Singing is Filipino culture. Singing is an expression for Filipinos. We sing while washing dishes, cleaning, walking, running, working in the field while planting rice, during work and in every time we felt expressing our emotions and especially expressing our love in any way. That’s why Filipino invented karaoke.
This man singing is from my hometown, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. They are a family of singers. His son also sang this song in our Alumni Homecoming. His wife died of a cardiac arrest while he was still onboard a ship working. Whenever I want to cry I watch this video and never fails to bring me to tears.
He is a ship captain who arrived 3 days after his wife died. The one filming the video is his son. They asked everyone at the wake to step out of the funeral home so he can have personal time with his wife, his son and daughter, that is when he sang his heart out and his son filmed it.
His not singing... His soul talking to his wife through the magical music. The unconditional love of a Filipino guy to his forever love... his wife. That man teaching us how to be a real husband and a good lover.
That's the way how he express his sorrow and sadness... sometimes we Filipinos don't speak but we use music to express our feelings 😢 especially in hard times
This is how Filipino working abroad as seaman or seafarer “battle life “and giving the “good life “that his family deserved. His wife passed away while he’s abroad, he got back home with his wife in the casket, deceased. He’s trying to console himself by singing that song. What a brave man. That happened most of the Filipino working abroad. I can relate to him because I live abroad away from family for almost 14 years now. My heart is braking with this man and his family. It’s hit not only my heart but also my mind. I was crying to the max watching him. I can t imagine how he struggle and heart broken the way sung the song and the tone of his singing voice. A very emotional tribute.
Singing is everything for filipinos, we sings when we are happy, when we are sad, when we are inlove, when we are working, when we are drinking alcohol, when we are in school, and sometimes when we are walking on the street. Music gaves filipinos special strength that makes us strong in every challenge we are encountering.
Mate you never know how he react when he found out his wife died . Can you just imagine how much tears came out of his eyes . For me he probably accepted the fact that his wife already passed away so for final tribute he sang her a song . Because no matter how much you cry , you never bring a dead back to life . Only God Almighty can raise dead people.
Each person express their heartaches in different way but in the Philippines singing is our way of expressing our feelings. Singing is cultural in the Philippines

A seranade (called "harana" in tagalog) is part of the Filipino culture that goes back to the Spanish colonial days but is rarely practiced now. This particular video is reminiscent of that practice. It's a seranade of a husband expressing his love to his wife. Expressing ones affection through a song is very much ingrained in the Filipino culture, and that's what you'd see a lot in just about any type of celebrations or events and even funerals. It may seem strange to others when they see someone doing it but it is part of our custom to sing a seranade to a love one if we so choose to do so although not many practice it anymore (the practice of standing outside their window and singing to them). The classic Filipino movies (the LVN PICTURES) in black and white format are filled with scenes of seranades and singing scenes set in the spanish era, American colonial day and that's part of the reason why singing is so much a part of the Filipino lifestyle today - because Filipinos always express their feelings by singing for hundreds of years.
What is unique in our country the Philippines is that we express our emotions through singing, music plays a vital role in our culture, and that is also the reason why almost all Filipinos know how to sing and have a beautiful voice. One example is when a man sings in front of the house of a girl that they are courting we call it "Harana" or serenade and it takes a lot of guts to do that, all the neighbors will be watching you doing the "Harana" and at the end of serenade either the courtship will be accepted or not, and you will be in front of the whole family, parents, brothers, sisters and sometimes the aunt or uncle, grandparents, etc... and the person will be scrutinized by the whole family members, not sure if other countries have that tradition ahaha, and it's been a tradition for ages, especially in the province. a couple of years ago I attended on one of my friend's mother died and I was at the funeral, she sang a song for her, it's her mother's favorite song, and she cried out throughout the song but still sang for her mom one last time, damm I cried a lot on that funeral.
3 months ago... My step daughter lost her baby twins. And 3 weeks ago, she lost her husband. Heartbreaking ... Broken heart .. no words could describe this sadness. Rest peacefully my dear A, and angel babies J and P. 🌹😭❤️
Imagine he was still able to pull it off despite being so in pain and sang it so well but we still cried or got teary-eyed. What more if he was breaking down and crying? These types of situations make us appreciate our partners or loved ones in general. Good morning from the Ph!
I remembered when my mother pass away and i sing I love you goodbye by Celine Dion to her, it was her favorite song and keep on requesting me to sing when she still alive. On first i sing it good but after the second verse my voice already crack and burst into tears😭 salute to this man making this perfect tribute to her wife i can see the pain on his voice. You can hear him singing like shouting already to release the pain😭😭 love you jess, sending hug to both of you
You two have so much heart and we can feel your love coming through your Utube Channel! Just Really, really Nice people, with Great Heart ! I sang Peace in the Valley at my Mom’s funeral ! Not sure how, was kinda in a trace during the whole time! Just remember seeing my Mothers smiling face! Been years ago now, like 14 years and still hurts ! Bless You Both :-)
Oh dear God…I knew what was coming since I watched this video earlier with other reactors and I wanted SO badly to be right there with you comforting you, with my arms around you both! Mike…I see your struggle and wondered(not to minimize your experience) if you were concentrating on your “thoughts” to avoid having the feelings;something I am familiar with. I will say, that it has been brought up that this almost doesn’t feel real, his casual stance, hand in pocket at one point even just the ability to sing through such grief! But we all react differently to loss. Not being able to pay tribute to our loved ones who have passed because we are feeling it so deeply, does NOT mean anything except that our grief is just overwhelming. Thank you for your honest reactions and insights. I sure do love you kids!❤️❤️

This is a last wake b4 funeral and the husband request to have him a private and alone in that room with his wife and he sing a love song for his wife. He sung to his heart all he felt. The last tribute and farewell. Coz he is a seafarer a captain just return home for his wife is dead. I think they love to sing the couple that's why for the last time he sing for his beloved wife. May she Rest in peace. God bless the family.
He put all his sad and lonely emotions in a song he sing 😭 the words he could or might just only whisper to himself and in the air is he probably voicing it out Tru that song ❤ and he did his best to sing that song to tell his wife that the lyrics is the way he feels at that moment and he wants her to be brave wherever she is and he is too . He's so brave doing that and he really loves her 💝❤
this guy cant believe someone can sing when he is heartbroken.but u see it with ur own eyes.we mourn differently.its his way of expressing his feelings towards his loving wife.
This is heartbreaking 💔.. the man was a ship captain working away from his family.. when her wife died, he was not there and took him 3 days to got home. And i think this was his way of expressing and poured out his emotions through singing. So heavy. 😢
Pure 'Love' carried this man through this. Wanted to say his final message along with his wife on her journey ahead, to keep with her until they are united together as one again! God bless them both.
He can express the love of his wife and express her feeling and he can accept the reality of life... in my opinion the song He can sing her husband,, the song favorite of his Wife...
Jess was right with the tribute. Might be the last song he can offer for her wife while he can still see her personally. Might be his wife's last request that he can sing for her even in front of the casket. I will do it myself to my loved ones too knowing that it would be painful enough. I would definitely hold my tears temporarily just so I could give them the last full performance they deserved from me to show how important they are to me.
I believed that the husband was imagining thier happy/good memories and that his wife is listening in front of him in so he need to pull the song off. It needs mind conditioning really...
My heart goes to this brave guy...Just seeing the video ,I was crying already .. Hope he is adjusted already thru the pain & suffering he encountered !!!! Thanks for sharing..🙏❤👍
My brother sang "Somewhere Down the Road" by Barry Manilow at the church during the funeral service for our mother. I sang "David's Song" (23rd Psalm) at the cemetary during the interment. That was over thirty-six years ago.
I have read from several reactions saying that he requested to have a few hours privacy for his wife... only his daughter and son were with him so he sings it and his son took the video
We filipinos expresses our feelings in so many ways and one of them is through singing... Because filipinos are well known to be as good singers?.. It says the guy was away when his wife died, And since he sings to her most of the time?, ( he is a good singer..as we all know now) he choosed to sing a song at her funeral..
he can't show his weakness to his family especially to his children he must be brave infront of them, filipinos are like that. when one of our family see us breakdown to sadness they'rw going to cheer us up while saying' Think of your family , youre children you should be strong they needed you"...tthats why i think...😢😢
I’m literally crying 😭 swabbing I close my eyes to absorb what I’m hearing.. gosh…omg…’how do you heal a broken heart’ it’s pain..I pray he’ll find comfort after all is over.. and he’s family.. RIP
I would say that this video really brought me to moment when my brother passed away, this is his favorite song. He’s the one I look up to, talk to when I want to vent, kind dad to his kids, and a brother. Bye… 😭😭😭
Omg this is absolutely amazing and beautiful WOW he has a beautiful voice he is singing from the bottom of his soul and heart ❤️💘💘😢 GOD BLESS HIM AND The family forever 🙏 she is watching over him as he sings to her 😭😭❤
Endrearing and heartbreaking, I could avoid and skip past but I still clicked to watch in tears. Power to that man, it's quite difficult for myself to show any emotion after losing a loved one. This guy went up several bars and sang his heart out instead of just crying.
Our hearts go out to this man and the women's family. May she rest in peace, and may he find peace in life as well.

I agree. My heart breaks for him and his family. I could feel the pains in his voice. What a beautiful tribute and brave he was for doing this at his wife’s funeral. Absolutely heartbreaking and yet beautiful at the same time! 💔 😭😭 I’ll be praying for him and his family! 🙏
Good morning from the Ph!
he is a singer...that loves to sing with his wife everytime they gather...so he kept his Promise to sing with her 'til DEATH....
I wouldn't have been able to sing ...😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
This makes my heart melt n my tears flow unstoppable
He is a great man
That's what true love really is
That's one thing with Filipinos. We can express our emotions through singing our hearts out like that...
whewww can feel his heavy heart, so freaking sad, crying the entire video. i hope in time you lessen the pain, so much respect for you. God bless you!

Even in his very deep loneliness he still managed to sing with all his heart for his loving wife
Very emotional video. The character’s way of expressing his feelings and emotions as well as.
Very emotional and incredible
We Filipinos, we sing every time we’re happy and when we’re sad. It’s how we express our feelings.
What a great thing to do and brave man ,how he loves his wife, beautifully sang, gives me tears, My Condolence to the Family.....Praying for Strength and Comfort to the Family.
I'm crying while watching it. So an emotional and brave man.
He can express the love of his wife and express her feeling and he can accept the reality of life... in my opinion the song
He can sing her husband,, the song favorite of his Wife...
An expression of his feelings, his sorrows & love🥲 So touching😭
Thanks for watching proud to be a Filipno so emotional.
That's he's way to show the feelings for the last time. Only Filipino can understand that feeling.
VERY EMOTIONAL 😭😭❤❤ That's Real Love, GOD BLESS YOU
I can feel how he deeply love his wife...my she rest in peace
My heart goes to this brave guy...Just seeing the video ,I was crying already .. Hope he is adjusted already thru the pain & suffering he encountered !!!! Thanks for sharing..🙏❤👍
So heartbroken and so hard to watch...so much pain but pure Love.......
teary eyes watching this man 😢, i can feel the pain he is inside of losing his wife, life is so hard for him😢😢😢
Beyond the sadness, all I hear is LOVE.
My brother sang "Somewhere Down the Road" by Barry Manilow at the church during the funeral service for our mother. I sang "David's Song" (23rd Psalm) at the cemetary during the interment. That was over thirty-six years ago.
RIP for his wife and Condolence to Family God Bless Bless to everyone.❤️🙏
This is how We the Filipinos show how we Love Our wife even for the Last Time...
Bye… 😭😭😭
Omg this is absolutely amazing and beautiful WOW he has a beautiful voice he is singing from the bottom of his soul and heart ❤️💘💘😢 GOD BLESS HIM AND The family forever 🙏 she is watching over him as he sings to her 😭😭❤
In Philippines singing is one of how we express our feelings
Endrearing and heartbreaking, I could avoid and skip past but I still clicked to watch in tears.
Power to that man, it's quite difficult for myself to show any emotion after losing a loved one. This guy went up several bars and sang his heart out instead of just crying.
