Bro shout out on your come up.. I was watching you when you literally had no drift car at all... I made some life mistakes, did some prison time, been out almost a couple years, and had honestly forgot about you till cleetus mentioned you. It's always a boost seeing someone come up doing what they love. Make a throwback riding video. I know you probably lost some swag, but you used to dial in each trick... But wasting the day watching about 4 years worth of videos to catch up Much love bro
Un inclined motor enthusiast. Adam can drive thats about it his knowledge is pretty low for building and general knowlegde. There building techniques give me a head ache I would have already been done with the lower end as much time as they wasted.
Props on the compression ratio. The greatest break from motorhead tradition I've made so far is to add compression and boost at the same time. Those who don't know and parrot what they hear and read without any experience otherwise will say; Boost, or high compression, not both. What they don't know is that modern engine tech turns that into; Boost & high compression, or turbo lag, not both. A high compression turbo street motor is a street-wrinkler and a transmission crusher. That's what my modern chevy V6 became, only I accomplished the compression ratio noted here on premium fuel with water/meth injection assist, which was important to me because the car needed to be truly streetable and that means being able to pull into any fuel station and pump and go. I didn't hear concrete goals mentioned here to put the power levels into perspective; intended boost level and most helpful to your followers, the concrete limit ranges you established on pump fuel. I believe this info is important for the masses because judging from the overly complicated manner in which this motor is designed, requiring excessive disassembly to access certain key parts (I can remove rods and pistons from the GM V6 with the motor sitting in the engine bay fully mounted for example), suggests that a basic rebuild alone is pretty expensive and time consuming, long before one reaches the cost of forged rods and pistons on a motor whos weak link at the ~500/500 point is the rods. Piston technology is pretty well advanced and the stock piston would probably hold well beyond the stock rod limit established and would be more desirable from the point of the original design compatibility and practicality. Just pointing out some things that make performance more affordable for the masses, who are unwilling, or not able to go all out on expenses, but would like to have a smoking fast car. Great job on the demo. Here is an example source for what happens when the limit is exceeded; ruclips.net/video/HypiYUMvESw/видео.html
Easy way to get the rod cap off is unscrew the rod bolts a little. Hold the rod upside down holding the cap with one hand and tap the top of the rod bolts with a small rubber mallet
from my experience, on a vq35hr, just a de-stroked 37.. same block) on a mainline hub dyno, and twin efr7163's. similar to your setup. 900whp is reliable. 950-1000 is the limit for stock liners. well, they dont break, just wobble around and push head gaskets. i had 920, no problems. (just a forged bottom end and arp standard head studs) pushed it to 950. and the stock head gasket let go. i thought it needed more head clamp, so i managed to make vr38 12mm arp 625 stubs work in the vq35hr. and it made no difference at all. still pushed the gasket and a cosworth one too this time) so id keep it at 900wheel on a mainline. (1000-1050 dyno jet) :)
Another great video I love the engine building and Alberto is more confident these days, I love the way he just pauses with Adams humour as the look on his face shows he is translating it in to spanish to see if it makes any sense but still no.
probably open cause he wants better cooling, but when he's gonna build the VQ37 the second time he might go closed so that it won't blow up lmfao... keep in mind its a drag build so he needs strong internals
I love watching these videos, BigBoost is such an amazing teacher! His explanations are always thorough and thought out, and Adam youre the best can i say, apprentice? I never knew extra blow-by happens with ethanol fuel; explains why my catch can fills up quick lol..
Lathe turn the shaft on your ring grinder to 1/2" so a battery drill can run it. Speeds up the job a bunch! Buy the tool from ISKY so you can o-ring the top of the cylinders by hand. It is easy and stops blowing head gaskets.
Any 4cyl 4runner or Tacoma (even t100s with the 3rz engine) will have that D shape water pump gasket. Tacomas from 95.5-04 and 4runner’s from 96-02 with the 4cyl engine.
11.5 is the static compression. What is is roughly with valve over lap. (Static obviously means while not running. So compression while running is tad lower
Purrrrrrrrfect....!. I believe the VR has a slightly longer rod and the restriction to rpm is from too sharp a rod/piston angle........that's all I'm giving away. Xo. Big boost has hands of 👽.........!!!!! Last of the giant DNA. "Bring it."sokkoi.
the best part of the video was Alberto sucking his hand into the piston for minutes lmao
*Alberbo
The Big Dog shirt reference! My dad was a cool 350 and rocked those for years, rest in peace Pops!
Aaaaddddaaaaaaammm you have to take zeroy to drag week!!!!!! The ultimate test!!

Much love bro
Love that the vq platform is getting some love!
I love engine building videos and building engines
Alberto is always on par with his input and mechanics skills. Can’t wait for this build!!
perfect timing, just got off of lunch and needed something to waste time on this friday
ty flex god
Workshop banta is amazing, every bloke becomes a child with a long day in the workshop.
I need to up my ASMR coffee game!!!
Year of the flex is almost over😭
Year of ignorance is just about to begin
It’s the decade of the flex so we chillin
No its not
Racing Potato umm decade is also ending too
3 1 decade is also starting too...
Feels like an old video.. In a good way! Just you and Alberto!
Love it
Always love watching engine builds, getting to learn about the different things you can use for them 👍
VR38 is a closed deck block... come up to Jacksonville... I got 2 of them apart right now...
Man these engines are cool! I knew nothing about them before this. Thanks for sharing man.
Same kinda cool to see how they are designed
doing stuff with mazworx finally!! so when is the ve head SR20 build?
if if aint broke don't fix it
You been SR22VET
As a specialist in SR20VET and dealing with VQ +1111111 on a SR VET build.
Not first not last but happy to be here have a good Christmas adam
Dammit Javi. Pick your stuff up
Well if you aint first you're last.
when its just adam and alberto vids its always a good time. reminds me of when they were putting together the 2jz. just some bros broin out.
No ones gonna mention he said VQ37DE? Even though it's a VHR
S13Super was looking for this comment 😂 he also referred to TJs old motor as a HR and not DE
S13Super I thought I was the only
One who noticed lol
Not everyone can have the unfortunate knowledge of the VQs :/
No one cares because no one cares about v engines... unless it's the vr38 or vk56 🤷♂️
Un inclined motor enthusiast. Adam can drive thats about it his knowledge is pretty low for building and general knowlegde. There building techniques give me a head ache I would have already been done with the lower end as much time as they wasted.
YES, I love the more personal vibe this vlog had.
So happy for both Adam and Alberto cause Alberto has a sick job work for Adam but also Adam has a sick mechanic
Lets hope if you rip it she wont be dripping lol
Well, if you keep ripping, no matter how built it is, she'll be dripping at some point.
You gotta send it then mend it then get it rippin' it til its drippin'
It ain't a Race Car if it Doesn't Break
ripping and leaving her dripping is a motto at the lz head quarters
Sway actually it started at the mcfarland hq
6:55 Nice pistons😎 respect 👊🏽 almost time to SEND IT!
There is something about engine building that i find soooo soothing
Man i got a g37 project car and here comes adam showing off top notch parts like its nothing
Hell yeah! There we go Adam! Forged pistons. Now it won’t blow to hell! Now im happy lol
Thank you for clarifying that Adam
I am glad you upload at random times every day cause just when I thought there was nothing on you pop up it could be day or night
My favorite content is when you and Alberto build stuff and explain it.

Those Yashio factory hoodies are so good 🤙🏻
This build got me hooked, considering i own a vq my self 😅
“Vq not the best platform for power”
Fressshkickssss says otherwise
Wow that VQ37 looks so good!
Can’t wait to see it being put in Zeroy!
I love seeing alberto building you're engines 🤩
You have such neat variety of styles you use. Always great content.
That coffee from Japan really made Adam hyper today! Lol!
Love these videos to see how an engine is built!
Alberto vlogs are always funny
Love the raw video with the homie alberto
This is best the best content in a while.
Alberto throwing it back to the big dog shirts!
Easy way to get the rod cap off is unscrew the rod bolts a little. Hold the rod upside down holding the cap with one hand and tap the top of the rod bolts with a small rubber mallet

"I'd kinda be down if that wasn't, like, weird, you know?"
Late night garage talks should be a series.
This is literally the funniest LZed video in awhile 😂

Keep up the good work you and the team and happy Christmas
If u get an aftermarket block is it gonna be open jacket or closed jacket.
Joonas Laakkonen did u listen to the video
He did not mention going closed jacket i dont think if he did timestamp
probably open cause he wants better cooling, but when he's gonna build the VQ37 the second time he might go closed so that it won't blow up lmfao... keep in mind its a drag build so he needs strong internals

I think they mentioned sleeves. A bit like what Darton make?
I love watching these videos, BigBoost is such an amazing teacher!

You’re killing it Adam, thanks man
Still haven’t taken the lid of the IBC
Alberto looks like he needs a vacation, man looks done ✅
If you can’t run with the Big Digs, stay on the porch! Alberto just took me back to the 90’s. LOL
Felt like the Home Shopping Network at first 😂😂😂
That sh't made me mad fr LOL
Big dogg shirts were awesome had tons of them
Lathe turn the shaft on your ring grinder to 1/2" so a battery drill can run it. Speeds up the job a bunch!
Buy the tool from ISKY so you can o-ring the top of the cylinders by hand. It is easy and stops blowing head gaskets.
can't wait to see the dyno video on this VQ motor
You nailed it Adam, tell Alberto to mount that ring filer to a wood board and then just clamp it down to a table or w/e when needed.
Adam I’m loving the build series w zeroy, but I must admit I died a little bit inside when you said DE lol
he said deTT
ShadowOfDeath24 it’s not a de at all, all vq37s are vq37hr
@@danielriccobono699 good call, the dett part was kinda a joke haha
Adam LZ
This seems like a throwback to win Alberto and Adam built the stroked 2j that in the s15
Oooof I need to see the final product and dyno!!!
Loved the chill format of this video. Just a couple bro’s doing engine things lol
“Engine parts are so cool” factsssss
Yashio factory 💪💪👌 love that hoodie I can't wait for mine to arrive 👀
Albertos insane honestly!!!!
You guys have way too much fun in that workshop haha
The Alberto flex scene 🤣🤣 torque like a boss.
YOOOOO alberto with the big dog shirts! My family used to buy them all the time
I remember Big Dog brand! Lol you’re not alone Alberto. 😂
Nice setup, can't wait to see it crank.
officially most fire outro yet!
Any 4cyl 4runner or Tacoma (even t100s with the 3rz engine) will have that D shape water pump gasket. Tacomas from 95.5-04 and 4runner’s from 96-02 with the 4cyl engine.
I love the unskippable 1 minute ads, especially if I get 2 in a row :D
Adam LZ: “the off camera talk” takes 4 tabs of lsd.
625 is referring to inconel 625, a nickel based super alloy that is used in jet engines
It’s gonna be a beast
I hate to sound like an ls bro but the vq is the one engine i feel fits just perfectly in a recycling bin
Alberto is such a good boy
ive been subscribe for 5 years and have watched ur vids for a longer amount of time😂
Great music in the beginning of video ~
11.5 is the static compression.
What is is roughly with valve over lap.
(Static obviously means while not running.
So compression while running is tad lower
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Build an engine that everyone hates. Love it!
Everyone definitely doesn't hate the vq. Everyone hates the vg30 and 3000gt engines
5:40 pure gold dose this go here, are the clearance wrong, thanks for the laughs after a long day and great work on the video
18:25
Adam : Maybe when you leave i”ll try it
Alberto : Aight, imma head out
😂
finally been waiting all morning it feels

Its called an allowance a tolerance is an unwanted variation in dimension. Allowance is an intentional variation in dimension.
The music at the start was top tier
Damn Alberto you need to RELAX with the man handling of that crank.
My mom use to love the big dog brand.
02' Toyota pickup truck is the gasket you are looking for 😂
The water pump gasket lol
@@rexrunner the infamous one at all auto parts stores. Works for a percel too
The truck water pump gasket is either for a 94 or 97 Toyota Tacoma/Pickup 4 cylinder engine.
Vqs and vrs use the same tq plate so I’d assume you could technically bolt the head a from one on the other
i got rod knock in my volvo in July and havent done a thing about it, and here you are changing engine after engine. now i feel lazy
You should try a deccon block fill for extra security
call the parts store and tell em you need a 97 toyota tacoma water pump gasket
That's a penis
Or don't I get that call once a week
