This is actually a really good historical playthrough for Holland. Maxing out trade in the English channel, filtering all the trade from the hanza too, getting the Burgundian land in the Netherlands, and then using that ridiculous economy to colonize. Hoezee! And btw, yes, all the stadholders of Holland were called Willem. In fact our king currently is also a Willem. Its tradition.
Trade power is dynamic during war. You have the power for provinces you occupy. So they probably had more than 4% once the war was over and you didn't take their trade. I discovered this when I accidentally competed a trade power estate agenda that I thought was hopeless in the middle of a war.
Don't forget that whenever you have a colonist there's a chance to get Colonial Ventures parliament debate which gives some range and an extra colonist. Always worth to gun for it and cycle through available debates by waiting for a month tick until it appears if you're a colonizer.
dude these like goals are literally getting obliterated. have to say that even i am so happy that he is getting so much in return of his efforts. love your work
Glass is my favourite trade good in EU4 because of faceting. Also I literally just learned about the upgrade ships button from this video, this entire time I've been manually replacing my entire fleet 😭
Hey Ludi, it would be nice, if you could make a short guide (or mabe rather tips and tricks video) concerning the mid- and especially lategame of eu4. Your videos convey a deep understanding of the early game and early-midgame but I would love to see patch accurate vids about lategame mechanics. Luv from Landshut 🫶
Willem is the Dutch version of William. William of Orange was the man who started the 80 years war which gave us independence from Spain in 1648. The Orange family continued to be important during the 17th and 18th century when the Dutch republic had 'stadhouders' (a kind of generals) and multiple descendants were named Willem. When in the 19th century the Dutch republic was changed into the Kingdom of the Netherlands our first three kings were named Willem. Our current king is named Willem-Alexander. So you could say that Willem is a common and important name in the Netherlands.
I was motivated by this video to make my own Holland run and I am having one of my funniest EU4 campaigns. I got my independence peacefully and inherited burgundy later, I got a lucky PU over England, I have already destroyed France and I am making a masive colonial empire and it's not even 1550!!! Thank You Ludi
The one thing i dont like about the dutch republic, is if you pick one of the sides, stads or orangists one of those waits until ruler death. which sucks imo. But man great run so far. become the trade power in all of europe! The best idea for the dutch is maritime when you start going colonial. You can funnel alllll that trade with your massive fleet to the english channel.
With holland missions i recommend going for france germany and scandinavia EVEN russia for that juicy east trade while you steal colonis from england, france, iberia nations. later on you get pu mission
You know Ludi is enjoying his game when he gives low like goals within a moderate time limit. His older videos always demanded ridiculous like goals and most of them never had any part 2.
My favorite good is salt. If I see salt somewhere, I know it will be fort in this place in future xD VOC are OP as hell. You can literally dismantle all your ships and just go for them + some normal light ships.
i dont know why but i cant build the indiamen ships.. do i need a specific dlc or teck , institution or smth? i enacted the dutch like ludi at 29:30 pls help
Im curious why ever SINGLE eu4 patch has: (Mandatory) SUPERHIPER TALL HOLLAND GAMEPLAY, "France blobbing", Brandenburg to Unite Germany, Russia- the beast of playing Wide, Ming "playable?", Ottoman are they still OP?!, Spain tutorial for beginers, and of course Emperor Austria gameplay.
Ludi I'm going through a weird time. I don't want to say rough because it's an opportunity for me to really step up to the plate and grow, but it's confusing. Thanks for trying to schnappeldoop some of this unease with your commentary :)
@ludiethistoria Hey, Ludi. Thanks for the hard work. I'm trying to navigate Holland as emperor of the HRE. Can you comment on getting through the religious league wars, flipping Protestant, forming Netherlands with their special govt, and staying emperor? I am unsure I can do all of that and it is tedious to experiment with (or without) Westphalia. Unless there's a way to win as Catholic Holland emperor and do something conciliatory that normalizes non-catholic emperor. Thoughts?
I literally just realized after few months of watching you, that you have good accent when you speak English. Did you have to have one when you worked on airplanes(sorry i forgot the job position you worked). Cheers from 24 year old Serbian, i just got back home from some shitty paid job
Quite the powerful navy already and basically a rather ridiculous reach of trade power. Well probably helps in earning a lot of money fast, where after one is left wondering what to use more money on.... well probably to many colonies or an army or something.
It is so, so weird to watch someone playing Holland and *not* getting Exploration ideas as second group. With the Dutch Trade Fleets, you can reach the new world *easily* with the third idea, and you're bound to have diplomatic tech 7 before admin 7 anyway due to Infrastructure Ideas and cores eating those points.
hey ludi i went burgundy into the Netherlands with being the holy roman emperor is it worthy to stay a monarchy as duch nation when I am holy roman emperor
Not in the long term but for the first 20 ish years it's possible in Germany and Italy and stuff. Lubeck and Riga are good ones but you won't outcompete large nations after a few years unless you expand yourself.

Machiavellian tip: if your allies aren't in position to benefit from your war, always call them.
Proper dutch names proceeds to give it the most french name ever
Belgian actually ;-)
@@kalpeti1 yes but he’s walloon so french name
But the word Dam is in it so it's Dutch
@Jens Hendrickx Well, that would mean that there are no Belgians at all because the other half are Flemish, so they are Dutch actually ;-)
@@jenshendrickx2230 he is actually from the arrondissement/ region Brussel

You have by far the funniest ditch username I have ever seen.

You are legit the best eu4 youtuber out there. I enjoy your commentary
My favorite is Cloth, expensive trade good and decreases the development cost

1:06 Ludi sticking to his Romanian roots. You all thought you were getting an EU4 guide but it was all a ruse intended so he could steal your wallet.
f*ck , not again!
what's wrong with you diro?
Today i learnt that theres an upgrade ship button - i wonder how much thats messed up my navy in all my 500 hours of playing
Yo, didn't know Reformed got changed. It's actually viable on Netherlands now, nice!

Looking forward to the new video!!
Coming soon!
Ludi such a nice campaign I hope you continue the campaign and go more colonial
yes sir, i got the ships as netherlands, didnt change republic early on so got it after unification
My favourite good is spice, because "He who controls the spice controls the universe".
Coffee, I basically love being able to own all the coffee provinces until the 1500s and getting institution spread
The respect have left the chat at 1:58
I like copper because the recruitment time (it isnt that good but I like it), also cotton to get fine clothes and -10% local dev cost
Did you notice Tunis had Siena, Corsica, Sardinia, and the Balleries
You Sir have the chadiest flagship of them all, the chadius maximus Jean Claude van Damme.
7 hours in. 5,4k likes. Iguess the Dutch wanna see Ludi make the Netherlands great again.
please continue this campaign!
My fave trade good has gotta be tea, even got some Puer tea for when the event fires

"the muscles from Brussels"... famous dutch guy
You know Ludi is enjoying his game when he gives low like goals within a moderate time limit.
His older videos always demanded ridiculous like goals and most of them never had any part 2.
Those unique ships are also transportships
1:21 thank goodness I'm already subscribed
*checks for wallet to be sure*
An guide to expanding with armies etc would be nice as most of the guides are 10 years old now.
The indiamen VOC are also transport ships, so potentially no need for cogs
My favorite trade good is livestock. Best provinces to park my bigass stacks in while not at war, and I cba splitting.
True dutch is reformed/calvinist and not protestant/lutheran. Historical gameplay Ludi
My favorite good is salt. If I see salt somewhere, I know it will be fort in this place in future xD
VOC are OP as hell. You can literally dismantle all your ships and just go for them + some normal light ships.

When will you make the byzantium video you promised us?
Best trade good is cloth just because playing tall is the right way to play
No Ludi No Life

You want to play switzerland with mercenary idea, for unlimited merc works
31:20 it’s actually pronounced sinas appel and it’s the Dutch word for an orange and the joke is orangist and and orange
Not always i can watch as son as you release. But i never miss a video. Keep up the good work and GIVE ME BACK MY WALLETS BRO!!
24:00 how you made it to get a +5 guy? I can only get +3 maximum 😢
level him up, cap is at +5
As someone who washed their wallet in the washing machine earlier and has to get a new one, have fun with my soggy, destroyed wallet 1:09
Quite the powerful navy already and basically a rather ridiculous reach of trade power. Well probably helps in earning a lot of money fast, where after one is left wondering what to use more money on.... well probably to many colonies or an army or something.

Ludi Literally stole my wallet!!!
(Or rather the wallet he held looks almost exactly like mine only some wear and creases that differ)
Fav trade good has always been silk 🕷️
Get that like goal so lubi can realise now he's out of the HRE france might eat him
Hey Ludi! When will you do Mehmed's ambition achivement?
Hey ludi would you mind doing a date show of strenght run? You can really make japan broken if you stack Date ideas with the Japanese missions.
1:09 Ludi reminding us that he is Romanian
After 800+ hours I discovered that Upgrade ships is a thing 😂
well, i'm about 8k hours and still learning. it's a very long way, which begins with a single "hey, what's this?"
Jokes on you, Ludi. That wasn't my wallet in the first place.
hey ludi i went burgundy into the Netherlands with being the holy roman emperor is it worthy to stay a monarchy as duch nation when I am holy roman emperor
Yeahhh, tall Holland man!
12:15 Cotton
Is it actually possible to play tall as a one province minor and be able to compete with larger nations? If so would you like to set an example?
You could give it a go with Riga but usually you'd have around five provinces
Not in the long term but for the first 20 ish years it's possible in Germany and Italy and stuff. Lubeck and Riga are good ones but you won't outcompete large nations after a few years unless you expand yourself.
Wouldn't be a Ludi video without the big pp in the sky 😂
Jean Claude van Damme a proper dutch name :') oh ludi, you know how to trigger the Belgians don't you?
My favorite trade good is coal, cuz i'm addicted to goods produced modofiers 😅
Video 3 of asking ludi for an Eu4 benchmark
Do you play on recording world conquest? Should we expect such a live soon?
Silk is my fav Goes up and is expensive
Hey, Ludi, can you do something with your greenscreen? It would be awesome!
Dutch people are tall so that’s why the Netherlands excels at playing tall
Where's that army unit composition guide you promised us for 1.35 Mr. Ludi?
Slave is answer for best and fav trade goods ⛓
why aren't mercaneries worth it anymore after tech 7? never used them but planned on doing a run with them with Florence
Don't you have to capture Seville in order to form the Orange state.
the wallet part scared me because that looks like my wallet i can’t find it for sone reason tho
Silk is my favourit trade good.
Lore of THIS Is Why 1.35 Netherlands Is EU4 Playing Tall MASTER momentum 100
Challenge: Replicate the British borders at its largest point until 1600 ?
You should really try the new Koreans, they are by far the best playing tall nation now in my opinion
Ludi doesnt know i dont have a wallet to steal
fish is my favourite tradegood
