I love this scene from Pixar's newest and fantastic movie.
I didn't realise glass was made out of sand until I saw Ember sitting on sand at a beach.
Ember's got cool firebending, glassbending and glass-blowing skills. Pretty amazing talent for a fire element like herself
I figured that glass is molten sand a long time ago. One of the episodes of The Fairy Oddparents and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 showed that.
And yes, Ember truly showed potential with her glass-bending talent. Something I more recently imagine other fire-themed characters from outside Disney/Pixar sources doing.

If you think about it, glass is what you get when you combine multiple elements. The sand is earth that has been worn away by water into fine particles, it's heated with fire till it becomes molten, and you use air to cool and shape it. Despite the elemental communities supposedly fearing one another, it's in combining them together that you can create something truly wonderful.
Glass making is such a cool art form. They even paid attention to detail and had Ember throw on powdered glass, called frit, to add color to the pitcher.

Very impressive Ember, I would say her making glass actually made sense because it's like glassblowing, not to mention when fire gets too close to sand, it literally turns into glass, oh why can't this movie happen years ago, I could use a moral like that, probably like what Wade or any other character gave her.🔥💧🔥💧🔥💧🔥💧🔥💧🔥💧🔥💧

She said she can fix the pitcher and added bells and whistles to it. If that pitcher didn’t get broken in the first place, this never would’ve happened. Sometimes, bad things can lead to good, if not better things.

She's not. It's inflatable and plastic
Which begs the question of why the plastic isn't melting from contact with her fire. Of course she exhibits the ability to control the temperature and luminosity of her body enough to not instantly just burn things but still it's a bit of a inconsistency, given how she flares how enough to melt the glass. Yes it's a very pretty cartoon about a world of sentient anthropomorphized elements, but for all the work they did for creating consistency elsewhere it's a little jarring when you notice the inconsistency here.
