I always love seeing composers for game music enjoying people's covers.
The way the phrasing (and ultimately the song) jumps from being off-beat to on-beat for the last few notes is exquisite musical penmanship. 10/10, A+. Translates exquisitely to metal, too. Very powerful.
One of my favorite things in Loop Hero is that the boss music begins *before* you fight them. You have to go around the loop once more with this absolute banger forcing you to anticipate the fight that's to come. It's a subtle game design choice but it makes such a huge difference in selling the omnipresence of the game's bosses.
It’s literally the meme, “Who’s playing boss music?” And I love it.
Okay I'm just going to be that guy, technically you can trigger the boss loop at any point in the loop and I have done it when I am right before the tent before so technically you can go without experiencing this, you can end up just summoning the boss and walking into his town immediately

Honestly, when I've first summoned the boss, I was shocked how incredible soundtrack in Loop Hero. Seriously, I've stopped the game to realise that such simple game have soundtrack more fantastic than most of AAA and A games.
Well when you have short budget and limited sound "pallet" like majority, in not all, chiptune stuff you have to be very creative and talented to make something memorable. Limitation is mother of creativity and there is just no other way to make it sound good without making a memorable melody. It actually is very simple for AAA studios to hire an entire orchestra to make cool sounding noise that will be forgotten as soon as it stops playing because nobody cared about making a complete composition.

Check out ultrakill, dusk and strafe for some other good indie soundtracks. There are plenty more I can’t think of right now.

Oh fuck YES! This game has some banger OST that I could listen to without tiring. Just the sense of desperate urgency in a futile attempt to rebuild a lost and scattered world. Amazing!
Boss Portal songs slap so hard, always a battle between summoning it early and getting squashed, or doing so and commencing headbanging

When I heard this first time in the game, I stopped to listen.
The riff is just so good in this; the guitar still manages to capture the feeling of despair/hopelessness with just a few notes.
To me this song just screams "OH SHIT, LET'S DO THIS!!"

I really liked the lore about the priestess always losing. Kind of strikes something in my heart.
I just love how the game's mechanics tie into the theme and plot, it's just masterfully connected
honestly im not as poetic as you guys so i dont get to see the interesting part in those aspects, i just like that the protagonist WONT give up even if it dies a million times

Man, Rich, I really love this cover, but it's kind of depressing seeing it have sub-40k views while every FNF one gets a gorillion more views than anything else. do you ever feel pigeonholed or pressured into doing specific tracks over ones you want to? Not saying you necessarily want to do FNF covers, but it's a pretty stark contrast on popularity, how much does that affect your choices on what to play?
I've come to accept the nature of making covers in this sense. Even if I don't really like a particular track that folks want to see covered I'll try to find ways to make my arrangement fun and interesting for me to play. This mindset also prevents me from only covering tracks that I already like - it's more challenging, but definitely an exercise for me creatively

I miss this song because I've progressed enough that I farm resources in chapters III and IV. But this one's my favorite of the lot!
Just discovered the game and knew someone was going to rock the covers of these songs. The music is so great for such a simple looking game. Great playing and arrangement.
Good one! But the solo "squill" is a bit "drowned", should be more in front and pronounced IMHO.
It's good, but--- IMO, main notes need more room to breathe and be heard, to quiet. The strumming is to loud, and overtaking.

What a coincindence. I just played Loop Hero and beat chapter 1 boss. Before I was able to beat the boss, the moment the soundtrack play, I can only said, "Oh shit." Because I know I probably got my ass whooped by the boss.
