuva version, amazing vid bro and can’t wait for the next one
Sobek was my "Oh my void... I get it" moment for Saryn. And you just scratched the Iceberg- the Venom Dose augment for Saryn is a *massive* multiplier to the damage of this setup (and Gun Saryn in general) If you want to go *extra* hard on the Sobek chicanery, subsume Xata's Whisper onto Saryn. It's the same type of "extra hit" effect as toxic lash (scaling in most of the same ways, too) and with both active plus venom dose you can get some crazy results, even against the grineer. Also, while I don't *typically* advocate for augur/brief respite shield gating, Saryn is basically made for it. Shed is 0 delay and cleanses statuses, not only being ideal for gating but actually covering for one of the bigger weaknesses of the strat, too (damaging status, esp. toxin) Health tanking definitely works tho, Saryn even has an augment for healing and synergizes with multiple secondary sources (emerald shards, Molt Reconstruct, etc.)
Overextended/trans fortitude/blind range/intensify/stretch will net you ~200% of both. Albeit, it takes up enough room that you kind of have to rely on gross brief respite + molt shield gating for survival also, Roar over Saryn's 4 for a build like that, delicious. That ~75% damage increase with that much strength, triple dipped on the toxin procs inflicted by the acid shell explosions....
I am going to love this video. The Sobek was my main primary before I realized I needed a huge DPS increase and switched to the Arca Plasmor and then to the Incarnon Boar. I never could find a satisfying Acid Shells build, and I am really looking forward to the Kuva Sobek
i highly recommend subsuming roar on saryn with max strength and having as many +toxin mods on the sobek as possible (including a riven) and a bane mod for more premium thing you can get tauforged emerald shards for even more multiplicative damage on the toxin procs (they’ll start one shotting grineer steelpath)
the more effective strategy for some is to build range and strength, where two tarhun bottles add the extra corrosive stack for stripping, and the viral + toxic lash do the damage and funny boom
this setup is just so much fun, if you invest just enough to get it to work in armor strip situations, it just melts everything. the setup i use if someone wants to do a more invested setup is archon continuty max range spore build. the amount of str you need to get acid shells to kill well also using a faction mod is not actually that much. and the 1 step further is subsume roar over molt or miasma(i prefer molt) for the triple dipping insanity of toxic lash and universal faction dmg. even with 150 power str this thing still does enough to chain as long as you can get a inital kill
Hey Mr. RUclipsman, I recently built the Sobek and tried a similar setup. My Saryn build is fairly tanky thanks to all 3 umbral mods and adaptation, primed continuity and narrow minded for a ton of duration, then blind rage and of course venom dose. Arcane blessing/grace for even more survivability and arcane energize + 1 amber shard for energy management (the shard is for energy filled on spawn, so I can free cast roar on spawn thanks to zenurik than toxic lash and spores).
I remember your first Sobek video. I was malding at the fact that you used a riven. Good to see you come around :D Also, it might sound silly, but for more status and some help with survival, the Arbiter of Hexis mod for the Sobek, Shattering Justice, helps with both! As the mod gives status chance and the syndicate effect heals you and increase your armor for a bit, going even more for a health-tank kind of Saryn. If Kuva Sobek can't equip either, I swear I will stop playing this game...
One of my favourite setups is to use it with +toxin proc damage emeralds and Primary Blight so I have enemies with bazillion toxin procs in entire room and then exploding.
Felt it when you said you're more adjusted to tanking rather than shield gating. I personally use a shield gate setup on Saryn, but it's really stressful listening for the audio cue of the shield popping over the neverending hail of gunfire and explosives in Steel Path content. Tanking is far more chill. It works very well for Saryn since her Molt ability works wonderfully when used in conjunction with Brief Respite and Catalyzing Shields. Hit 2 to instantly regenerate your shields. Far more active than a standard tanking setup, unfortunately; you need to be hyper-mobile with gating to not be stuck in a perpetual loop of mashing your shield regen button. It's... Not ideal for those of us who prefer slower and more precise movement over the frantic (and frankly slightly sickening) movements required.
Hey dude. Shield gating for beginners is simple: Add 1 shield recharge mod, and Arcane Aegis. It's the training wheels you need because you've been using Arcane Grace with H/A tanking for so long.
What are people thinking for their progenitor element? I'm wondering if magnetic might be a good idea since we have a single mod That can give us radiation... Combine those with the sobek naturally high status effect and build around galvanized CO for guns. Not unlike the old Kuva, Nukor builds.
I thought Saryn was weirdly squishy too, I played some other frames that have about the same armour and health and didn't get killed nearly as fast, even with regenerating molt, adaptation and health on her I get killed very easily
Can always try running Arcane Grace with Parasitic Armor over Molt with Primed Redirection or Primed Vigor. Strength multiplies the Shield conversion .. So its pretty easy to end up with 1k+ Health and capped Armor DR with it. Kuva Sobek is going to be fun with a build like that lol
Mr gentleman, you need to try/revisit the mutualist cernos. With the changes in cold status, it can actually be very strong as you can proc cold, viral, and pure toxin & slash with one shot. Proc cold and some crit and it does really good AOE especially with mag

Not gonna lie, seeing you fumble your way for 3 minutes straight with Energy Shield when Adaptation not only is in all your builds but also was right there on the screen was quite maddening, as if you just actively refused to see it when looking for mods xd It's a shame you couldn't come up with a general build for armored units as well, but seeing those "Limbo Cata-bomb"-sized explosions was quite entertaining all the same. 3:35 lmao. builds shield gating, then goes and fight's the enemy faction where it's worthless. Cause a toxin ancient or eximus just walks in your general direction and vaporizes you on the spot. Nice one, I guess. :V Some adaptation + health conversion or some armor arcane would probably serve better to not die to poison ticks. Alternatively, if the frame has armor, I just double down with some vitality or blessing instead. Also have you ever considered using some operator buffs to get yourself going? like popping void strike on madurai (1000% damage for 10 seconds), or building some lethal levitation stacks using naramon (200% damage for like 60 seconds with 4 dudes). Although naramon's usually considered the melee focus school the damage bonus from lethal levitation helps accelerate those first few kills on weapons that rely on galvanized or just need a bit of extra oomph to cut through things like the sobek when the enemy level/armor gets going. Unairu is also an armor+shield strip and space saving 60 second primed sure footed in your pocket for frames that don't have it also.
@@MCGamerCZ Also keep in mind for a shield gate setup you want to run Brief Respite or some of the Augur mods on your frame for the set bonus that way you can actually regain your shields by popping your abilities. You can also run the Augur mods on your companion's weapons if you can't fit any of the Augur mods on your frame. So in this case with those mods you'd be pressing Molt when your shield breaks on a catalyzing setup.
It took awhile for me to get it, there is supposed to be another augment mod for sobek coming out so if you don't wanna farm the new mod may be a alternative.

I have an health tanking setup on my saryn with health conversion :) honestly my staple of making my frames tanky at this point.. just slap on health conversion and adaptation and call it a day .-.

Correction for anyone watching this late since Hellmanz hasn't corrected it himself. It does 450 Corrosive Damage and 45% of The Enemies Max(Base) Health as additional BLAST damage, not Corrosive. It also only takes into account BASE health for the MAX health. So an enemy with 150 base health but 60 000 health in SP will only take 450 Corrosive dmg and 67.5 BLAST dmg and even less so for enemies with armor. Which is exactly why this mod is utterly terrible unless you're playing Saryn.
ngl it pisses me off how they gave the sobek augment (a ranged weapon) a 15m explosion radius but the jat kittag augment (a melee weapon) only a 6m explosion radius which is pretty much the range of the weapon itself when you have primed reach, DE pls buff vulcan blitz
im disappointed you havent put roar on your 4th ability and upped strenght in order to get maximum damage, also you should be using venom dose to just get 3 different damage sources
"we need more defense." Haven't done it myself, but I've been thinking of modding Eclipse onto my Saryn. Use DR from it for high level missions, and switch to damage when dealing with fodder. Anyone else tried this? This any good or nah?

gas didn't realy do anything, since only the toxin proc spreads because of toxic lash, and for some reason that toxin damage IS affected by mods, but only by toxin mods and faction damage mods. Also said toxin from the lash can make enemies explode again and so on until theres no more enemies, so yeah gas is literally pointless since it wont spread.
I think it does, a little bit. Gas clouds still should count as Sobek's damage, so when Toxin Lash is active, if gas cloud touches something it will add toxin proc from Lash resulting enemies dying and imploding quicker.
the Hek mod is a syndicate mod, thats why it doesnt work on Kuva Hek. You can put Thermagnetic Shells on Tenet Detron, which is pretty much the exact same Acid Shells, so theoretically it should be fine.
Mr. MCGamerCS I am not usually one to request things on RUclips but I need your brain. I've been trying to figure out how to make the Ack and Brunt incarnon work without using the awful spectral axes, they self stagger and making that it's play style reduces it to an aoe weapon. But for the life of me I cannot make it work for higher steel path enemies. I beseech you Mr youtube man, help me!

I do love Gloom for survivability on Saryn, all those damage ticks constantly healing you, very nice.

Toxic lash triple dips faction damage which includes roar
Put on a few green shards on her and you'll have full armor strip as well as extra Toxin damage. Doesn't matter what faction, Sobek Saryn melts it.
Roar, and every other source of "Faction" Damage, does indeed work with Acid Shells.

You can use green shards for bonus toxin damage, which works on toxic lash and applies to toxin procs from the scaling explosions.

When helminth first came out I was sad toxic lash wasn’t Saryn helminth ability, that was until I realized toxic lash enables this on the sobek

Some adaptation + health conversion or some armor arcane would probably serve better to not die to poison ticks. Alternatively, if the frame has armor, I just double down with some vitality or blessing instead.
Also have you ever considered using some operator buffs to get yourself going? like popping void strike on madurai (1000% damage for 10 seconds), or building some lethal levitation stacks using naramon (200% damage for like 60 seconds with 4 dudes). Although naramon's usually considered the melee focus school the damage bonus from lethal levitation helps accelerate those first few kills on weapons that rely on galvanized or just need a bit of extra oomph to cut through things like the sobek when the enemy level/armor gets going.
Unairu is also an armor+shield strip and space saving 60 second primed sure footed in your pocket for frames that don't have it also.

@@MCGamerCZ Also keep in mind for a shield gate setup you want to run Brief Respite or some of the Augur mods on your frame for the set bonus that way you can actually regain your shields by popping your abilities. You can also run the Augur mods on your companion's weapons if you can't fit any of the Augur mods on your frame. So in this case with those mods you'd be pressing Molt when your shield breaks on a catalyzing setup.

I can't get the mod to drop from Kayla and I have a feeling it's going to be stupid expensive cause of kuva sobek 9 days.
It took awhile for me to get it, there is supposed to be another augment mod for sobek coming out so if you don't wanna farm the new mod may be a alternative.

Try Rhino's roar on Saryn. It increases the radius of Acid Shell and double dips the DOTs. Truly insane.

I have an health tanking setup on my saryn with health conversion :) honestly my staple of making my frames tanky at this point.. just slap on health conversion and adaptation and call it a day .-.

Correction for anyone watching this late since Hellmanz hasn't corrected it himself. It does 450 Corrosive Damage and 45% of The Enemies Max(Base) Health as additional BLAST damage, not Corrosive. It also only takes into account BASE health for the MAX health. So an enemy with 150 base health but 60 000 health in SP will only take 450 Corrosive dmg and 67.5 BLAST dmg and even less so for enemies with armor. Which is exactly why this mod is utterly terrible unless you're playing Saryn.

ngl it pisses me off how they gave the sobek augment (a ranged weapon) a 15m explosion radius but the jat kittag augment (a melee weapon) only a 6m explosion radius which is pretty much the range of the weapon itself when you have primed reach, DE pls buff vulcan blitz

im disappointed you havent put roar on your 4th ability and upped strenght in order to get maximum damage, also you should be using venom dose to just get 3 different damage sources

Haven't done it myself, but I've been thinking of modding Eclipse onto my Saryn. Use DR from it for high level missions, and switch to damage when dealing with fodder.
Anyone else tried this? This any good or nah?

gas didn't realy do anything, since only the toxin proc spreads because of toxic lash, and for some reason that toxin damage IS affected by mods, but only by toxin mods and faction damage mods. Also said toxin from the lash can make enemies explode again and so on until theres no more enemies, so yeah gas is literally pointless since it wont spread.
I think it does, a little bit. Gas clouds still should count as Sobek's damage, so when Toxin Lash is active, if gas cloud touches something it will add toxin proc from Lash resulting enemies dying and imploding quicker.
@@wailfulcrab it doesn't, because normally acid shells doesnt apply any statuses, but because toxic lash is weird it applies the toxin from it

Without acid shells, this gun is just going to be fodder.
the Hek mod is a syndicate mod, thats why it doesnt work on Kuva Hek. You can put Thermagnetic Shells on Tenet Detron, which is pretty much the exact same Acid Shells, so theoretically it should be fine.

I've been trying to figure out how to make the Ack and Brunt incarnon work without using the awful spectral axes, they self stagger and making that it's play style reduces it to an aoe weapon.
