Hey, after Gravity Falls can you guys react to The Owl House?? If u like Gravity Falls I think you guys would like The Owl House. It's created by Dana Terrace one of the storyboard artist and animator from gravity Falls and the girlfriend of Alex Hirsch. It has a very unique, fun, interesting, mysterious story with very VERY good and lovable characters. Other than that the animation and visuals are amazing.

Not a spoiler, just some insight from Mabel on Bipper from the real life journal-
So, Mabel wrote a whole page about Bipper. She said that it was the first time she saw Dipper smiling with all his teeth to the gums, and that it terrified her. When they were driving home after the show, she found a note written by Bill about his plan to destroy the journal and then jump from the water tower while in Dipper's body. Messed her up for a while

I'll be honest, I've watched this show a few times and I never noticed that the agents bugged the Shack.

Like many things in the show it’s very “blink and you’ll miss it”.
A nice little implication in this episode is that the laptop never actually locked Dipper out after too many failed password attempts. He'd been trying for about a week straight and there were no problems, yet on the night when he hadn't gotten any sleep and was incredibly tired, that's when it finally locks him out? More than likely Dipper had fallen asleep and Bill manipulated the dream to make him think it was locking him out.
Yeah, I'm a fan of this theory. Especially 'cause he closes his eyes for a second before the warning shows up
i feel like in the dvd commentary they might have confirmed this theory being true,. i think if you look outside right before bill pops up, it's in greyscale

We know that Bill is trapped in the mindscape. He cannot directly appear outside of it without some kind of ritual. Dipper had to be asleep.

It especially makes sense when you consider one of the last people Bill made a deal with was Ford. His and Stan's relationship ended on completely terrible terms the last time they'd seen each other before he sent the postcard and even for the sake of the world Ford couldn't bring himself to destroy his journals because they were his life's work, thus his and Stan's fight when he tried to burn one of them. Bill can't imagine Ford or Stan sacrificing so much for each other so why would he expect Dipper and Mabel to do so?

I’m sorry “you drive a biscotti” was top tier, so many layers
Not only did the agents bug the shack which you can see in between the floors when Dipper’s spirit moves through them, but they also appear/have appeared in many episodes in the background in the same way that you could see Blendin Blandin in the background of many episodes (the episodes that he time traveled to in order to fix Dipper and Mabel’s time anomalies) before we got our first official introduction to him in “The Time Traveler’s Pig”. There is a lot of strong continuity and easter eggs sprinkled throughout all the different episodes that you definitely have to rewatch the show to catch them all!
That biscotti joke.
This episode blew my mind multiple times as a kid. First just seeing Bill's shadow in episode 4 of the season completely suprised me, then his 2 dream sequences with Dipper and the twist of his deal had me audibly gasping. Then the confrontation between Mabel and Bipper where she finally sacrifises for Dipper was a great narrative arc. All in all a brilliant episode. Now I'm waiting to see you get to episode 7.
*The moral of this story:* DON’T make deals with Devil Doritos and DON’T try impressing everyone you meet, especially puppeteers.

Regarding the puppet show Jason Ritter (Dipper), Kristen Schaal (Mabel), and Alex Hirsch (Stan and McGucket) did at the end, how do we know Alex doesn’t have a hidden talent to do Stan and McGucket laugh simultaneously and it’s not just audio editing?
That sticky note laptop password thing seems to be universal, a few years ago there was a huge scandal bc some major Polish politicians including I think the prime minister had kept government data secured like THAT 😂
I mean "saving" password like that already bad, but it even worse if you using that to a laptop that have goverment data on it, yikes...

Such an enjoyable and humorous episode where not only does it touch on Dipper and Mabel's relationship as siblings, buy also the return of the Dorito shaped One Eyed demon, Bill Cipher who is still plotting to take over Gravity Falls and taking over the universe. Not to mention his power on possessing people when he took over Dipper's body which shows how dangerous of a character he is to our heroes including Dipper and Mabel.
Finally, I did enjoy the Post credit scene where it satirized the Muppet Show and you had puppet versions of Grunkle Stan and Old Man McGucket in the Statler and Waldorf role.
Oh man, I remember when this episode came out. Let's just say that "bipper" gained a lot of fangirls that day

To answer Calvin's answer about why Bill didn't outright possess Dippers body: Its because Bill has no power in the physical world. All of his power comes only in the Mindscape. He can haunt, manipulate, and psychologically torture people in their dreams, but without a consensual agreement with a human (via shaking hands..."make a deal"), he can't do anything to physically harm or coerce anyone into doing his bidding.
When Dipper made the deal with Bill, he unwittingly gave Bill physical power to roam in the physical world through his body.
I think this is also explain why Bill will always try to manipulate their targets right? Cause if the targets not interested in him, he can't do nothing to them directly...

Man bill literally explained mabel in a few sentences. This episode made me realize that bill was so honest.

In the real life Journal 3 Mabel found a letter written by Bipper that once he succeeded in destroying the journal he was gonna make Dipper's body fall off the water tower

Journal 3(the physical edition released, which writes in character perspective)has Bipper take over the writing at one point and saying that after he destroys the Journals, he would make Dipper jump off the water tower and everyone would think Dipper had just lost it.

It's not about the next episode. The one about McGucket is a hint for 2x07. The one in 2x01 talking about "the man downstairs" clearly means Stan, idk why they think it had to be the shapeshifter for that. And the one for this episode is clearly written by Bill and it talks about his ulimate goal which doesn't happen in 2x05

in the irl journal 3 there is a note by bipper that Mabel found which says that after destroying the journal he would throw Dipper's body off the water tower to get rid of him, making it seem like dipper lost his mind. And pretty sure there was never a password limit on the laptop, Dipper fell asleep before that and it was part of Bill's vision

Gravity falls show is cartoony with some dark edges to it, but outside of that the universe of Gravity Falls becomes a lot darker when you think about it or read the journals. Correction, one journal but still.

One thing never made sense to me about the deal between Bill and Dipper because Bill Asks for a puppet in exchange for helping Dipper with the laptop. So how is it that Bill was able to not keep his end of the bargain by breaking it, but Dipper did.
Bill offered a clue, when he broke the laptop it revealed the name of Mcgucket, that was the clue

Bill did offer him a clue. When he broke the laptop, it revealed Mcgucket's name as the person who made the laptop. It came to help Dipper later on his search for the author.

This is a good episode! I probably put this in my top ten maybe top five. Bill is such a great antagonist! Bipper is so creepy! Glad Mabel avoided Gabe. Things will be getting interesting so buckle up fellas!
